As Viper reached for the key clad in black metallic stone began to shake slightly, as if reacting to his arm's presence. The crimson swirling energy source within the stone began to shake just the same before surging throughout the structure of it's crystalline holder. The black and now red stone cemented itself deeper into the Earth, moving a full one foot downward from where Viper had been reaching before. The key began to grow and spike off into a dark red and black shard of crystal that now stood seven feet taller than Viper, jutting out from the wound in the ground it had caused. As if speaking from within the key itself, a voice vocally called out to Viper and whoever could hear it. "This is but the first...there are still more to come..." The voice echoed throughout the crater. The creature named Arragadon launched itself forward towards the holy blast of light that Nightmare had shot towards him and his master and as his mass connected with the mass of light, his shadowy form exploded into a million blobs of dark matter, landing all over the place. Just as quick as it had took for the blast to blow pieces of the shadow all around the store, Monte, and Nightmare, the pieces had begun to form back again right in front of Nightmare, but instead of one Arragadon, there were two and they were armed with blades made of black matter. The creatures started to swing their blades in unison to decapitate Nightmare where he stood. Monte had taken this time to slither back behind an aisle encasement, with his own twin daggers bared in case Nightmare had tried anything to get past Arragadon. |

The creature exploded into a sticky mess of ichor, then reformed into two identical copies before they came charging for Nigthmare. He pulled up Raum, now in the form of a broadsword again and blocked the attacks, parrying the two off of him as he moved to the side and out of the aisle he was currently standing in to gain more room. The other creature had slunk away into the shadows and was nowhere to be seen, which was fine with him, considering these were enough to contend with. A demonic creature with resistance to holy light? What madness is this? It was true then, that these "demons" were possibly governed by different rules and that meant that Nightmare needed to adapt his tactics to whatever was necessary to beat them. He began forming a ball of dark matter within his right hand, gathering it up to around the size of a soccer ball before slamming it straight for the nearest Arragadon's head, while slashing at the other's right shoulder. |

Frankly, Ethan hadn't made much notice of the darkness that enveloped the shopping center. After all, he could see in more planes of existence than just the mortal one, and the presence of souls and spirits shed off their own particular ambiance by which to guide by. It was a curious trait that most immortal beings shared, though in Ethan's case a lack of lightning was still debilitating in a fashion: Where some beings could guide themselves off of the natural flow of the currents of the spiritual planes, Ethan did not share that same modicum of skill that certain demons and reapers had developed with practice. As it was, he could trace the turbulent trail that the Nightmare left behind in his wake, so Ethan, at the very least, had a line he could tether himself to. Following the spined demon, Ethan kept a lookout for any other figures looming in the darkness, absorbing the essences of each one that the Nightmare felled along the way. But, something took the poor reaper's mind by shock as he rounded the corner, past the dim, but warm, televisions and the locked cases of cameras. Something corrupt, leaking its presence into its surroundings, its body energized with the souls of the dead. The being itself towered over Ethan...no, two beings! It was all Ethan could do to resist the urge to flee in terror; the reaper's code forbade cowardice in such a vital scenario. The only other thing that grounded Ethan where he stood was something so magnificent that his own mind couldn't come up with an explanation for it. Where there had existed a black vortex in the Nightmare's being, a pure, burning light, as pale as the winter morning's frost, eked its way out of the whirlpool's core. A cloud of this brilliant, formless light orbited around itself in the Nightmare's hand before he sent the it all in concentrated masses towards the two malevolent figures that stood before them. Where one of the figures had once stood, its essence now pervaded the whole of the area around Ethan. Had his mind decided between fight and flight, Ethan may have reacted accordingly and made an attempt to absorb as much of the vile essence he could, but part of him had relied on the Nightmare up to this point without any worries, so to imagine that the demon couldn't absorb this energy just like he couldn't absorb that of the lesser creatures from before had slipped the young reaper's mind. Of course, he also wasn't expecting the essence to reform itself back into a demon...no, two demons, split apart like a hydra! Suddenly, one of the beings, the unique one of the three, scurried away in retreat, leaving the Nightmare to fend off the twin demons while Ethan stood in awe. Shaking away the fear that rattled his mind, the reaper charged to the Nightmare's side, partisan in hand. Where his demonic compatriot hacked away at the beast's right flank, Ethan came from the left, twirling his partisan at unseen speeds preemptively to set up a spiritual barrier between himself and the creature, one that could be used as a mobile shield to protect the Nightmare from retaliation. "It split apart!" Ethan shouted. "If you're a demon, you should be able to hurt these guys and eat them, right? If you can't, then I have to reap them with your help." |

