Toonami hijacks Cartoon Network's 2012 [adult swim] April Fool's broadcast; A possible permanent return is still in debate

Raining on your parade with a truckload of awkward awesomeness.

Every year on April Fool's, the US Cartoon Network pulls a prank of some sort, which has seemed to be an airing of The Room in place of the usual. However, this year, old fans of CN's old Toonami block went bonkers:

The usual airing of The Room was quickly cut off by the robotic host of Toonami, TOM, taking control for one night and showing off various anime that used to air back then, starting with Bleach. It seems someone at FUNimation Entertainment tipped off a hint about this a few days prior.

To end off, TOM presented his own short review of BioWare's Mass Effect 3, giving it a decent 8.5, citing the weak ending to the story:

Personally, I missed out entirely as, not only am I not in the US, but the Cartoon Network here axed both Toonami and [adult swim], with [adult swim] moving over to the Comedy Channel.

It seems unlikely that Cartoon Network (or any company, for that matter) would go to all the trouble of creating all new CG and even updating TOM's look for a one-off. Hell, they even got Steve Blum to reprise his role as TOM's VA. But it seems that Cartoon Network is looking for feedback to see if it's worth giving a permanent time slot from now on.

If anyone wants it, they best make their voice heard.

I mentioned that in YLYL :P~~
It was a bit refreshing... even though they played spoiler episodes or last episodes to shows I never watched. They should've started out with first episodes. I remember one year they edited in mustaches on all characters on every show.

That reminds me of an old Looney Toons cartoon I saw once.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

I'm not sure if I already posted this somewhere on the boards before, but this is as good a topic as any to do so:

24/7 streaming of all the shows that made Toonami great back in the day. If Cartoon Network doesn't make it legit, you can at least indulge with this and, in all honesty, when I first found out about it, I sat on it for a couple of days, practically constantly. There's a schedule, forums a chat...it's fantastic.

Saturday night DBZ action was a very pleasant surprise (crazy nostalgia). I thought I may have smoked too much but it was all worth it lol. Toonami should definitely come back if possible! A big thank you to Adult Swim for that.

The one thing I would hate about it being aired again officially is that it's just old shit repeating itself.
I like when they try introducing new stuff.

Hell, they aired a nude scene with censoring that night from Tenchi, they should really consider airing Ranma.

It wouldn't surprise me if they replayed some older shows, but that's kind of one part of it that many wouldn't mind. They're not dumb enough to just put re-runs only anyway. New things will be provided if they want to make it work, now whether they will re-air many old shows and then bring in new things or have both at the same time I'm not sure but neither are bad options for those who want it back.

I think keeping old shows on as a permanent part of the channel would be the best idea, it's sorta Toonami's trademark. They were airing shows like DBZ and Gundam Wing all the way to the end and this was because these shows were popular and people loved them. Throwing in new stuff would be great, they should pile on stuff like the new Thundercats and air it alongside the old one.

I'd think it would work best if they did it for one day of the week, like how Saturdays are for anime.... or they would have to replace that... or revamp it into the oldschool lineup.
