"We'd like to steer away from making the next game such that skilled players will win, but unskilled players will lose almost instantaneously," Tsujimoto said.

As a means to achieve that (prevent unskilled players from losing instantaneously), Capcom is looking into possibly implementing some kind of pay-for-advantage system in Street Fighter 5 that will allow new players to cover for their lack of skill in matches.
So let me get this straight... Capcom, the inventors of Street Fighter and practically by consequence the genre, has had nearly three whole decades to implement any semblance of a learning curve in their games... but now that the subject of newbies has come up, rather than make any genuine attempt to cater to them or create an experience where the only way to learn how to play is to basically be a masochist, they're just implementing pay-to-win microtransactions instead?

Even if I were to entertain the notion that this is somehow a good idea:

I'd rather have that to be honest. Hell, I can never hate on the Konami code nor could I hate on anybody who uses it.

Too lazy to do it myself but I'd put the Street Fighter or Capcom logo at the top and the text read "Keep calm and charge account for the round/KO"

Edit: UPDATE from Ono himself

Ono resigns from director position of Vancouver division. Who wants to bet that subsidiary gets liquidated?

I doubt that but if it does happen then fans (Dead Rising) will want an amazing explanation to say the least.

Capcom's shareholders end takeover defense. This means that if any other company decides to buy majority shares of Capcom, then they could be bought by an outside firm.

The end is nigh.

Much as I hate what Capcom's become, their IPs in EA's hands would be even worse, and Nintendo would probably just make them a Mega Man factory again at the expense of everything else. I'm not convinced yet this is entirely good news, honestly.

I think Nintendo would probably use them as a way to experiment with new genres that they're not well known for/don't have much experience with making by having them create new games using their existing IPs. Or at least, I'd like to think so.

But yeah, it's a mixed bag, though I'm not really sure that anything at this point is going to be worse. If EA buys Capcom, they'll just milk everything that everyone has pretty much already lost interest in anyway. How much more nickel and diming do you think they'll do with the next Street Fighter? How much could they possibly make the next DmC any more Western oriented than the last game was? It'll just pretty much be one blob absorbing another blob and gaining more mass, in the form of IPs. They won't be doing anything differently than Capcom has already done.

A dude in SSMB just mentioned there's actually a law against western companies fully controlling Jap ones. So that rules out a majority of the usual suspects (EA, Ubisoft, Microsoft etc).

Unfortunately that still means we have to deal with Squeenix if they turn out to be interested. Which means we might actually get some pretty good (albiet different) games but they won't be able to market and budget it worth a shit if the Tomb Raider three are any indication.

As long as the company that buys them out can produce a quality Megaman Legends / Powerstone game, I'm fine with whoever it is.
