Suddenly, everything becomes nothing. All colors fade, leaving you in nothingness. No matter, no light, or anything. However, you look down, and you can still see your body, illuminated as though bathed in light. Around you, other forms materialize as if from nowhere, taking on the forms of other people. As you all become hole, you attempt to speak, but your words are inaudible. With your hands, you attempt to make other forms of noise; snapping fingers, slapping your body, but nothing sounds forth. Curious, you look around more, and once more, a figure materializes from the pure nothingness. It is humanoid; its form is withered and gnarled with age, draped in thick white robes. It stands, devoid of any gender-defining characteristics, with long, wispy, white hair poking out from inside the hood. Looking toward the group, it raises its frail-looking arms and opens them It then speaks, its voice silent and calm, yet somehow simultaneously deep and commanding. "As I thought, you retained both your identity and form. Not many who are pulled from their plane of existence retain such things. I'm sure most of you are curious; how and why were you brought here, as well as where you currently are. However, you cannot even ask, yes?" Between the figure's opened arms, motes of light flickered into view, beginning to swirl around and duplicate, one for each of you floating in the nothingness. Without warning, they shoot off toward each of you, penetrating your chest. Instead of wounding you, they cause your bodies to fizzle and almost dissipate, opposite of how you formed in this realm. Instead, it integrated itself in your particles and once again, you became whole. "There. Now, you deserve your explanations. Ask, and I will answer." Edited by Emerald Spirit, Sep 11 2013, 09:26 PM.

(I keep forgeting to post in this.) The void was all encompassing and muted all the senses to the point where one who was within could no longer determine whether they were still living or not. It was a bizarre sensation, even for one who has lived so long and experienced so much, and it continued to encompass the individual before it finally dissipitated, at least partially. The individual known as Adrian Bartholomew stood in the vast expanse of nothingness, surrounded by many faces, mostly unknown to him. Before him stood the form of a creature; one so ancient and powerful that Adrian could feel it within the depths of his soul. He stood in place as it spoke, awaiting a response from the others surrounding him before piping up himself. It took a few moments before his voice was restored and with that, he spoke, the first of the group to do so. "I think the obvious first choices would be "what is this place?" and "why are we here?", though I'm sure many more would arise given the course of this discussion". He remained in position, his arms folding across his chest as his dark blue suit shuffled around his body to accomodate the change in position. A serious, yet forgiving expression adorned his features as he awaited a response. |

"There. Now, you deserve your explanations. Ask, and I will answer." "Listen here Jawa. I demand you tell me why you brought me with Alucard over there" Kyosuke pointed at Adrian. "I hate Castlevania you know. Except for Lords of Shadows, that was OOOOOOOOO JAPAN! Okay, enough of this, take me through the Exiles comic book series already....I wanna see myself in other dimensions! He he he he he!" he addressed the figure that seemingly brought him to the strange realm. "Maybe.......I'll get to see myself with a moustache! OLE! ESPANYOL! EL ZORRRRRRRO! He he he he! Of course, this sort of thing really couldn't go unnoticed by a certain Nightmare, who had neatly inserted himself into this scenario as everyone else had. "Ooooh, I don't really have any questions to be answered right off the bat, except maybe your policy on looting alternate dimensions. Preferably things used by villains." And naturally, he wasn't taking this scenario particularly seriously. Such is the whim of a being who has entirely too much time and power on his hands. |