It took nearly five minutes of running as fast as her body would allow before Miranda finally felt secure enough to stop, breathing heavily as she leaned against the wrought-iron fence that marked the boundary between sidewalk and somebody's yard. It had been a good while before she actually had to run like that, and so she allowed herself to slide down the metal rails, coming to rest on her knees as she used the fence for support. Small beads of sweat began rolling down her face as the air cooled her, and after a moment she pushed off the ground and back onto her feet. Whatever presence she'd been feeling had made it to where she previously was, but at least at the time it seemed as though she put enough room between herself and...whatever it was. What caught her attention now was whatever was going on near the center of town. She could hear the sound of police sirens blaring from a few blocks away, along with a multitude of weaker wills of malicious intent in the same direction. Not waiting to see what would problem, she made her way down the block she was on, crossing over to the other and walking until she reached the end of street and made a left-hand turn. She was moving toward the source of the minor dark wills, but it would be easy enough to skirt them as long as she paid attention. It seemed as though whatever was approaching her before was trying to close the distance again, though whatever it was didn't seem to be in much of a hurry. With any luck, she would be able to get by all of this again and find another, safer gas station to stop into. Maybe even catch a ride from someone and get back to her car to leave. "What the hell was that back there?" she questioned before she froze in place; despite the ominous and dizzying visual effects not coming this time, a voice called out again from somewhere near where she detected the less ominous of the wicked beings that seemed to be favoring this town. "This is but the first...there are still more to come..." "And just what the fuck is that voice that keeps calling out?" Miranda wondered aloud, picking up her pace a bit as she continued down the street, putting house after house between her and the presence that was trying to approach her. |

