I might've been hyperbolic with my last post, but if Inafune does go through with this, it will be the last crowdfunding project I EVER submit any money to. I will not be fucked like that again.

And he's not saying he wants to, e's sayin it'd be hypothetically possible for Capcom to sweeten the deal enough to make it happen. His answer is probably exactly the same for any other company. Except that the entire point of crowdfunding is for independent developers to self publish by gaining capital from the consumers to fund the project, on their own, without the need for a publisher. That was the entire point of the movement, to cut out the middle man and give smaller developers a chance to do their own thing without getting boned by The Man. If he turns around and accepts a publishing contract from Capcom, that's just a big "fuck you" to the people that pretty much just funnelled $4 million into his pocket.

He got the money, he launched the project, and he's saying that if Capcom wants to help out and will play their rules, he'd let them, exacty same as if any other company wanted to do it. This is such a silly thing to be outraged about. Having a publisher would likely reduce various costs simply by providing infrastructure, allowing the dev team to put more money directly into the game - this would benefit players. Also, Inafune still wants MegaMan Legends 3 to happen, after all the effort he put into the game. He said this about it: Keiji Inafune If somebody asked, even right now, what's the game you want to create most? It's still Legends 3. I put so much effort into that game, so much passion into that game, but it didn't happen. It's always a regret in my mind. Even now... We all know that's not going to happen, though, as long as Capcom holds the IP. But if they asked me to make that game, I could still gather most of the original team, even right now. Some of them have quit Capcom, some of them are still at Capcom, but I believe that team would be passionate enough to come back together and create that game. So... we'll see what's going to happen. You never know. Let's say that, if we have all seven Dragon Balls right here, right now, and Shen Long comes up and says, "What's your wish?"
