Hey, let's play a fun game. Every time you come across news that shows EA as a corp who doesn't give a fuck, make a new post. Let's see how long until Mass Effect 3 doesn't seem worth it anymore.

I'll start: One person cusses a ton at a seconded person, EA takes away all of the seconded person's games.

You see, EA has a policy that if you are banned from their forums, you are not allowed to access your games anymore, without a refund. Bans are permanent. They banned a guy for being harassed, and refuse to fix it.

As upsetting as this is, I'm not about to get rid of my Mass Effect 3 pre-order. I've waited too long for Mass Effect 3, I've saved up for too much time in college to get that pre-order, and I'm not about to change my mind now. Sorry, but that's the truth of it; not worth beating around the bush.

Of course, this is one reason why I never get Steam ANYTHING. If shit hits the fan like this, people always lose. I just hope this gets the attention of someone at EA so they can do the right thing.

EDIT: Everyone should stay away from any official messageboard. To quote Obi-Wan, you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

Oh good, I was actually starting to miss the time when EA and Activisions were considered near-equals in gaming evil.

While we're at it, let's not forget the fact that their online passes have an expiry date despite no indication as such, preventing them from being used in a brand new, unopened game.

I thought everyone knew that. Way to dash my hopes for humanity, BL, and you did it without your patented speechstorm.

Oh, you think that's bad? What about the guy who was banned from Dragon Age 2 just for giving his opinion on how he didn't like the game on their forums? Or what about when they promised they'd include Battlefield 1943 with every copy of Battlefield 3, then went back on that leading to a class action lawsuit from the community, which eventually forced them to consent and give the game out for free, as originally promised.

Also, since everything now requires Origins to play anything even remotely EA related, you're obligated to get an account to even try out demos. Main Event reports on Facebook:

Quote:

Dear EA, take that new version of NBA Jam and pound it up your ass!! I downloaded the "demo/trial" but before I could play it they wanted me to sign into online for Origins. Which they do tell you they will collect personal data. No dice on my end. Then it says... "You won't be able to play online if you don't agree to the TOS".

I don't agree, figuring I just want to try the game out offline, I don't need online play. Yeah... not going to happen. Only way you can try the game offline IS IF YOU PURCHASE THE FULL GAME FIRST! How does that make sense?

Origins is also known to spy on your computer particularly this person's tax program. Of course, EA has denied the shit out of this.

Oh Arem, you still want that Mass Effect 3? You sure about that? Because BioWare seems to think that RPGs are becoming less relevant. Let's not forget how it has an online pass and day one DLC.

Since we're talking about subsidaries of EA, DICE, the developer of Battlefield is no slouch when it comes to slagging off it's own consumers. Aside from telling gamers who thought that there was a significant difference in the way the game controlled between the demo and the full game that they're on crack, they also went about insulting a longtime fan of the series who did a writeup of how he didn't find the latest entry to be as enjoyable an experience, telling him to QQ some more then followed it up with a rather barb wired post. Also, instead of patching an EXP exploit in Battlefield 3, EA has decided to just outright ban anyone and everyone remotely associated with it.

I think I've covered my quota for the day, though I'm not sure I got everything I wanted to talk about in there. Wasn't there something really frivolous concerning Mirror's Edge 2 being cancelled as well?

Yeah, that's the thing. All that shit Psycho posted is why I say "Don't buy any EA games". It's just that news was the newest, and so that's what I posted first. I figured EA would do and/or have more shit to rat about in the near future. Destructoid has at least one shit thing to say about them a day.

It wasn't actually cancelled, if that's what you're suggesting. They've just been really quiet about it.

I'm beginning to wonder if we should have a "Stop Buying Activision Games" thread just to balance this one out. Lord knows Psych would be ranting in that one long enough to make even me jealous.

Lets not forget that almost every branch of EA treats their dev employees pretty shittily, forcing overtime-like hours during non-"crunch time" phases and not even paying them for it, often with the shitty looming threat of "you'll never work again etc."

I don't even remember the last EA game I've purchased.

Speaking of old games, if you have an old EA game (their definition of "old" is before 2009) that Origins doesn't support, then good luck trying to enjoy it. You can't register the game or get any DLC for it and if you did in the past, then it's gone. No compensation for this either. Of note as well is that, according to it's terms of service, if you do not log into your Origins account for 24 months then your account is liable for deletion, as well as having all the games on it removed. Even if you got your account back, those games are gone and you have to pay for them again.

I'm looking at everything I have and I'm not seeing anything in the way of EA. Personally, there's a handful of games I want on the Gamecube from the EA-Big brand, but that's really the extent of it.

Let's see...Need for Speed, Rock Band, Army of Two, and maybe Dead Space. Nothing that's coming out looks interesting, and most of the stuff that IS out I don't care for. So yeah.

Haha, the last time EA made a good NFS game was when I was still in highschool...that was almost ten years ago.

This comes as no surprise imo. They seem to have the business ethics of a pig in regards to other companies and consumers (and I bet even amongst themselves).
Not a big fan of them tbh and if it wasn't for FIFA I'd probably never buy their games for all I care.

Doesn't the latest FIFA have a lot of technical issues?

*searches*

Yeah, server issues, crashes, errors, gameplay bugs...pretty much the usual fare. Oh and I assume it probably also comes with an online pass, right?

EA Brings back Theme Park as a free IOS game, and by free I mean it's 60 real dollars for one roller coaster to be put in.

This is just like that time that EA made a new Tetris IOS game with a 30 dollar subscription charge for discounts on DLC. DLC for Tetris. And by that time, I mean last week.
