The word Yatagarasu just keeps reminding me that we're not getting Edgeworth 2. ]:

But it's great we're getting this. :3

On the subject of Project Phoenix, the developer explains why he's not releasing the game on any Nintendo consoles. Just chalk that up to Nintendo's stupid policy of keeping Japanese indie devs out, they will lose a really huge piece of the market for that.

That's for the original game, not the crowd-funded one. That will still be available on PC when it comes out next year.

Still, why completely shift development if you're already working on the game? Why not just release it for both?

There's something I'm legit curious about, though: how does Greenlight work? Do people donate to projects on it like with Kickstarter or Indiegogo, or do they have a different system in place?

Just to repost what Ruris posted on the other thread:

Both The Last Phoenix and Shadow of the Eternals are on that list. :3

EDIT: I'm actually not quite sure myself and Fenix and I were talking about it the other day. From what I can tell, a game gets approved then I'd assume that either Valve covers the cost for getting it out on Steam and takes a percentage of the profits, or the devs pay them the money back in whatever profits are made, then keep the excess for themselves.

Steam Greenlight is pretty much a thing where people vote for games they'd like to see on Steam.

That's it. There's no crowdfunding or anything, it's just there to measure consumer interest in games.

But how is the game funded? If the studio has a sample and needs money to go ahead with the game, how do they get the money to do it? We've seen projects that were previously on Kickstarter move over to Greenlight, especially if their funding fails, meaning they still need money to make the game.

Greenlight doesn't allow for direct funding through Steam, but they allow linking to external crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter and the like. Greenlight is mostly for developers to get feedback and criticism about their game before it actually gets released.

Here's the FAQ for Steam Greenlight:
