Beh, looked like yet another bland FPS. Probably wouldn't have tried this if it did last, and you guys all would probably be complaining about it too. I mean, it's not even X and Zero as a team. It's X and Bruce Willis.

I'm going to have to disagree; the fact that it's a game in the X series is more than enough for me, but adding to that how incredibly detailed, fast paced and involving of the player it is tells me it's something I would have really loved. I can clearly see the Metroid Prime overtones in this and it fits the franchise well.

Clearly, someone needs to pick this up and finish it off, because it looks incredible. Also, I don't really get the Bruce Willis crack. =/

I don't really give a shit if it's a bit out of whack for the Megaman universe - they could really stand to do something a little more daring with it. Between 10 classic games and 8 or so X ones, frankly I'm just sick of them milking their existing formulas without really changing anything substantial at all. We already have fangames for that.

Personally I got more of a Halo vibe from it, with tidbits of Other M mixed in. Hell, I'd have hit it.

The article said he would be teamed up with a human partner, and mentioned a Bruce Willis type. I love Bruce as much as the next guy, but the videos and comments just scream of the homogenization that's infiltrated the medium of late.

Those bullets really don't lend it a megaman air
Even the ones in X looked more like lasers

What, you mean this part?

Those pieces included X and Zero, and Mega Man would have a new human sidekick, a Bruce Willis-like police officer. The man versus machine contrast between the two was meant to be an overarching theme of the game, with Mega Man's personality sometimes making him seem more human than his sidekick.

Sounds like something that the series would have naturally transitioned into, if you consider the clearly laid out overtones of both, the X and the Zero series. Zero is mentioned in the article, so he probably would have been in the game (an added bonus would have had him playable with Red Steel 2 sword mechanics for his Z-Saber), but adding a human contrast to it, something never actually seen in the X series is something a lot of fans have wanted for a long time. There's plenty of good Megaman X fanfiction out there depicting the Maverick Hunters in a similar light to how modern cop shows depict a local police precinct and it's a lot of fun to juxtapose that image onto what this game could have been.

Not really sure how Retro Studios Armadrillo Armature would have handled dialogue since Metroid Prime was completely free of it (barring Corruption, which was good, despite how little there was), but depending on that, they could have pulled off the human guy pretty well without homogenizing the game into becoming some Hollywood-esque AAA title.

If the FPS ones looked more like singular glowing lemons than a spray of tiny lines I'd be happy ,)

I'm conflicted with this one. On the one hand, it's fucking Megaman, and it needs more love. On the other hand...

Bomberman bombed (pun intended) mainly because of terrible gameplay mechanics and controls. People could've gotten over the grimdark reboot if it played really well.

It's also a weird comparison because B:AZ played just like the original did, but with shit controls and nooooo variety whatsoever. I'm pretty sure it only had one room type in the entire game? We don't know how much they'd mix up this megaman, but it's not really faithful to the original games whatsoever.
