I recently decided to give Dragon Age: Origins and Dragon Age 2 a spin after years of procrastination, and I gotta say, this is truly a phenomenal series. I love the lore, characters, and gameplay, abd the element of choice in both is up there with the likes of Mass Effect. (Then again, they're both from BioWare, so I shouldn't be surprised.)

Is anyone else here a fan of the franchise? I can say with absolute confidence that I am. As we speak I'm scouring the internet, looking for any bits of information regarding the next game that I can.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

Thought the first one was awesome and the second was a waste of time. Don't own either though, so my word doesn't really count for much since I haven't played either a lot.

I'm one of the odd ones out who liked Dragon Age II, purely because of the political setting used, which is really an unusual setting for an RPG. It was different...which intrigued me.

If you like political intrigue in your RPGs, I think you'll love The Witcher 2. I can't say the same for the first game given that I've yet to play it, but the second game is loaded with it. Really, the entire series is truly an RPG for adults, partly for some of the sexual content, but mostly for the complexity of the story. Besides, Geralt is an amazing character that has the right kind of amnesia.

Switching gears back to Dragon Age, I'm with Arem. The second game's story is a lot more political and personal, which I love. Like I said, the characters in DA2 are incredibly well done - well, aside from Fenris. I didn't care much for him, and that fucker abandoned me at the end. I personally prefer Anders, Isabela, and Varric.

Being the kind of guy I am, the first romance I sprung for was maleHawke and Anders. Rather tragic...

I went after Isabela. I was rather caught off guard when she ran off during Act 2.

Also, is it just me, or does BioWare have no idea how to properly handle the warrior class? Even with decent weapons and a ton of physical damage boosts from my gear, plus the passive from Reaver, I still couldn't pump out the numbers that Isabela or Varric could.

The warrior is a tricky one, but a favorite is the Weapon + Shield one because it's the swiftest attacks. I personally use the two-handed since it feels more useful than it did in the first time LOL. Personally, I focused more on knocking the enemies off their feet so my other teammates could deal more damage.

Ah, Isabela. Keeping her on the team can be a royal bitch.

It was a pain to keep her around, yeah. I found she responded really well to sarcastic/charming responses, so that was a huge help. I'm rather surprised she never brought up my frequent visits to the Blooming Rose.

She would probably encourage it.
