For a fighter, I can understand the need for a high FPS, but a survival horror that made "tank controls" famous? That's just splitting cock hairs. If you're going to make the argument that it's unnecessary then it kind of defeats the point of remaking a remake (holy shit I just realized how stupid that sounds) to start with - it's not like the original game is unplayable or anything, and if you're going to revisit it two gens later (especially when one of those gens was effectively two gens in length by itself) you really have no excuse not to make it the definitive version by a pretty huge or at least decently noticable margin. Literally the only reason these remakes exist is for an aesthetic upgrade - why even bother with them if you're not going to do even that? Looking back now that I just noticed something else that kind of irritated me - how fucking hard is it to run a twelve year old game in 1080p even on 360 hardware? That's just absurd and sad.

Unless they can prove that Toei used identical coding and data management techniques for transferring the save files, that aren't considered to be generic enough to the hardware's standard features, they don't have shit. It should be worth noting that I could not find any links to either the patent or the legal claim in the japanese source article.