The Arragadon clone took the blast from Nightmare, letting the dark matter topple it's head off at full power and at deadly range. Chunks of shadowy matter mixed with carnage from the damned itself splattered all over the DVD cases lining the electronic aisle where the demon, reaper, and demons were fighting. As the slice connected with the other Arragadon's shoulder, the blade seemingly split the demon in two. The shadow fell in two pieces to the floor, with gore and purple blood covering the tile-covered ground. Just as seemingly as the one called Nightmare had cut down Arragadon to size, the two pieces grew complete once again, becoming more entities and even splitting off from themselves to create four total copies along with assimilating the gore left from the other Arragadon's corpse before attacking at Nightmare again, blades made of their dark flesh circled the air, trying to puncture whatever shield the Reaper had in place, while strafing around to all sides of the duo. Monte hadn't stood still during the whole confrontation, but instead, was channeling his energy into his body, growing stronger by the second. The humans had managed to make it close enough that they could have seen everything, but were still a good distance for him to strike. Monte was puzzled though, but he could feel something strange coming from one of the humans. It was as if the key had unlocked something...dormant. Not strong, but given the right cultivation, could end up being his downfall. He needed to kill that human. Now. Ryoa, Julian, Barry, and Scott had made their way past the decorations and office supplies aisles before halting near the furniture, keeping cover on their end. They all saw the demonic entities fighting and the quick movement of something in the far right of the aisle move past at an alarming speed. It wasn't everyday you had a police officer taking the fight to the forces of evil. literally. Barry made a pot shot towards the movement, and missed as the bullet soared through the air and struck a plasma T.V., shattering the glass and plastic encasing. "This is a crock of SHIT!" Barry said under his breath before letting the last word increase in volume, making sure to get all the attention he could. The sweat was pooling off of his African-American skin, soaking the blue uniform shirt he currently wore. Julian scoffed, and the boys remained quiet. They could hear slick movement coming from over the aisles, as if something was moving on TOP of the aisle dividers themselves. Ryoa was the first to aim his pistol up at the slithering demon before the group opened fire, as Monte revealed himself with fangs blaring. Four guns went off, and Monte charged, tackling Ryoa and sending him forward from the aisle and into one of the DVD cases, toppling the display piece with a loud metallic THUD. The young man cried in pain before holding the pistol up and firing a pair of bullets into Monte's torso. The demon didn't cry out in return, but brought up one hooked dagger and brought it down with incredible speed, only catching the side of Ryoa before the boy rolled over to his right. Damn...that hurt! Ryoa thought to himself, before watching Monte getting peppered with bullets from his posse. Julian and Barry had managed to catch the demon in the neck while Scott had focused on getting over to Ryoa, shooting the demon in the chest. The bullets landed true and blood splattered from the entry wounds, but the demon's body worked quickly to push the foreign material out from Monte and heal the wounds with no scar damage to be seen. Scott slid into the space by where Ryoa had been lying and holster his firearm, while drawing out his twin daggers from his boot sheaths. In one fluid motion he slid across the floor, landing in front of Ryoa to protect him, drew his blades, and swiped at Monte's body, leaving shallow lines as the snake-demon hissed in agony and retreated behind another DVD aisle to swing back around for more. Scott's blades were glowing a light blue hint, signaling to Ryoa that the crystals infused within the hilt were working their magic, especially against demonic forces. The blades were more effective to demon flesh that it would have been against human skin, and once it tasted the demon's pain, the crystal's would cover the entire blade and attack with a sharp edge of mana in addition to the cutting part of the blade itself. "You ok there pal?" Scott asked his brother. "Yeah man, just a scratch." Ryoa looked down at the wound, his side was slightly bloody, but not enough to be alarming. The young man kicked himself up from the DVD rack and retreated his own weapon to it's holster. He held out a hand to Scott, who tossed him one of the daggers, before looking back up for the demon to return. Ryoa was pumped, and unlike normal, could feel a sort of blood lust rising in him. He wanted the kill the demon and maim his body. He wanted to hear the demon wale in pain, and his senses were honing in on finding the bastard. His aura pulsed with heat, and Ryoa could tell something was happening to his side, but he wasn't sure what and now wasn't the time to find out. The new Philip Letrone was hot on the trail of the girl. He could feel her spiritual energy, and he had to find her. If not only for the taste of her blood, then for what he could do with her energy. He would kill her, take her form and her power, and find others who shared her power to increase his own. He pondered these things as he walked along the road, until a girl in a red pick-up truck passed by him, looked at him through the rear view mirror, hit her brakes, and backed up to his position. With as much southern charm she could throw into her 18-year-old voice, she beckoned to him. "You need a ride honnnneeeyyy?" Philip nodded to the red-head and scurried over to the passenger side door, opened it, and crawled in. "Thank you miss, I'll go wherever you are headed." "Then let's head to the city, I heard there was a lot going on, and I could surely use a pick up, now that I've got a cute little date like you babe!" Philip smiled a little, as they took off towards Mineral Bluff, the demon chuckled underneath his smile and planned his next move. |

(I was holding out for other people to do shit considering my posts are nothing more than fight posts, but I suppose I can help get things moving along a little bit.) "Eat them...what?!" A little surprised by what the young reaper had suggested, Nightmare was still filled with relief when one of the creatures he had attacked had exploded into a shower of ichor, believing he had finally found a way to defeat them. Before he could turn his attention to the other one, who had seen fit to split itself into two, the one he had previously obliterated had managed to reform itself into another two individual demons, bringing the total to four. Never had Nightmare felt he was so overwhelmed by what seemed like infinite odds as everything he had ever faced could be killed. This creature here though, seemed impervious to everything in his repertior and if he could not defeat it, then that only brought dread for other possible apparitions that could hamper his progress like this. "I...I do not know what to do!" The creatures launched themselves at the pair, trying to attack through the shield Ethan had errected. Nightmare was not sure of the extent of it's resilience, but he had hoped it was enough to keep these multiplying creatures at bay. |

Viper had watched the entire show unfold before him, and heard the voice. This was the first, and there was many more to come. He had no idea what he just triggered, but he knew that he needed to find out just what was going on here. There were more demons coming, and it seemed that the Apocalypse was going to look like a fairy tale in comparison. The feeling in Viper's arm faded as the crystal stopped growing. Whatever life force this thing had, it was dead now. Still, just what life had his arm reacted to? Demonic life? Or was it something else? Viper walked away, towards his motorcycle. It was time to look around to see what he could find out about these keys and whatever hordes they kept. The demons outside were now dead, although he sensed that there was a larger demonic life force inside. His absorption of demon blood had given him a general sense of where demons now lurked, yet it was nothing specific. This would work to his advantage. If these keys were linked to the demons, then he could track them down. At each one, he would find answers to this chaos... ...and maybe, its ringleader. |

