This is one hell of an amazing discovery. I get that it's still in it's testing phase, but if it can be tweaked enough, I'm sure that we're on the verge of actually finding a way to erradicate cancer completely. I've always said that gene therapy is the future of modern medicine, but the medical community always seems hesitant to take risks and experiment with it, though I'm guessing that might have to do with costs. Either way, this is fantastic news! |

It's kind of funny, I was reading the reactions to the treatment, and thought to myself, "Wow, that sounds alot like a cytokine storm." And then I get to the last page of the article and find out that cytokine storms are a potential risk. But yeah, this is a pretty damn incredible discovery. I'd say this trumps an AIDS cure, and hilariously enough they used deactivated HIV to do it. |

Sounds like a high risk but VERY high reward study... I mean, some people would not survive the fevers, understandably. Of course, if this is done in very controlled conditions (which it would be; it's cancer treatment), people will pull through. |

I just think that with something as risky as gene therapy, extra precautions need to be taken. Since this IS medicine and there will always be people at risk more often than not, that should really be the mentality at all times. |
