Following a government shakeup, dumped plans for a popular alignment with the EU, bungled gas talks, and the arrest and imprisonment of top government officials from the last administration including Ukraine's former Prime Minister, there's rioting in the streets in many of the country's major cities. Furthermore, though the riots started as peaceful protests, the government pushing back and cracking down on the protestors, at times fatally, has driven them to violence, and the streets are starting to look like something worse than the Arab Spring earlier this decade. The current administration wants to force the rest of the country along with the largely resented plans to increase ties with Russia and push them further away from the Eurozone. Additionally, an almost draconian crackdown from the government, including rendering any form of protest illegal and seditious and the frightening automatic text messages received from government offices notifying protesters they are directly violating the law if assembled, has only escalated matters. Today, the riots are spreading from the largely pro-European west and now into the pro-Russian east. Things are getting ugly, but I've seen next to nothing on this in the US news but way too much on the beaver with the bad haircut. In short, Ukraine is facing major economic woes and unrest due to lack of political honesty and transparency while fighting what may be perceived as a forced march back into something resembling the Soviet Union.

Starting to look a lot like Egypt now. Everything from throwing a potential leader who was looking to improve the country's living standards into prison to turning peaceful protests violent by having the police use unnecessary force. Seriously, fuck the human race sometimes.

From the Orange Revolution to this? ... Can we all just fucking wake up already? Something needs to be done already. Get ready for the "protesters" to start aggravating the police too. Hint, it'll likely be like in Greece where police seemed like one of the protestors but actually were officers trying to start problems with the police (to get the police to legally react). This has been uncovered in Greece and if this fucked up possibility continues (during protests), especially in a country like Ukraine that had the Orange Revolution (not even 10 years ago!!!) then I will honestly just say I expect people to sit the fuck around like always (outside of the country). Things such as Syntagma were a fucking mess when the riots were going on and honestly, I feel like that shit will come back in Greece (I mention 1 of my 2 countries due to firsthand experience, sue me). The economies in most (if not all) countries is a fucking disaster at this moment and that's being nice about it. The news outlets will all report different things about all these events and all you can do is check out as many as possible and see which ones seem to connect some dots together (interpretation). In Greece and in the US I would see mixed/short stories from time to time on news channels (or lack of coverage altogether) and when it came to the internet I just checked every place imaginable to see just how much info I could gather. This problem will remain consistent until these politicians are likely dragged out and publicly shamed (or worse), but that's at least my harsh take on the way things might go.

Good god, what the fuck? That escalated way too much for something that's been going on for this long. It's only going to get worse.

That's a great start. I wonder if this means they'll have their independence or not, though.

Has there been any serious talk of dividing Ukraine east and west of the Dnieper River?

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

That's not the point. If one side is really holding the rest of the country back like this, it may be best for the health of both countries to separate. Same idea as a divorce.

I'm aware of that. I was just joking around. Truth be told, I could hardly believe what I was seeing when this was going down. I'm glad to see things getting straightened out.
