I'll say here what I said there; no one has taken PETA seriously as a legitimate organisation for years, so they need to get over themselves and rethink their public image completely.

This... just takes the fucking cake. In fact, I'd even go as far as to say this has convinced me that PETA management is run by goddamned aliens. There is not a single reasonable way that a real human being should be so out of touch with society and pop culture in general that they're able to misconstrue the purpose of a simple costume/fursuit that badly, even without knowledge of the jap mythos bullshit Polter linked in the OP - I mean, it's not like anyone watches Disney on Ice and claims "hey, this teaches kids to skin giant mice alive and wear them as a coat". What a load of shit. What's even more baffling still is that out of all the videogame examples they could have chosen that might have actually made sense from a PETA standpoint, they chose this? What, no jabs at Pokemon for enslaving animals and training them to kill each other? Nothing about killing your own horse in Red Dead Redemption just to skin it? Not even making fun of Doctor fucking Eggman for using tiny animals as power sources? And that's to say nothing of the entire Monster Hunter franchise and countless lightgun-esque big game shooters that your average redneck probably jerks off to. It simply baffles me that they had so much material to choose from that even PETA of all people could have put a decent spin on, and they chose the most nonsensical option they could think of. I honestly liked them better when they were just telling people not to fuck innocent animals up instead of trying to mock concepts they clearly have absolutely no understanding of... although if that time even existed at all it must've been a fucking long time ago, because I can't remember really.
