It's been a year since I played it so it's a bit hazy to remember, but watching this still remind me of it. Just how far the character is from the camera, the graphics (not as bad), and how hard it is to see so far away. Plus the fighting just sucked and hardly ever worked the way you wanted it to. Alright, comparing the two vids side by side (more or less) and there's definitely some improvement. Better draw distance, much more stable camera with better angles enough of a view for you to see what's going on instead of just glitching in your face. The game moves and feels way more visceral than Battle of Z and, from the way characters are moving and reacting (I'm going to assume both players are human, especially since the bottom left hand corner says "Network Test") it looks like the controls are much tighter. It also looks much less button mash-y and there seem to be a few technical moves/abilities that give you the opportunity to counter/resist/avoid attacks. It also looks like there'll be a bit more focus on close combat here as opposed to the large bulk of the franchise, especially in recent times and there seem to be quite a few strategic ki attacks as opposed to just everyone shooting laser beams at each other. All in all, it does look like a much "healthier" game than Battle of Z and there's plenty of improvement. It also looks prettier, but that's just me not really liking Battle of Z's bizarro darker cel-shading with darker outlines and stuff. I hope the end result is just as promising, I already preordered it, though I won't be playing it any time soon. |

It made Japan's top game for the week. I made a Japanese account to see if they had a demo, but they only have the full game download... and I'm not about to do that. http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2015/02/12/japanese-sales-chart-dragon-ball-xenoverse-1-game-week/ ...checking around the Jap store and demos, I'm a bit disappointed. Everything is anime styled as if that's all they can provide to people (seriously, be a little more diverse). Nearly all of them have graphics that look like Playstation 2.5 or something. ...Not talking about DBZ. Just talking about the entirety of the Japanese PSN. Not that I should have expected anything else. It's interesting how much different it is when you go back and forth on account regions. *Cue a whole new world

I don't know if "realistic" could really count as a specific region's style. They have those same games too... in some little section. I'd love to see how dbz would look like that. The series could never work as a live action movie... but as a realistic game... huh.. there are no time constraints. God damn now I'm excited about something that doesn't even exist. |