((Post is in temporary condition. I'll be doing fancy font stuff and refinement later. This was a fuckin WALL to write, and I'm a bit wiped from doing it.)) "You are correct. Answering your question the way it is phrased would offer less explanation than no response at all. On one level, we currently do not exist; in a literal sense, we are outside of existence. All around you lies the entirety of existence, but you cannot see it. Your minds and essences both are quite unable to grasp how they truly appear. I wouldn't even know how to describe it to you, as it may be beyond language." The elderly figure began to pace on an invisible solid plane, its cane oddly thudding against whatever the invisible surface was. "In a matter of few words...I extracted you from your Reality and placed you here. Not to worry, I pulled you from a peaceful moment of your life. You were idle, and this 'place' being outside of space and time, no task of yours has been interrupted. As for why...well..." "Let me begin by introducing myself. I am known as The Watcher." The being's hand released its cane, leaving it still, stuck in place. "From infinity, forward and back, I have been here, observing the Realities around us." With open palms, the Watcher formed motes of light before him, first portraying a galaxy, the Milky Way, and it shrunk away, appearing to move away and present an undulating mass of swirling light and dark matter, unique to each observer's eyes. "Your universe, appearing in a form you could never see with physical eyes. Currently, in a perfect state. However..." The many unique representations came into view for the others, all intersecting visibly. "All of your home universes meet, resulting in a Nexus of some form. It is currently where you all reside. In reality, you are an extension of your original self, projected into this 'extra' Nexus-Universe. It exists in a corner of your Realities, and you are all miraculously able to interact. Truly a rarity in the entirety of Reality." The Watcher marveled at the image it put before the group, watching as the Fifth-Dimensional knot of Spacetime gently rotated. "However! Such a unique beast creates unique issues. Normally, Universes procreate alone, extending themselves from things as complicated as a moment of time travel changing a timeline, or even something as simple as an idea. A new Universe sprouts forth and grows within a Reality, or even finds itself in a new Reality, creating new rules and physics to accommodate the new Universe. Your Nexus-Universe, having all your Universes growing together has caused...cross-contamination. Your Universal progeny are growing out of control, with far too many offshoot timelines, as well as stillborn and outright malignant Universes. It is very akin to cancer, damaging all Universes around them, and preventing proper growth." A visual representation of such events begins to transpire in the projection. A distinctly discolored Universe suddenly bloated and collapsed in on itself, taking large chunks of nearby stars and dark matter into it. "You are familiar with black holes? Something as massive as a star collapses in on itself and creates a massive gravity well which is powerful enough to render matter to its most basic of forms. Imagine how much larger a Universe is than a star, and imagine what it does to the surrounding Realities. The result is a chain collapse, eventually destabilizing Realities, and eventually threatening all of Existence itself." Darkness spreads all around the Watcher, swirling from the projection, consuming all the light previously conjured, and being snuffed out before cracking loudly and delivering an earth-shattering explosion. "The main element these unhealthy universes share is a unique...'heritage', if you will. Instead of a single Universe producing these, it comes from two ore more 'parent' universes, but only having enough resources for a single Universe, you see. It cannot sustain itself because it lacks key elements. People, events, places and such. You all, coming as representatives of the Nexus-Universe and your home Universes actually carry the power to change events and the like in these unhealthy ones. Normally, such a thing I would never ask of anyone but...you are to meddle." With another swirl of its hands, the Watcher presents a planet surrounded by an odd looking bubble. "This is an entry point. It will be an empty planet, within the Universe's version of your home cluster. It is where you'll enter such a Universe. From there, you will physically materialize on your home planet and are to begin your research on how it differs, and find a way to stabilize it all. How it is done is entirely dependent on who goes, what elements are missing, and what Universe you are in from the beginning. I trust in your skills and intelligence to suss out such things. That is why I dragged you here." With a long exhale, the Watcher rested, sitting down in a chair that was not present the moment before he sat. The Nightmare proceeded to ask his question regarding the looting of any parallel universes. "An interesting thought...however, you would not be able to literally take something from one to another. However, as your will is strong enough to maintain a form whilst only being your essence proves that you can bring a copy of whatever items or matter you come across if you so wish, as well as your experiences. When you return to your home Nexus, you can choose whether or not to take your experiences out here with you. You may choose to forget them, or elect to bring them with you if you learned something interesting from another being. As your home is such a Nexus, it suffers no threat from such things, unlike a normal Universe." With a smile, it turned to face Kyosuke. "An interesting thought...but aren't Jawas usually shorter? And less hairy?" With one last turn to the group sitting before it, the Watcher spread its arms. "If there are no more questions, I release you to your task! You are all adults...within reason. I trust your judgment. You are free to begin wherever you please. You may not be able to directly visually observe a Universe from the outside, but your essences hold a certain sense to detect whether or not a universe is relevant to it or not. If there are any questions at any time, you all have the ability to come back here and ask me whatever you please." Edited by Emerald Spirit, Jul 10 2013, 12:36 PM.

"A satisfactory answer. Well then, I suppose it's time to go off and fix realities." The Nightmare's sole question was answered, and he proceeded to go to the entry point specified. While it may not be entirely certain how he managed to do that, one could assume it may be best not to ask. Of course, tossing someone like him out there was a less than logical choice to begin with, but even an oddball can help if placed in the right scenario. |

Adrian nodded, taking in all that was said and understanding what was at stake. Reality itself had become a victim of its own designs and this "Watcher" has seen fit to send heralds to see to it that things were returned to stability. As he proceeded towards the entry point, he stopped himself short, turning back to The Watcher "Just one more query before I depart; if these realities are so different from ours, considering each one has sprouted up from the most minute of changes, then how are we to decide what it is exactly that we need to "fix"? For all we know, we could end up in a reality completely opposite to ours and, in turn, nothing would seem right to us." |

