I'm going to have to side with Luffy on this. Even with the Vita at a more tolerable price at launch for the basic package, it still more or less failed or is failing miserably. I don't here a lot of pride in having a Vita. I've actually stopped buying all products from Sony in order to avoid any backlash that might occur if they suddenly fold. |

I saw the vita failing from the start... you can't really compete with a Nintendo handheld that does 3D at a lower price a year after the competitor's release and expect it to be a big hit. The market's got enough hand-held portable devices for gaming as it is. And with the psp being easily piratable, gamers didn't have as much incentive for a new one with no real breakthrough in technology and official memory cards costing an arm and a leg. But I have faith in them on consoles, they've never made a bad home console. I think Sony's going to put all their cards on the table for this one, give gamers a fair price, and have some awesome eye candy and surprises for us in a month. Damn I sound like such a fan boy... but that's how I feel about it.

I don't see how they can. They are billions of dollars in the red, their credit rating is shit, and they continue to make poor choices. The PS4 is going to have to be a miracle in the box. |

That's why I think it'll be great. They're going to do everything to make sure they can't fail because they're in the red. |

I'm pretty much of the opinion that making a miracle is going to take more money than they've got, and would still require them to sell at below cost price They are not going to have a good future |

I'm not saying the company isn't in trouble, I'm just saying that they always make great shit and we shouldn't expect the worse just yet. |

Honestly? I have yet to buy a Sony product that's lasted more than 3 years without screwing up on me. That goes the same for their consoles too. Sorry Havoc, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree; I have yet to be impressed with something Sony has put out all the way from begining to end. I have very little faith in the company as a whole, let alone their gaming division. |

I loved the PS2 to bits and despite that it still chugs away contently if I plug it in (actually I can't test that because it's six hours away at my parents house but it did last time I tried) but I never bought a Sony console for the games Sony put on it rather than third parties and it's been 13 good years now since that thing was released They've lost most of the IPs I would ever be interested in and they seem to be falling farther and farther from the console I loved with every new piece of technology they design, not to mention the fact that they don't actually have any money even right now Maybe they'll pull some last minute rabbit out of their hat? But like, all signs seem to point to no |

Well my PS1 PS2 and PS3 still work.. dating back as far as 1996. I've never had a Sony product break on me, I think you've just had some bad luck. They still have a ton of great IPs worth getting. The only IPs that 360 have that are worth getting are for Gears of War and Halo. Used to be Mass Effect too, but that switched over. Nintendo might have the best IPs in my opinion, but I think it'll be too far behind in the tech aspect of the new console wars to really impress me enough. Their great IPs don't even usually come out until 2 years after they've made their systems... which is the best time to buy it because the price will probably be $100 less. Or if they keep releasing different versions of the PS3 to keep the price up like they have god knows how many times. The 360 is guilty of this, I know, but it's only had one radical redesign, and I remember the PS3 having at least two. Edited by Arem, Feb 9 2013, 10:55 PM.

I don't think the slim or super slim cost any more than the original while prices were lowered over time... actually I'm pretty sure they lowered the price even more each time they redesigned it, came with a few free games, and it had more gb. It also saved people money because it consumed less power. 360 charged more for the Elite version.... which I bought after mine RROD'd. SKU history

I could go on all day about how ugly and uncomfortable this thing looks, but I suppose I should at least be greatful that it appears they ditched the PS3's shoulder buttons. How Sony could ever leave on a control implement that is literally painful to play with and never thought to fix it just boggles the mind. I also think it's fucking stupid they had to ditch Start / Select entirely just to cram a touchscreen into the controller. I get that they're probably going to shove them onto the touchscreen instead but that wastes screen space on an already tiny screen, and the ability to pause is really not something I want to have to take my attention off the game for. |

I miss the shoulder buttons, it felt easier to access. That and the missing gap are the only two problems I have with it. |
