I don't think anything more needs to be said.

Yeah, something does; don't we have enough DBZ games? Especially Tenkaichi ones? This video doesn't really offer anything significantly relevant that past games haven't done aside from a different graphical style. Guess they got tired of cell shading.

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this. Looks like slightly updated graphics on the old engine, though I could be wrong. But since I enjoyed the games I'd at least give it a try. I'd like to see what characters will potentially be available, since I'm sure the game will cover more than the Saiyan Saga.

It's like street fighter in how mant times they make these games, but they change the gameplay a little each time, whereas in Street Fighter it plays the same each time.
The last one didn't have cell-shading either, which was a bit disappointing.

Though, looking at these combo animations, they are the exact same ones in DBZ RB and RB2... the only thing really different is the giant ape, everything else looks just like RB2.
But hey, it has a "Create your own Character" thing!

Unfortunately, it looks like some simple actions are replaced by QTE, which is a bit disappointing.

But it sort of looks much different from the other games if you see this vid, it's more cinematic now.

I've been excited for this once for awhile, though I would have preferred that awesome online arcade co-op one to this.

You're kidding right? There are huge differences in gameplay mechanics between each Street Fighter title (proper entries, not re-releases). You can't tell me Street Fighter III Third Strike plays anything like Super Street Fighter II Turbo, or like Street Fighter Alpha 3. The other difference is that with every new SF game, we're also getting more storyline and characters. DBZ just regurgitates the plot of a show that's been around for over 30 years and throws in a few extra useless characters with every new incarnation. It may, also, remove characters and may throw in a handful of "what-if" missions. All in all, the experience isn't as satisfying when you know exactly what you're getting with each new game. =/

True, though I've never played SF 3.
But the majority of the time it still pretty much stays them same, the dbz ones have tried the 3d on a 2d plane perspective.... and something entirely new and awesome on it's own. Yeah the dragonball story is always the same, which gets really annoying. Honestly I would hope they make an entire "What if" game and have Goku never bump his head as a child, becoming pretty much the strongest badass out there, and you have to take him down with a new earth character. But story isn't what's important in the game, it's kicking eachother's asses online.. just like Brawl.

Personally I never really found the Street Fighter stories all that engaging, or interesting, or hardly even there. I think the dbz games offer a lot more new features in comparison to SF's each new game. When they take out a few characters, they usually add a lot more of something else to it. RB1 didn't have many characters, but I think in a lot of ways it's better than RB2, which has 5x the amount of characters. It's not always about how many characters there are.

What-if missions were actually my favorite parts.

Tempting, but it looks as though the customization is largely cosmetic - if my eyes don't decieve me, the movesets are presets based on the original characters, and while it's too soon to say for sure it looks like the same goes for Signatures/Supermoves. It certaintly took them long enough to try, though.

Still not sure if I'm willing to stomach a blatant QTE fest for a custom DBZ character, but we'll see how things play out.

Character creation is kind of pointless if your only real move selections are "Choose X's style" and "Pick any super move".

But Polter! Think of how many self-insert fanfic writers it will appease!

Well yeah, it's not like they'll create all separate moves from all the other characters.
But I wouldn't be surprised if they threw in a bunch of new ones too. Hopefully it'll have some sort of DLC... because the last 2 never got any, despite its ability to.

That's not exactly what I was getting at. Well I mean sure, a few brand new movesets certaintly wouldn't go amiss, but I was moreso referring to the impression that you can't tinker with moves on an individual level - instead of, say, mixing some of Yamcha's moves with some of Tien's, we only get purely one or the other, and by that stage we might as well be playing the actual Yamcha or Tien instead. Being able to fuck around with movesets on the same level as Sonic Battle or MK: Armageddon would've made the customization here a lot more appealing.

But beggars can't be choosers I guess. It's not like I was expecting particularly much from this game to start with.

That would've been nice, not too many games really let you do it though. Hell, I think there was a game (maybe it was one of the MK games) that sort of let you animate some of the movesets/combos themselves for custom characters. Now that would be something.

"All right so let’s recap: You can create your own DBZ character, take them through the open world in Hero mode and fight other warriors, you can train up with a master, you can unlock new skills and customize your character’s abilities and then you can level then up and fight online against or with friends…awesome much? Yeah, I think so.

If there was one thing that could revitalize a surge of anticipation in a new DBZ title, then this mode would be it. Hero mode basically makes Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi a highly prized fighting game and even more so than Street Fighter X Tekken. "

Well we have some new info according to two sources I've found (I'll only put one in this message and if you want the other just ask) 1. "You train your character/avatar untill they are ready for the ultimate super saiyan transformation" - Does this mean you only get to use their super saiyan form in the final battle or something ? Does it also mean there's you'll only be able to achieve the first super saiyan form ? 2. "learning super attacks and skills as they are taught by their master of choice"- It seems you have a master of your choice that i guess trains you which enhances the personal experience of the game . Who would you choose as a master ? ( I know I might get made fun of but I'd choose Gt Goten lol :D ) Source : http://www.gamedynamo.com/article/showarticle/1821/en/DBZ_Ultimate_Tenkaichi_Hero_Mode_trailer_and_final_box_art

So basically, your skills depend on which master you want to train under.

I just hope they take out certain elements from the last games out. Fucking wild sense and most rush attacks are seen as the holy land for spammers. And then there's the combo-fags, who'll hit you with a combo that'll last the whole match, sort of even when you have 5 characters lined up. And to make matters worse, once you're on the ground and while you're still trying to get back up, you can still be attacked, meaning there's hardly room for you to defend.