I can't keep running like this. Miranda thought to herself as she entered the town proper, crossing the street and entering the diner. There weren't many people there, but the few that were enjoying a meal would hopefully deter whatever that thing was that decided to follow her. She couldn't feel it's presence moving in her direction, but it was moving all the same. She slumped into one of the booths, bringing her hands up to rub her temples. All the running she'd done to put room between her and the entity had given her a headache, especially with an empty stomach, but it was something she had to do to feel safe. When the waitress approached, she ordered a Sprite to drink, deciding not to order until she had a chance to look at the menu. Once she got her drink, the waitress left to attend to other customers, allowing her a moment to think. I have no idea what that thing was that went toward the store after I took off. Whatever it was, it gave off a mean aura. Almost as bad as that thing pushing words into my mind earlier... Her gaze drifted toward the window, her eyes taking in the town that awaited just beyond the pane of glass. Her hand still ached from the broken Coke bottle. If that thing comes after me again, I don't know if I can fight it off. It seems like the best bet would be to find way to get back to my car and fill it up, and then just get the hell out of here. But the Mustang is about fifteen minutes away running as fast as I can. And knowing my luck, I'd just get cornered on my way there... Her thought trailed off as the waitress returned, hoping the girl was ready to order. "Umm..yeah, I'd like to have the pork chops with fried potatoes." The waitress nodded in response, taking her menu and walking away, allowing Miranda to shift gears and return to her thoughts. Well, I suppose if there's a chance I'll be forced into a situation I can't run from, I'll need my strength. For now I'll hurry and eat, that way I'll be ready to go if things look bad again. I'll just have to keep a close eye on how things are moving, and make sure I avoid whatever that thing was if I can... With a light sigh, the girl took a drink from her glass, the citrus flavor almost welcome after her panicked running just moments ago. Well, at least the food should be pretty good..I hope. ((Wasn't sure what to do lol.)) |

With the effort of twirling a baton, Ethan spun his lance with both hands. Bands of spiritual essence trailed off the ends of the partisan, forming a firmament between the demons and Ethan in its wake. Blades bounced off the barrier from all sides, soul matter dissipating into the world with each blow. He couldn't just stand there and defend himself forever, not without his reserves being drained. "Demon 101," Ethan spouted out at the Nightmare, batting away another attack, "When a demon is summoned, it needs to use a soul to manifest itself. Demons take more souls to get more power, thus a demon is pretty much a collection of sentient souls. Thus, other demons can absorb them..." In one swift arc, Ethan traced the blade of his partisan through the middle of the one of the beasts. Instead of simply tearing through the guts of the monster, its belly dissolved into mist around the spearhead. Over the next few seconds, the creature's body began to reform, but not before some of the mist was gobbled up by the partisan. "...and I can reap them." It dawned upon Ethan that he spoke too soon. He grimaced as a black blade twisted in his back, his own essence fading into the air. A wave of nausea threatened to cripple him, quite the feat considering the lack of actual organs, but he rode through it as he created another twirling barrier with his spear. "Unfortunately, we work by the same rules," Ethan spoke, pivoting to position his shield between enemies and ally. "I've got enough problems with one of these guys, I don't think we stand a chance fighting them here. Any ideas?" |

"Your demons, perhaps. The ones I am acquainted with are independant, living beings not much different from the humans on this plane. To paraphrase the old expression "If it bleeds, it can be killed"." Nightmare switched to more defensive tactics, slamming his fist into the ground and extending the spikes from his forearm into it. This resulted in a cage of large spike surrounding them and pushing back the aggressors bearing down on them, giving them more room to breathe. "This enclosed environment favours their tactics and abilities, yet we can not take this fight outside for several reasons. We risk exposing ourselves to a non-understanding and potentially hostile public as well as giving these creatures the opportunity to endanger the lives of innocents. If anything, the fact that they have remained here for this long is a somewhat comforting thought, as it implies that their goal...whatever it is, is within this building." Raum twisted and changed shape into a rather large shield, a form Nightmare seldom used due to his high durability and the ability to harden his hide. The shield's use, however, was more to push back and bash incoming demons if they managed to penetrate the spiked cage, as using a blunt object guaranteed that the creatures would not be cut and, as a result, should not be able to replicate. "What we need is a way to determine their weakness; our weapons are useless and they are resilient against both light and dark energies. Perhaps a different element is required..." It occured to Nightmare that, while he could not generate other elements, there were many ways he could go about using them against the enemy. They were already confined to the electronics section, which gave them plenty of options, save for one issue. "We need to return power to the building, or at the very least, this part of the store. It will give us more windows of opportunities. If you can rectify the situation, I will hold them off until you do." |

