While I wasn't surprised we didn't have a topic, since I don't see any reason anyone would have to buy this thing, I figured I'd at least make one to have an infodump in case someone did. First order of business?

http://playstationlifestyle.net/2012/02/22/how-to-save-your-ps-vita-from-the-blue-light-of-death-and-how-to-reboot/

Apparently, the Vita blue light of deaths or something, so here's a way to fix it.

I think I posted something similar to this in the 3DS thread a few months back:

http://mynintendonews.com/2012/07/25/playstation-vita-projects-being-moved-to-wii-u/

I didn't really think the Vita would succeed, it doesn't really have much to offer both, in the way of innovation or interesting games.

I'm not surprised. I'm beginning to wonder why Sony is still even in the handheld game. Sure, the PSP had some fire, but beyond that, there was no real future for it.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

The PSP's best games are the ones least likely to sell, at least in the Western market. Trying to create some kind of technological, all-in-one handheld (as is true to the Sony standard, let's make a gaming console that does everything and, oh yeah, it might be able to play games too, I think) isn't going to help it sell like hotcakes.

Turns out that the most recent firmware update for the PlayStation Vita (1.80) now locks memory cards to a single Sony Entertainment Network account. So, if you're one of those people who would use multiple region accounts to dwnload software from the Vita Store to circumvent the whole "lack of certain digital games in certain regions" bullshit (e.g. Spyro the Dragon STILL not available for download in Australia) but keep all of it on one memory card, you won't be able to access the content from other regions, because the Vita won't let you access the memory card if you're using a different account than what the card is linked to.

Here's a NeoGAF thread, which serves as the source's source.

Wow, how crappy a service can you put forth, Sony? Or rather, Sony Computer Entertainment America. With the PlayStation Vita still not really having a very great software line-up, it seems that old PSX and PSP games are the only things tiding users over. However, while Japanese users had access to over 200 PSX titles at launch, neatly converted for Vita use, US users got a measly nine to start off, out of a promised 100+. Hell, even Europe got 50 titles to tide them over, including the first three Crash Bandicoot games. From what I could see in the video, none of the games that the US had were ones that I even remotely cared for, or knew of.

Since then, Sony has been slowly preparing PSX games for Vita use, but not nearly as fast as they should be. The only other alternative isn't any better.

Sony has had absolutely no common sense when launching new consoles after the PS2. Seriously, if it isn't one fuck up, it's another.

Yeah I think it's a nice system, but the price of everything is just too much... but then so was the 3Ds. They were advertising it just fine when it started, but I don't see commercials anymore. At this point I probably rather have a vita than my 3Ds... I've only bought like one game for it every since launch because I hate the prices of handheld games, and the rest that's on mine are demos. I guess with my psn+ I'd get free games for it every one to two weeks and discounts... so that would also be a "plus" right about now. The system right now is STILL $250 new, and used on Amazon it's $175. I'd go for $125... but that's a long way off.

So you'd rather have a handheld with the exact same games as the ones on your PS3 as opposed to one with much more variety instead?

Gravity Rush felt amazing when I played the demo at Best Buy, but yeah it'd be nice to have some of those titles... not the ones same from the ps3. Honestly my 3ds hurts my pinky finger after enough use, it just doesn't feel right.

Gravity Rush IS a pretty awesome game, I'll give you that. I don't get the gripes about how the 3DS is always touted as being uncomfortable. Yeah, it was awkward at first, but after playing it enough it's become second nature. Even stuff like Kid Icarus, which people claim is a nightmare to play, has become really easy. Maybe it's because I have ridiculously small hands...

Anyway, I'd love to see the Vita flourish and actually pump out games that matter, but Sony's doing a terrible job with the thing as it's entire current library is either PS3 ports or spinoffs of PS3 games that play identically to their console counterparts. There's very little in the way of innovation or originality, with maybe a number of games I can count on one hand that are really worth getting a Vita over.

Your pinky hurts? You shouldn't even be using that finger.

He probably has it propped up against the one of the handheld's angles for extended periods of time, which would probably cause it to hurt.
