Still can't take it in the tub, the usb will get wet. $250 is asking for a bit much. I think this would probably fit better in the general or awesome section though. Edited by Havoc the Tenrec, Aug 19 2011, 03:15 AM.

Well, it's tech news, so I think it's fine in here. I'll never be able to adjust to touchscreen devices, especially not as a way of replacing physical buttons. There's just something satisfying about hammering away at keys on a keyboard is all (hell, I can't even stand laptop or Mac keyboards because they're so "delicate" for lack of better word). It does look pretty damn sexy though. |

Ahaha I can't get used to desktop keyboards anymore, after half my life of using laptops (x But yes, I agree with touchscreens. I always have to get phones with keypads because I can't type as fast on touch. Must have haptic feedback U: It is so beautiful though C: |

I'm used to using my phone's touch screen, the vibration of hitting each key kind of gives you the same sensation. |

It's still not nearly enough feedback to adequetely replace a keyboard, though. It's still too easy to hit other keys by complete accident because you can't actually feel individual buttons, and as such, it's really difficult to both touch type and be able to adequetly guage distance between buttons without having to stare at the buttons all the time. To be fair, for an iPhone or touch-based smartphone that's not too much of a problem because the keyboard and screen are one in the same, but considering this is a gadget that expects to function seperately from a computer monitor I can't really see this taking off, especially with that ridiculous price tag. I'm pretty sure it's cheaper just to get a backlit keyboard if you expect to type in the dark, and frankly if you're using a computer in any kind of situation that would warrant a waterproof keyboard in the first place you're kind of a fucking idiot to begin with.Flat? Those Mac keyboards can go fuck themselves for all I care, but I've been typing on an Alienware M15x for a while and I find it's just as good as your ordinary desktop keyboard in that respect. Hell, if not better. Maybe all your laptop keyboards just suck. :V |

I think it's pretty sweet, if it weren't for the cost I would consider getting something like that. |

"An inventor creates an electronic keyboard that uses backlighting to display the characters on the keyboard's surface and utilizes force feedback to determine user input. This highly technically engineered model can be yours for as low as $250." What the fuck. What the fuck happened to technology? The moment we figured out how to make a smartphone, technology just slowed to a crawl? THIS is an advancement? Okay, the two other technologies on the website have realistic applications for future technology, that being a "Power loading robotic mechanism" for lifting things far beyond a human's capabilities, and miniature ball bearings because the world doesn't have enough ball bearings of adequate size, I guess. But what the fuck is the point of this keyboard? I can go to the store and get a keyboard for ten dollars. For that same price, I could piece together a keyboard and call it a day. BUT IT'S SHINY AND WATERPROOF, AND YOU CAN'T ACTUALLY FEEL THE BUTTONS, AND YOU PROBABLY CAN'T SEE THE BUTTONS EITHER DEPENDING ON THE LIGHTING. Fuck humanity. |

Lolol raging zephyr has so much rage. Technology can also be used to create Beautiful things, which may in time lead to Useful things-- or useful things branching off into beautiful things. Not that it always makes sense to me. I mean, look at people and their fancy cars. I like my Honda civic, but OH LOOK THERE GOES A LIMO /o/ |

There, I think that might actually be another issue this thing will face. Most touch peripherals are directly tied to the monitor in one way or another, but actually having something sepparate like a keyboard might be pretty disorienting as well. |

In short, lack of tactile feedback, while acceptable for some devices, is a huge fault for a keyboard. Remember, 'proper' typing involves laying your hands in a specific arrangement, with certain keys being used by certain fingers. Even being able to feel the distinction between individual keys, they still had to add little notches on the F and J keys so your hands don't get lost. This, though..... holy fucking shit I want it |

Or I could buy a state-of-the-art PC with all of that cash, plus get a keyboard with it. You guys are constantly making my hate for humanity even worse. |

Lolol do you live in a homely little cliff-side cave and walk to the forest every morning to hunt for your meals with your bare hands? Nope, you probably drive to the grocery store in a car then park it in your garage. You are also a member of a quality-of-life-seeking human race (: |

That keyboard is basically a Swiss Army Knife. I have a SAK that I don't even bother using, and I wouldn't have it if it cost more than all of the implements that are put into it if they were separate. I can buy a computer with USB ports and an SD Card slot for the same price, have it run Crysis 2 with no lag, and have enough memory that there's no way I could possibly fill it with the utilities I use. Plus I can get a keyboard with extra USB slots for cheap. Even better, I can get an SD Card USB Extension for cheap as well. On top of this, my computer can have a CD Drive that reads Blu-ray, which the 16 grand keyboard obviously lacks. |

Yeah I agree it's stupid, but you can't deny it would be nice to have (if a decent computer is a given) And out of curiosity, doesn't Crysis 2 actually have lower requirements than Crysis 1? I thought I remembered an interview where they bragged about how drastically they've optimized their code. |
