And they hope to meld gameplay with story telling in a way so that they won't have to use cutscenes all the time. Among other things.

As for the game's story, Straley emphasized the main characters and their survival as the driving force of the narrative. He wants to connect players to the game's protagonists, stating, "if we're doing our job right, you as the player feel aligned with the motivations of these characters." The connection between player and character will thus add more weight to players' choices, particularly when it comes to balancing survival and humanity. "If you don't have food in your stomach and you know your neighbor has something in their kitchen," Straley elaborated, "when do you knock on their door and when do you just break it down?"

Oh hey, I heard about this, and it looked pretty cool. Just as long as they don't pull an Uncharted 3, I'm in support of this.

I'm necro'ing this because this game comes out next week.

C'mon, who's as excited as me for this release? I know nothing about it other than the story and a couple of characters, because it's always fun that way. Adds more surprises and shit.

I finished it just now lol.

What a fantastic game. Challenging, too. I checked out the statistics on my first playthrough on Hard and I got a whopping 104 deaths. That's just embarrassing for my gaming career.

I can say with honesty this is probably the best game I've ever played. It's an emotional rollercoaster all the way through with lots of twists to keep you well into it, so much so that I'm mega depressed now that it's over. I'm looking into starting on Survivor difficulty soon, which'll prolly triple my current death count.

Just adding my input from another forum. Go get this, seriously.

I haven't picked it up yet, because I forgot that I pre-ordered it before I moved. So it's at the old EB store, rather than the new one that I went to today to grab New Leaf. Yeaaaaaaa. Will need to go down there to grab it before they try and sell it on me.
