Didn't really know that, but I just find that trying to kill 6 Cacodemons with just a shotgun in the Arena doesn't really work out for me very well. Maybe I should try it again when I'm lucky enough to have some armour and a fuckton of medkits. Got any interesting postmortems? This is about the best one I could find on mine: Spoiler: click to toggle Kind of odd that all my best playthroughs seem to be Marksmanship runs. I should probably use dual pistols more often, but I love my shotguns too damn much. Edited by Blacklightning, Sep 3 2011, 01:37 PM.

Here's my farthest playthrough: Spoiler: click to toggle Two things helped me survive the arena level. The first is that the shotgun is an awesome weapon because you can easily hit enemies outside of your Line of Sight with it. Duck around a corner, take a couple potshots to see if there are any enemies waiting, run for the next available cover. Walking down a hallway that might have enemies? Take a shot here and there to see if you hit something. The other thing is realizing that enemies have a good chance of targeting the last place you stood, which means that you can force them to waste turns shooting at air. Cacodemons especially have some awful aiming AI that prevents them from shooting at you if you're standing on a corner diagonal to them, which means they just slowly approach while you chew them apart with a chaingun. Hero Core Download Here ![]() The sinister biomechanical warlord Cruiser Tetron has returned from the depths of space, prepared to conquer the universe with his factory planetoid. You, Flip Hero, Cruiser Tetron's greatest creation, must once again take down your evil master once and for all. This isn't just a game for the hard core. This is Hero Core. Hero Core is a Metroid-influenced game, focusing on simplicity in graphics, sound, and gameplay to offer the best experience you can have. Your goal is simple: Reach the inner sanctum of the planetoid and battle Cruiser Tetron to win the game. However, you may need to accomplish a few tasks to aid you, such as finding all of the computers within the planetoid to access their codes, or defeating bosses one hundred times your size to gain extra health and firepower. ![]() The controls are fairly simple, with the ability to shoot in two directions, move in eight directions, and an autofire button for when you don't want to mash the shoot buttons. You'll have to solve light puzzles and backtrack to traverse the planetoid's depths, with a mostly non-linear path for you to take. As you play the game further, you'll find secret areas that can tell you how to use special abilities, with some of them able to help you more easily sequence break. In fact, sequence breaking is such a big part of the game that there are secrets you can only find if you haven't fought any of the bosses. For 100% completion, you will have to find every secret on the game's two completely distinct maps (Which are both labeled by the difficulty of 'Normal' or 'Hard'. The Hard map is significantly more difficult in enemy placement, boss AI, and the far less simplistic layout of the planetoid, but turns out to be a unique experience when compared to the Normal map.) Getting 100% doesn't unlock anything in the game; just winning can give you secrets such as "Retro" language and Boss Rush. Technically, you can unlock everything in the game in a span of a few minutes if you know the correct sequence to reach Cruiser Tetron without ever fighting a boss. ![]() Fully clearing out all of Hero Core's secrets can take hours of searching and experimentation, with such difficult tasks as surmounting the Boss Rush and the nigh-impossible reallyjoel'sdad mode. With perseverance, however, this game ends up being a nice retro experience, with all the thrill of exploration that old computer games used to come with. A word of warning: The Annihilation difficulty level is by far one of the more difficult tasks in the game, playing nothing like Normal or Hard mode whatsoever. Knowledge of the backstory of the game Iji may increase your enjoyment of playing through this mode. Protips: - Autofire is your friend, but don't abuse it. You can only keep a limited number of shots on screen at a time, which can make missing with autofire a fatal experience. - There is a hidden Metroid reference hidden in the game, but it might take you a few hours to find it. - Your sword attack is three times more powerful than your gun, and it deflects bullets that may otherwise hit you. Knowing when to use it is crucial to cut the difficulty of certain fights. - Finding Zero will force you to sequence break to the max. Defeating him on Hard should let you know just how good your skills are. - If you can't win against a boss or make it through a difficult room, try again later. You might pick up some health and firepower upgrades that can turn the tides. - You can only heal at save stations, so save often. |

I'd just like to point out how amazingly well thought out Hero Core is. It doesn't look like much at all, but there's just so much content in the game, it's not even funny. Plus it's chock full of strategy and some REALLY tough AI. Any fan of Metroid styled games should REALLY give this a go, I can't stress this enough. You will not be disappointed. |

Have you ever played the original Smash Bro's game? You know, the classic, yet overlooked gem on the gameboy? You probably haven't, what with the game being released so late in the gameboy's life. However, with this pc optimized port, you now can experience it for yourself! What'cha waiting for? Go get your Gameboy on! Spoiler: click to toggle

Anyone know how to unlock everything? I just got Spoiler: click to toggle for beating arcade mode. Should I just try beating it with everyone? Same reason everything on the SNES had the word "Super", or on the GBA had "Advance", or on the N64 had "64" in the title. Because Nintendo lacks originality when it comes to naming conventions. :P |

Tower of Heaven Play it here ![]() Climbing up the stairway in search of revelation, a lone traveler defies a spiteful god residing at the top of the world. Unamused, the indignant deity lays down increasingly difficult laws designed to kill his unwelcome visitor as he ascends toward the moonlit skies. Can you make it to the very top and discover the secrets of this divine structure? May heaven grant you fortune. Tower of Heaven is a puzzle platformer that sees you, the traveller, attempting to climb to the top of a forbidden tower by navigating deadly traps and following "laws" placed upon you to the exit of each room. The rooms are timed and you are expected to reach the exit before the timer runs out, which in all honesty, isn't a difficult task. ![]() The controls are as simple as the overall game; you can use the directional keys to walk around, jump and enter doors, or the other alternatives in their place (such as WASD). For every few floors, the God passes down another law you must obey, which hinders what you can do in a room, such as not being able to walk left, or touch any living thing. Laws are accumulative and laws that are passed down are only added to the ones already in effect. ![]() By the end of the game, you have to contend with around 5 laws. The game is very short, around maybe 12 levels long, but there are three secrets as well as some Newgrounds cheevos to unlock if you're into that sort of thing. Aside from this, the game grants you a "Speed Run" mode and level creator upon completion. The meat of the community comes from user created levels, much like other cool titles available on Newgrounds. ![]() Tower of Heaven is a very fun and simple game, a good time spender if you've got nothing better to do. It's aesthetically designed to look like a Gameboy title, which is very inherent in the greenscale pallet. This was made by the creators of Super Smash Land, which was where I'd learned of the game in the first place. Check out some of the user created levels, there's a lot of creativity in the way of trap designs and whatnot. |

HEY GUYS, WHO WANTS TO KNOW HOW TO UNLOCK EVERYTHING IN SUPER SMASH LAND? Spoiler: click to toggle For the second character, it hasn't worked for some people (like myself) on Arcade, so try Versus. Also, a Kirbycide is basically inhaling an enemy and comitting suicide while they're still in your mouth. It takes perfect timing to get it down. |