"That is true...if that were the case, it is likely you aren't meant to be there alone. You would certainly need assistance from an important figure, someone who's the key for the lock, in a sense. One way or another, at least one person from your Nexus-verse could make sense of it, given the origins of these new Universes. That isn't to say that you're not meant to be there, not at all, you're simply not the only part of the stabilizing catalyst. You're incredibly unlikely to come across an 'impossible' situation, I'm sure of it." The Watcher nodded. "However, in the event that you need the help of someone not present, let me know, and I can have their essence brought to you. I'll likely have some sort of insight I can provide you as well. I have been observing Existence for countless eons. Oh!!" A sudden look of fright and shock flashed over The Watcher's face. "The single most important detail I forgot! To those of you, mortal or otherwise, please heed me! If your body in the new Universe is killed, your essence will be ejected and you will NOT be able to re-enter it! And do not let anything follow you out of the Universe and Reality! If so, not only is your own existence is in danger, but all of Existence as well! There are some truly frightening things in these dying Universes!!" Edited by Emerald Spirit, Jul 12 2013, 11:03 AM.

Aroxys stopped short of the mark when the Watcher spoke again. "Oh, that is a troublesome development." While it was impossible to actually see thanks to his face plate, his normally shark-like smile was turned into a frown. "Death does not come easily to my kind, but I suspect that some of these cancerous Universes may house similar beings. That would be most irritating. Still, this is why I asked about taking things back. Even if it's things I've merely recreated, I have no doubt that what I may find in one Universe may prove oddly useful in another." |

"So someone present on this journey will have the ability to guide us through this then? Or we could seek assistance from a local of that universe...I see. I suppose we'll have to figure it out on our own then." Adrian proceeded to step through the portal, which led to their entry point; as The Watcher said, it was a barren, uninhabited place, much like a blank slate, waiting to be occupied with something. He took a quick look around, about as confused as everyone else present before finally speaking out. "So, now what? How do we get to the infected universe?" |

"Well, if we're gonna go Quantum Leaping, I gotta get my uniform on. Bee are bee. The screen suddenly turned pitch black, with a caption in bold white filling the screen; the caption stated "Several minutes later..." A disco ball descended from the "ceiling", with ground converting to small tiles, alternating the colours each tile emitted. Kyosuke had an afro atop his head, and wore a shirt whose buttons where unbuttoned till he is navel, exposing his chest hair; a pair of long stretchy baggy pants occupied his lower half. Three black afro-haired women stood behind Kyosuke in front of microphones. "She's crazy like a fool...." he sang in a low pitched sound. "What about Daddy Cool?" the women sang along. |

"How do you get there? You are there! But this is a null Universe. Everywhere you go in it, you'll find nothing but dead, empty worlds. This one never stood a chance, choked out by the cancer surrounding it. From here, you can simply explore, perhaps have me inform you further. This is your hub, more or less. Return here when done with your job, or when you need guidance. As it stands, however, there is no wrong way to get started. Whatever Universe you will yourself into next is one where you will be necessary. It's a bit like destiny, in a way. Wherever you end up, you will be able to help there, and you will not be the only one. Good luck!" |

"Alright then." Adrian was not really sure what he was getting himself into anymore, but he decided to, at the very least, try to make the best of a confusing situation. He stood in place, the barren plains surrounding him aiding his concentration as he focused his thoughts on where he needed to be. He tried to keep his thoughts negative, hoping it would affect the outcome of where he would end up, wanting to end up in a place that was actually in a dire situation as opposed to being transposed onto a world that was completely fine. It took a few moments but, something finally appeared to be happening; his body was surrounded by a swirling energy that enveloped him and, the next moment, he was in a completely different location. The trip was disorienting, as Adrian felt light headed and wobbled on his feet for a few moments before leaning on a nearby wall. He began to inhale deep breaths for a few seconds before finally feeling comfortable enough to stand on his two legs again. The first thing he noticed was that he was in an alleyway. The second thing he noticed was that it was an incredible clean alleyway. He cautiously stepped out and found himself gazing upon something out of a science fiction film; he was apparently in the midst of a large metropolis, with plenty of high rises and very oddly shaped buildings. The streets were incredibly clean, occupied by floating vehicles and people dressed in very strange attire, in comparison with his own business suit. He held his hand to his forehead, rubbing it lightly while maintaining his position in the alley. He did not want to step out and rouse suspicion as it was better to maintain anonymity for the duration of the mission, or at least, for as long as it was permissible. He began to focus his thoughts on The Watcher, in a bid to gain better insight into his situation. "I don't suppose it's possible for one of these universes to be at a different point of time than our own? Also, are you sure this place is in trouble, because quite frankly, it looks fine to me." |
