I was thinking maybe we can have our own little playground where maybe a bunch of us can get together and help each other out with achievements and stuff. Is it plausible?

We honestly do not have enough people willing to play together to make buying or renting a server worth-while. If you want achievements, there are countless servers designed for earning them, including ones that have chat-commands to unlock all of them at once.

Custom maps would be nice, though, considering how everyone else plays this game, I haven't even seen all the NORMAL maps in this game. Seriously, it's like the only maps in this game are Dust Bowl and 2Fort, I have literally not seen anything else aside from the maps during 2012's Halloween event.

I pointed out buying or renting a dedicated one because in this case it's the practical solution. Most of us here either have shitty internet, due to service quality or location in the world, or do not have great enough rigs to properly run a hosted server and play on it. Cheeves don't really "bring-together" people in this game. With the exception of the huge number counts(like 1m fire damage for pyro) and skill-kill achievements, you can get most of the weapon unlocks in, like, five hours of legit normal playing just by taking into account the ones you need. ("oh, I should try killing people with this pistol for a while") If it's weapons you want, then I am plenty sure that some of us would not mind throwing a bit of our surplus stock at you. If you haven't played on many maps besides dustbowl and 2fort often, that is 100% user-error. Take advantage of the server list of thousands of servers, and better inspect the server's information. "24h 2fort" means the server literally only hosts that map without any rotation. For every 24h-map server there are plenty of servers with rotations on them, be they of a certain genera of map, vanilla maps only, or include custom maps. Look, I'm not trying to shit on your parade or anything, but it seems like you want to invest in something for not so great reasons that certainly will not get the returns you think you will. If you want to bro-it-up then simply get everyone you can together and join a server. With a group of people you have a lot of power as it is, as if you have enough people you can votekick anyone you fucking want. Plenty of servers run RTD mods as well, so if you need your sillyness there's that.

Master Posts: 403 Group: Elite Member #69 Joined: November 11, 2009	If you're ever looking for a good server, never use the Quickplay system. Ever since Valve converted their TF2 servers into solely Mann Vs. Machine servers, the percentage of pure vanilla servers dropped to pretty much zero. If you do happen to use Quickplay, expect to be placed on servers full of bots, servers with no players at all, servers where you can pay money to the admins to get significant gameplay benefits... Which is completely fucking stupid considering turning off random crits and/or standardizing bullet and damage spread disqualifies your server from being on Quickplay. Apparently Valve is okay with mods that make the game unenjoyable and virtually unplayable, but not okay with features they programmed in themselves that make the game more enjoyable.

Everyone's always on Steam but most of the time, no one's playing anything and if they are, they're all doing their own thing. The group we have on there is pointless as no one gets notifications whenever a topic or post is made unless they're moderators so it's useless for organising get togethers or events unless you checked it regularly. It was just a thought, I asked because I wasn't sure how complicated it really was. Then you went and shat on my hopes and dreams and now I'm gonna go cry in the corner. ;-;
