Raining on your parade with a truckload of awkward awesomeness.

Sounds more like a separate game altogether.

Saw this yesterday, came out of NOWHERE and is just so abrupt. I don't understand why they'd make such a radical decision. People are saying that the toys to life market is finally dying, which is kinda nice, but still.

Frankly I spare no shortage of rejoice that this toys-as-tokens market is finally outliving its popularity as most fads do, but if there's anything I lament about it, it's that nobody genuinely did anything exciting with these things. I've said it in regards to Amiibo and I'll say it here - a "living toy" should be something that actively learns from its games and keeps mementos to transfer between them, not be an on disc DLC token by any other name. And it legitimately makes me angry sometimes that nobody ever went further than that despite all the buzz about the things coming to life, especially when something legitimately incredible could've spawned from it. Now they've basically blown that chance entirely too.

I think I read up somewhere that Disney is actually departing videogames as a whole with the shutting down of Infinity, which... I dunno, seems kind of extreme?

Then again, I read somewhere that this may be a prelude to them purchasing a publisher, not unlike what happened when they bought Marvel and LucasArts (although what they sold before that purchase escapes me :P).

I'm pretty sure I read that, not only are they killing it, they're dropping out of any videogames and they're shutting down the developer of the game, so it's not like they're putting them on another project. The entire process and how it's happened is just BIZARRE and sudden.

Oh here it is. They're still open to licensing, but they're not going to publish games themselves - so more than likely this just means they're regressing back to shovelware, which is just as bad in a way.

Here's everything they had planned for 4.0. Again, it's mindboggling how abrupt this cancellation was. These things were selling, right? Like, the "game" was decent and the toys were really well sculpted and readily available (complete with variants and such), so I'm still not sure what went wrong.
