They're trying to prevent anyone from finding day one glitches by completely cutting them off.

Good reasoning bad execution.

Do you think that with 12 days left still until launch that Sony or Nintendo wouldn't have attempted to "silence" somebody as well if in the same situation? There are people who are legally bound to keep this stuff private until a specific time and those who slip through the cracks will end up being "silenced" and/or given something (in the case of Moonlight). While I'm all for finding info out early, I will acknowledge the consequences that will be faced by those who provide said info.

I don't like Microsoft as of late but seriously this is stupid to pick at M$ for, especially since they didn't do anything so bad in the end to somebody like Moonlight who wasn't even banned from Live (temporary console ban until launch, such a big deal eh?) and get invited to the console launch event. Can anybody honestly believe that Sony or Nintendo wouldn't attempt to shut somebody up somehow who got their hands on their console about 2 weeks before it's first launch (region)?

The execution isn't anything that we can complain about because it's not like he was harmed, was he? Was he taken to court? Will he be back on XBox Live on launch day? Will his video be back up before launch day? If you were in a business, would you not try to keep private info from spreading before it's intended to? "Leaked" info is intentional sometimes, but when not, what usually happens? Don't they try to take it down somehow unless it spreads too much? The reasoning is good and the execution is nothing bad in all honesty. I think people are just getting stirred up by M$ on this because it's obvious the good and bad would be pointed out, but that would be for all consoles unless some big fan got ahold of it, which usually is the kind of person who would get it so early and post this stuff up.

Oh I don't think it's anything to get up in arms about either way, I'm sure MS has a few surprises and they didn't want them leaked, but the word "ban" has a negative connotation. And I'm sure Sony/Nintendo would do the same damn thing.

And I'd have the same reaction, which would be "Oh well"

I'm more so trying to figure out why people are getting worked up over this issue though. A ban is a ban, and to people who knows the difference between a temporary ban v. a permanent ban, it makes a big difference. In this case it's a temporary ban on a console, and while ban may seem negative, it's usually suppose to be followed by people reading up on why. I would say that M$ probably should've had a message saying the XBox is suspended instead of banned (or suspended indefinitely) but the fact that it's not permanent sends a different message anyway within the next 5 minutes of reading into this whole thing.

They told them already that it's temporary.

It's just some people trying to make a console war out of nothing

Major Nelson's auctioning off one of those special white Xbox Ones on eBay. It's currently at US$11,100. It comes with a one year Xbox Live Gold subscription and all of Microsoft's first party launch titles. That's Forza Motorsport 5, Ryse: Son of Rome, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, Crimson Dragon, Killer Instinct and Project Spark (for some reason, Spark is only listed on the eBay page and not on Major Nelson's blog post, so that one might not be part of the package.)

All of the funds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project, a charity that provides support for wounded members of the U.S. military.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

A desolate place, without any trace
It's only the cold wind I feel
It's me that I spite, as I stand up and fight
The only thing I know for real
There will be bloodshed!
