Games With Gold

Basically, for us Xbox Live Gold members, here's what we can talk about the games that Gold Members can download for free. This promotion will run until November on the advent of the Xbox One, although other sources claim until the end of the year. A new game will be announced on the 1st and 16th of every month.

June 16-30: Fable III
July 1-15: Defense Grid: The Awakening
July 16-31: Assassin's Creed II

According to different sources, we can expect Halo 3 to make an appearance.

I decided to put this topic together so we don't have to go searching for it every time there's a new announcement. I actually feel compelled to download Assassin's Creed II, just to see how it is. I haven't beaten the first Assassin's Creed yet, however. It's a hefty 5.2 GB, so watch out small HDDs.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

Fable III sucks.

Haven't played Defense Grid Yet

I hated the first Screed...not sure if I want to even try again.

Yeah, I knew about Fable III, so I skipped it. Wasn't too sure about the second one. I enjoyed the first Assassin's Creed well enough, but traded it in to help pay for the Wii U. I plan to pick it up again since it's not that much.

If you didn't play AC past the first game, then you missed out on a TON of innovation that's become the standard of the series. Upgradeable equipment (screw that, ACTUAL equipment), guild challenges, sidequests, story related collectibles and a horde of other things. The games became a lot more wholesome and didn't feel like it was just, go to city, do side objectives, kill target, okay bye.

I personally can't vouch for 3 myself because I haven't gotten it yet, but the other games are great.

Halo 3 is a definite, as Microsoft confirmed it themselves at E3 (and the whole "only till Xbox One launch" deal too, I think.)

Still, stupid promotion is stupid.

Ok, Crackdown is at least interesting, since that's a game that I don't already have and actually want.

Crackdown was kinda fun, especially if you like sandbox games.

Also, it's cute that xbox wants to throw a free game 2 times a month...

From what I remember of Crackdown there were only really two major problems with it - you were getting shot at almost constantly no matter where you went, and the driving skill is the biggest chore to level up because not only are there usually civilians in the way wherever you get a chance to ram someone, the only practical upgrades ever manifest themselves right at the peak of the driving skill. It's not actually a bad game besides that - I'd even go as far as to say it's a pretty underrated gem.

It's the sequel you gotta watch out for. It's baffling how they managed to screw everything up like that just one game later.

I thought the game was mundane and underwhelming. It was advertised as a GTA-esque Deus Ex and it ended up being a plotless sandbox game where you spent the entire thing just beating down on gang members and collecting orbs. Vehicles and weapons were completely pointless because your powers more than compensated for them and those in themselves were just too vague and boring. I always go back to what this game could've been and how disappointing it was. Really, the only reason people bought it was because of the Halo 3 beta that came with it.

I liked it mostly because I loved the jumping. Hell yeah more orbs, gotta jump higher. Shit... I got them all... well... guess I'll go fuck around with civilians.
