Cars that change into robots… is this a Transformers arcade game? No, Super Speed Transforming Gyrozetter is a new franchise from Square Enix developed by the Dragon Quest Monsters Battle Road team. Instead of licensing characters, Square Enix partnered with Toyota, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Mitsuoka, Mazda, and Nissan to add their cars to Gyrozetter.

A neat touch is Gyrozetter’s arcade cabinet transforms too. In driving mode (left) the game puts a steering wheel right in front of you. Players lift the wheel up in robot battle mode (right) to reveal levers. Each play costs 100 yen and the price includes a card Gyrozetter gives you for use with the arcade game.

Gyrozetter launches in arcades this summer, but Square Enix has big plans for this new franchise. A manga series will kick on on December 3 in Saikyo Jump. Next year, A-1 Pictures, the animation studio behind Persona: Trinity Soul and Blue Exorcist, will create a Gyrozetter anime series. Square Enix also plans to sell toys and make a Nintendo 3DS Gyrozetter in 2012 too.

Godammit, this is why we need arcades to stay alive. THIS SHIT IS FREAKIN' AWESOME! Though I am sadface that Honda isn't among the list of licensed car companies. D:

I don't think you've heard of how they plan on releasing an Ezio skin for Final Fantasy X-2 to appeal to Western audiences. Then let's not forget with how they completely overhauled Nier as well...

In any case, it's not so much that Square doesn't know anything than it is the Western market is stagnating in a cesspool of jocktard interests for grimdark, brown and bloom FPSes/TPSes and FOOTBAAAAAAAAAAALL!

Wait, Final Fantasy X-2? That game was ages ago. Or are you talking about XIII-2 or the HD port of FFX?

No see, the funnier part is how he's a skin for a female character.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

I'm a little late to this party, but what's that about the game with the most amazing soundtrack ever?

The Japanese Nier:

The Western Nier:

Also, the plot was changed so that the girl with him is his daughter in the Western version, as opposed to his girlfriend. They then released some crappy DLC for the Western that featured the Japanese Nier as a supposedly "young Nier".

Good soundtrack or not, it wasn't really a good game, on top of the ludicrous changes they made to please Western audiences who can't handle anything without some steroid inflated, sweaty bronze god with a voice that makes him sound like he's gargling with razors.

This will be divided into two posts because I have too many images and I lose my humor if I can't do it with the images.

"I'm sorry Mr. Werekitsune, but there's a contradiction in your testimony."

Posted Image

Posted Image
"What's your game, Wright? This is a very disturbing trend for Japanese game companies as of late. It's obvious that this was done to appease the worldwide market."

Posted Image
"Let us refer to this interview with Wired.com back before the game was released. If you will direct your attention to the third question, I believe you'll find the matter at hand."

Posted Image
"Yes, it clearly states that another version of the game was made."

Posted Image
"Right. But read it more closely. You'll see that it reads 'Nier was designed with a very strong adult male character as its lead character. We realized as we built the game that this is not what has been the usual RPG experience for gamers in Japan. For that reason, we decided to make changes to the game, only in Japan and only on the PlayStation 3 version.' meaning..."

"The JAPANESE, younger Nier is the edit of the ORIGINAL, older Nier!"

^^Continued From Above^^

"Im... Impossible! Still, you cannot dispute the massive differences between the games!"

Posted Image
"I'm afraid your wrong there too, Edgeworth! If you'll direct your attention to the question directly underneath where it's noted that the older Nier was the original, you'll see what I'm talking about!"

Posted Image
"Ha! Big talk, Wright, but is this just another bluff?"

Posted Image
Posted Image
"The response to the question regarding the differences are as follows: 'The two games are, for the most part, the same. The only difference between Japan's Nier Gestalt and Japan's Nier Replicant is that in Replicant, Nier is a younger boy saving his sister, instead of an adult man saving his daughter. Otherwise the story, gameplay and experience are the same (aside from small changes to the script to make the brother storyline fit).'"

Posted Image
"What?! So... then there really isn't any valid point here, is there?!"

Posted Image
"Yes and no. No, the games are not that different, but yes, a different version was made. But not to satisfy Western gamers! It was so Square Enix could ensure the game would sell equally in both regions!"

On another note, I'll have you know that I've heard Nier's English voice acting, and it's outstanding. Nier does not sound like Marcus Phoenix. I'm afraid you've failed on that front as well. There's literally no difference other than a choice in main characters. I haven't got to play Nier yet, but it's on my radar to pick up. It appears to be incredible underrated.

Orly? Well, I suppose I'll look into it more, but I wasn't really happy with what I initially saw.
