Only insofar as they used Mountain Dew and Doritos again despite the negative stigma already attributed to them by existing press scandals. If it were up to me, I would've chosen... oh I dunno, Red Bull? |

Way to microsoft. :P Also if I get one, I'll just wait for a game specific special edition to come out (I see you H5) and get that. |

So apparently, there's an XBoner protest movement out there called "Xbox Shun". Seems to be picking up pace. |

Normally I don't post interview videos, but this one is probably the most damning I've ever seen short of Xbox Abridged. tl;dr - They KNEW gamers would react very strongly to this - "created by gamers, for gamers" - Basically tells anyone who doesn't agree with the DRM to get fucked and buy another 360 instead. - Still trying to delude people into thinking a network problem won't start locking people out of their own games eventually, regardless of whether it's on their end or the consumer's. - ''We did a lot of testing and consumer research and I think we made a good choice'' (WHAT) |

Thing is, if they admit they fucked up, then they literally kill themselves and it's game over... so they need to spew bs everywhere. |

Watching the interview, he makes a statement about people saying, "All I want my phone to do is make a phone call, and now look at what all those people are saying and doing with their phones." I get what he's trying to do there, but you don't take a system BUILT for games and do all that shit so rapid/elastically and give it to gamers and say "here ya' go, don't let the door hit ya' cause ya' bitchin' about the internet!" Do I really borrow games and rent? Personally no. Am I not capable of checking in every 24 hours online? No I can do that just fine under most circumstances. Does that truly matter? FUCK NO. You don't tell me what I, the consumer want, you fucking take the system and make it better, not shell it out to shit and expect me to hop on the fucking bandwagon. For God's sake, I want to play games, not get "ENTERTAINMENT aside from games" on my Xbox. That' what I have a laptop for. I love how fanboys are like "what is to stop people from putting one disc between multiple consoles with the install shit". You know how to fucking fix that? Not DRM, how about use the same motherfucking system that has been in place for 10+ years, and if that is becoming obsolete, how about making something that doesn't prevent people from a free market? Sure Gamestop and it's bretheren hurt people and all this bullshit, but you don't see movie stars who get paid gobs of money NOT playing in movies to prevent piracy. I mean hell, Gamestop is merely a handler of money, and it's too much money. But that is why developers team up with the devil, because you CAN'T FIGHT the consumer. The CONSUMER IS YOUR LIFEBLOOD. PROFIT IS NOTHING IF YOU FUCK OVER YOUR CONSUMER. *breath* Sorry, been holding that in... Edited by Arcana Fang, Jun 12 2013, 07:08 AM.

I think the consumers shot themselves in the foot to some extent; whenever I got on the 360, at least one to two thirds of the people on my friends list came on to watch Netflix, or Hulu, or Youtube, or browsed Facebook, or whatever. I always asked myself why people went through all the trouble to get on their consoles to do that, when they have perfectly working TVs or computers that were made for these things. This is the end result of that. |

To avoid changing the channel, obviously. =V According to various sources in neoGAF, stores have been understocking Xbones all over the place. After doing some quick math between their numbers and the PS4's, it's roughly four to one in Sony's favour. I can't claim to know how retail works as far as the VG industry is concerned, but part of me imagines Microsoft may even be doing it deliberately, just for the privalege of shouting "WE SOLD OUT FIRST WE'RE BETTER" even if the numbers are actually mediocre. Turns out this isn't a new tactic either - fuckin' VGCATS did a comic on it back in the day Sony was caught doing the same thing for the PS3 launch... and considering how dire 2006 was for them, I don't envy Microsoft if they've really gotten desperate enough to pull that very same shit. |
