Particularly that thing with Assassin's Creed: Unity. Also, talks about the French Revolution actually having a female assassin prompted this thought from me (spoilers because of Watch_Dogs): Spoiler: click to toggle "Oh, she'll still be in the game, but as an NPC. Who will inevitably die in the climax. Because that's all Ubisoft does with female characters. KILL 'EM ALL." (not as coherent as I hoped it would be, but hey, I haven't played Watch_Dogs, so I have no idea how Claire/Badboy17 dies. But she still dies. Refusing to develop games for a console that's not making them any actual money is generally the smart thing to do, and in an industry where developers are constantly tanking and falling apart because publishers insist on spending far more money than they can ever possibly recoup, we could definently use more among them with some actual fucking business sense. The problem here is that their own numbers are unreliable, because at least twice they've sabotaged their own sales with crippling delays in a presumed attempt to make Nintendo the centre of a scapegoat. If they actually released games in the periods of virtually no competition like they originally fucking planned to in the first place, then bombed on sales, there wouldn't be anything to contest them on. This goes further back than just twice; I remember bringing up the issue of a discussion on Gamefaqs regarding Red Steel 2's failure as a game being part of a possible plan by Ubisoft to sabotage it so that they'd have a solid case to present to shareholders to stop supporting the Wii except when it came to easy money shovelware and tossing Rabbids into everything. I recall being scoffed at because it sounded ludicrous that a company would deliberately throw tons of money into a project then let it fall flat on its ass because the console it was developed for wasn't a viable long term investment for quality titles. JOKE'S ON YOU, MOTHERFUCKERS! I WAS RIGHT ALL ALONG!
