Crapcom making an overpriced board game that no one asked for? Sounds about right.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

@Aroxys Wasn't this kickstarted? Capcom would have to give the green light for something like that (probably getting most of the money it'll make) if they saw it could make money so you can't blame them. While I personally don't care for it, I can definitely find it more appealing than the glasses and the Mega-Cat.

This will not make a lot of money. Seriously, how many people do you know still play board games?

The only board game people bust out and have a smile on their faces with around here is the Pokemon Board Game (and Pokemon Monopoly). Capcom's thought of this possibly making a lot of money might also be on the same mindset that mobile gaming is the way to go.

I dabble in the occasional Risk or chess, but there's never anyone around to play with. Let's face it, kids these days are more into tablets and cheap flash games available on app stores. No one's going to buy this board game, not even tabletop players.

I fucking love Risk. That and Axis & Allies are very fun games (just need people to play). You're not wrong though. More people (not just kids) would rather play Monopoly or Scrabble (and even card games can be added to this) on tablets.

Look at all these people who don't know what they're talking about.

Board games are as popular as ever, just not in the family-home environment. While I've only been to about a dozen different FLGS', the one thing in common is that they sell plenty of board games and often you will find people playing them there. FLGS' often have dedicated board-game days and weekend events, and in these events they often get pretty packed. The main exclusion is more of stores that act as comic stores first that otherwise sell Magic cards and do FNM.

The Megaman board game will certainly be purchased mainly by Megaman fans, even the ones that supposedly boycott Capcom for their abuse of the franchise. If the game itself is decent, it's bound to show up in FLGS'.

I thought Capcom kickstarted this. My general gripe with this is that if it was Capcom that did this, it's still something no one asked for originally but as Ekoi pointed out people will buy anyway. It's just... why a board game?

FLGS?

Friendly Local Game Store. Typically sells product in trading card games, miniature war games, RPGs, board games, and any applicable combinations thereof. Often sell comic/manga goods as well, since many FLGS are expanded-upon comic shops.

Megaman figures and statues have always been in high demand, and developing a board game is incredibly inexpensive compared to even a 2d platformer shooter videogame. Production may cost more than DVDs/SD cards, but the costs-saved from developing the game can be considered worth-while to corporate, and because it was kickstarted it's an even smaller investment. (No making a hundred thousand extra copies right off the bat that may not sell as intended)
