Where do I start with this? While the game's premise is a little bizarre in itself, the concept behind it's creation is even moreso. Apparently, a mangaka or doujin artist had a piece of concept artwork in one of their books for a game centered around girls with disabilities they wanted to make: ![]() ![]() This obviously found it's way onto the internet and onto 4Chan. Some members really warmed up to the idea and decided to go through with making the game. They pooled talent from pretty much all over the world and really put a lot of effort into it. The end result is Katawa Shoujo, a dating sim/visual novel about a guy who starts going to a school that caters to people with disabilities and where he meets a group of girls he can end up in a relationship with. This may seem in poor taste, especially when people consider the fact that 4Chan was involved, but in actuality, it truly is a labour of love. Not only is this game really a heartwarming emotional rollercoaster, but it apparently also helps to raise awareness about people with disabilities. The game is so emotionally deep that it even managed to pierce the very black hearts of 4Chan's regulars: Spoiler: click to toggle The game is completely free and available for download from the link above. If you have any interest in the genre, or the story or anything pretaining to this game, I'd really recommend you give it a go. |

I have a vague interest in this to the point that I have the home page bookmarked on Chrome but fuck it all, I am scared to death beyond my wits of this game. |

I dunno. I would be interested in trying it but not until there's a direct download for it. |

Funnily enough, I heard about this a while back but have yet to play it due to the fact that I'd have to murder my sleep schedule to download it. It seems to be a quality game whose production was taken very seriously, with likeable characters that one could easily warm up to. (I haven't played it, yet Lilly is my uncontested favorite.) |

Not really into VNs myself but my friends that are seem to have wildly varying opinions Some of them think it's amazing and others think it is terrible All of them agree that the writing quality varies considerably depending on who you pick, and the latter group say that even in the best written ones the descriptions are pretty bland and go into far too much detail about totally irrelevant things So yeah, I guess this is a warning that if you don't like one route maybe the others will be better (or maybe you'll think they're all terrible) |

I finally got it a couple of days ago, but I have a bit of a problem with something, I find it kinda hard to imagine going back through all this again to get a different girl. I kinda wanna just stick with who I picked and leave it at that, but some of the other girls seem interesting too. And yes, I know about the Skip Mode thing, that's not really my point. I'm prolly just thinking about it too hard. *gets back to drawing* |

No see, I understand exactly what you're talking about; the reason I'm so adverse to dating sims is because I find all (or most) of the girls in a given scenario interesting, so I can't make up my mind and when I do, I feel like I'm "cheating" when I go back and do it all again with a different girl. This is probably the one time the completist in me is beaten back by my emotional attachment to these fictional characters. |
