More people thinking the "handling" was stupider than the policies.

I do think it was handled stupidly, and the way it was implemented was stupid. The idea in general is great, but there are just too many factors to consider, especially when the box is part of a lot of people's life.

Microsoft is just full of Adam and Don like people.

MS thinks that Kinect can handle a headset's job all on its own, so they're not including one by default.

There are two big problems with this... 1) this means sound will have to be outputted through the speakers, even if you don't want others to hear it, and 2) the Kinect can respond to voice commands coming from the TV by proxy, including "Xbox Off". So yeah, Microsoft just officially made Kinect trolling a thing. Good job, guys.

But wouldn't the Kinect be able to tell the if "you" are actually making the voice command? I mean, it's got your data right in front of it, including mouth movements right?

That does bring up a good idea, although I don't mind if anyone hears other people on my TV, I usually don't have it blasting that it matter myself.

Strange also that they aren't giving a headset, but at the same time, they must assume that the Kinect is a microphone on it's own. That makes sense. But, if the person was to say Xbox Off, wouldn't it turn everyone's off?

*Sees it now, Halo 5 game is starting to suck. Fuck this shit, XBOX OFF!!!* BLAM.

As far as we've seen, voice commands don't actually account for facial movements. Funnily enough though, I wouldn't have brought it up if there wasn't already a case in point - that being the reveal of the Xbone itself, the stream of which could be watched through the 360. Every time someone on stage mentioned a voice command (eg: Xbox, go home), it cancelled the stream for every watcher with a Kinect plugged in. Anybody really could do the same if they spoke loudly and clearly enough, and I'm willing to bet it's already sold certain people on the Xbone just for the opportunity to grief unsuspecting multiplayer-goers through their Kinects.

Including the griefer's, you mean? There are plenty of ways around that:

- Use a headset, which presumably overrides the Kinect's mic.

- Disable your Kinect's voice commands (Microsoft has confirmed you're able to, though Xbox On/Off and the others have to be disabled seperately for some reason)

- Shove some blutack over your Kinect mic.

- Tell someone who gives a shit, and wipe out sizeable portions of the lobby in a heroic kamikaze attack.

Well, the majority of 'em, anyways. I was watching the Xbox One reveal on my 360 and never had a problem. I assume a small number of others had no issues with the stream while the Kinect was also connected.

Okay, normally griefers annoy me but I do still enjoy watching their antics if they're clever about it. I look forward to Youtube videos of XBone users doing exactly that to screw with other people.

It would be a funny meme for TV shows to randomly add in the script "xbox off". I'd make it part of a show's theme song.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

This is coming from the company that's still bound to a contract with Microsoft that gives the latter first dibs on all Call of Duty DLC. Oh and also the company who won't release any of their Wii U games in Australia, excluding the aforementioned CoD and Skylanders. Yes, I'm still sore about the lack of Spider-Man Ultimate and Transformers Prime here.
