I didn't see a TF2 topic here, so I made one. I also don't know who actually plays TF2, but I need a place to be all "OMG THIS HAPPENED YOU GUIZE". Either way, TF2 is Free-to-Play now, so you really have no excuse for not trying it. Anyway, Australian Christmas 2011 is coming up... Later today. Yesterday, Valve gave us some WETA Workshop inspired weapons (much like the Soldier's a few months ago) for the Pyro and Engineer. THESE ARE THEIR The Brainiac Pack [ENGINEER] The Pomson 6000 Level 10 Indivisible Particle Smasher Does not require ammo Projectile penetrates enemy targets Projectile cannot be deflected On Hit: Victim loses 10% Medigun charge On Hit: Victim loses 20% cloak The Eureka Effect Level 20 Wrench Alt-Fire: Teleport to spawn Cannot carry buildings The Moonman Pack [PYRO] The Phlogistinator Level 10 Flame Thrower All fire damage increases 'Mmmph', activate to refill your health and gain crits for several seconds No airblast No random critical hits The Manmelter 3600 ZX Level 30 Indivisible Particle Smasher Does not require ammo Projectile cannot be deflected Gives one guaranteed crit for every teammate extinguished by this weapon No random critical hits The Third Degree Level 10 Fire Axe Damage transfers to all players connected by Medic beams The weapons look pretty interesting, if I do say so myself. Though the Engineer primary (Pomson 6000) looks a bit overpowered. Edited by Ruris, Dec 13 2012, 06:05 PM.

ARGH. HATE. SATELLITE. I seriously miss being able to match wits with people online. With my internet I can only play against AI, which is a pain in the ass, quite honestly. They tend to be too easy after a while by virtue of being predictable. Though I am probably going to boot it up anyway so I can craft/collect the new Pyro pack, because it's friggin' awesome. |

http://www.teamfortress.com/australianchristmas2011/part2.html Part 2 of the Australian Christmas update, in which there are actual Smissmas-themed weapons and items. Unfortunately, those Smissmas-themed weapons and items are only available in Nice Crates. |

Figures. And I really want the Spycicle too, that sounds like a weapon I could get used to in the times where Eternal Reward just doesn't quite work. |

Unfortunately, I have not managed to get any of the new weapons yet, though I have played against a few of them, and this is how they work: Pomson 6000: The weapons is basically the Righteous Bison, complete with only 4 shots. As with the Bison, the projectile can hit the same enemy multiple times, though the Cloak/UberCharge drain only applies once per projectile. From what I've heard this weapon is extremely obnoxious, since you can essentially ruin UberCharges by just spamming from across the map. Eureka Effect: When you teleport back to spawn, you do a short taunt beforehand, then appear in your current spawn with full health and ammo/metal. Phlogistinator: It takes roughly 200 fire damage to fully charge Mmmph, and upon activation, the Pyro does a taunt. During the activation taunt, you have 90% damage reduction. Manmelter: It's a Flare Gun with infinite ammo and the ability to extinguish and get crits from doing so. Not too useful. Third Degree: Actually seems pretty useful, especially if you can get a couple good hits on someone being healed. Spy-Cicle: Didn't seem too useful to the people who were using it. I burned them, they lost their knife and then I set them on fire again two seconds later. It's also thwarted by any Pyro who knows how to use a shotgun. Holiday Punch: Haven't actually seen this in action yet. Wrap Assassin: It's basically a Sandman that causes bleed instead of stunning. The bleed effect is not increased in any way if you hit them from farther away, like the Sandman's stun is. However, there is a cheer if you manage to hit someone at really long range. The ornament only shatters on hitting an enemy. Edited by Ruris, Dec 19 2011, 08:27 PM.

The spycicle's defence mechanism really isn't amazing but I got one and I will use it anyway just because the ice statues amuse me My friend has a holiday punch and it is beautiful, can't say whether it is actually useful or not though because we don't tend to take our tf2 playing very seriously The laugh stun can actually often give you enough time to tauntkill the enemy His brother has a wrap assassin and it's useless Edited by Jacquerel, Dec 19 2011, 08:34 PM.

TF2 Beta updated recently. There wasn't much in terms of actual changes, but a couple of weapons are undergoing change testing: HEAVY WEAPONS GUY: Tomislav - Removed spin up time bonus - Removed -50 health penalty (from previous beta patch) The Sandvich - Walking over your own thrown Sandvich now recharges your Sandvich bar instead of healing you SPY: The Enforcer - 0.5 second increase in time taken to cloak changed to a 0.5 second increase in time taken to decloak - User is unable to see enemy health while not disguised as an enemy Older Beta Changes still being tested: PYRO: Flamethrower - Base damage increased 10% (all Flamethrowers are affected) The Backburner - Removed +10% damage bonus (does the same damage as in the main game, though) The Degreaser - Added -10% damage penalty in addition to its normal stats SOLDIER: The Equalizer - Removed speed bonus when injured - Soldiers wielding this weapon can now be healed by Medics |

...What. Reactions: Tomislav: Good freaking god, this weapon is fine as it is! Add a health reduction if you must, but the spin-up speed bonus is half the weapon's game! Sandvich: Why?! (in the voice of SatAM Robotnik) Enforcer: Meh, those changes won't affect my playstyle, given my patience. There won't be any 'decloak and sap' action on turrets, but worse comes to worst I'll just change guns or rely on YER to disguise first. Flamethrower: You mean they're giving it some of the power it used to have way back when the game first came out? Backburner: You mean they're considering taking away one of the weapon's main selling points and making it absolutely pointless? Way to take a positive and ruin it. Degreaser: Why?! (same voice) Equalizer: Way to ruin the whole point of the weapon. I really hope only the Flamethrower buff comes to pass as the rest just sucks. |

If they really wanted to make the Flamethrower actually worth using alone (and as a primary weapon, it SHOULD be usable alone), they'd make afterburn better. Sure, it's already stronger than bleed technically, but since every class minus the Soldier and Demoman have a way to remove afterburn... Sandvich: Why not? It makes the shotguns more viable. Backburner: I wasn't aware a bonus 10% damage was the main selling point to the Backburner. I always thought it was the guaranteed crits from behind. But, hey. If you W+M1 at peoples' faces, that's not my problem. Equalizer: I'm not sure if you remember, but the Equalizer was suggested by two people: Tom Francis of Rock Paper Shotgun, and jibberish on the Steampowered forums. Their suggestion(s) was that the Soldier get a weapon that deals more damage as the wielder takes more damage. Valve added the speed boost on their own. Also, it's called Rocket Jumping. Look into it. It gets you close AND powers your Equalizer! Why did the Soldier even need a boost? Not to mention that the Equalizer as it stands obsoletes every single other melee weapon the Soldier has at the moment. |