One day, a long time ago, a boy, who lived alone, was a savant as far as machines went. At one point, perhaps before he can even remember, there were other people in his life, and other hobbies he may have had. But that was as far as Ethan could possibly remember in what flash of reminiscence there was between the time when the blow struck down on his shield of spirit matter and when the next attack came sailing down. "Four on one, are you mad?" Ethan cried out. "I don't even know anything about this place! I don't know if there's a switch or a breaker I need to hit, or where, or if it'll even work here!" He twisted his head for a brief moment. From the corner of his eye, he saw another group of souls approaching; they were living, judging by the vividity of their colors and the composure of their form. "Someone's coming from the right! I think we should cut and run!" Ethan was running out of options. He didn't know how long the Nightmare could last on his own, but what he did know was that his own reserves were running low. As he found himself suddenly pulled and twisted to one side, without any more than a natural instinct to try and save himself from a terrible situation, Ethan leveled his partisan into the belly of one of the demons and let loose a scream. In a flash of light, the creature's midsection exploded. As it is for every action, the equal reaction launched the boy through the air in the opposite direction, flying across a whole aisle into a display of crock pots and microwaves. Gingerly, he stood up, using his spear as leverage. He was aching all over, but he had the wits to dash back over to electronics, drawing a wide curve around the combat scene he propelled himself out of. He needed to find a storeroom; did they keep circuit breakers in storerooms? The pain was starting to catch up with him, as well. It was never a good thing when a dead thing hurt. He ducked down to catch his nonexistent breath and recover his thoughts. |

Barry breathed as much air in as his lungs would allow before deciding to do one thing and one thing only: getting the hell away from this demonic force and turning the lights on. It never helped that a fighter, let alone his next to kin, was fighting in the dark against evil beings who were pitch black in their own bodily color. Scott had managed to make it to Ryoa and their bullets had managed to send the demon fleeing if even for a moment, so Barry decided to be more useful than stand there with his finger up his ass, well, not literally. In the five years before he joined the force, Barry had worked in this very Wal-Mart as a stocker, and in a town like Mineral Bluff, which ran off the natural water-producing hydroelectric power plant stationed near the Tri-State area by the TVA, power outages and electric problems ran rampant without having multiple hubs to keep the power up. Barry had thought he remembered where the switch box was in this horribly designed clustered of department spaces. In a mad dash, his feet carried his whole two-hundred-and-fifty pound frame across the waxed tile floor like a bullet as he managed to make it from where they were hiding in the electronic section to the automotive hub where the mechanics worked on people's cars. Even here, there should be some sort of maintenance closet containing some kind of surge box or breaker system, even in this po-dunk store. Scott couldn't exactly tell where Monte had slithered off to, but Ryoa was up and holding the twin dagger that Scott was holding himself and the blue aura was bouncing off of their features and helped light up their faces slightly. Even with Ryoa to have a slight wound like he did, his face was bearing his teeth and it seemed like the calm and collected Georgia-boy was nowhere to be seen. Ryoa's face was seemingly contorting in ways that seemed unnatural, almost as if there was an extreme source of heat raising right in front on him and the air was being heated in front of his face. It didn't make sense for that to be the case, as they weren't in front of any heat source, and the mana didn't give off heat. So what exactly was the deal? Before he could deduce anything else, Monte sprang forward from the DVD case from their right and hissed through the air as he bared his fangs, trying to take Ryoa out with one mighty swift clamp of his powerful jaws that were aimed right for the boys head. Except... Ryoa had somehow saw it coming, even before Scott, and managed to sidestep just in the nick of time. Surpised, the snake was slightly more ticked than shocked and wanted more. Monte swung back around and tried the tactic once more, only to have the boy instead catch the demon's other side and split it open, pouring the dark black blood the demon held within its veins all over the floor, before Monte landed with a slight "thud" as he crashed into a DVD case. Now Ryoa's face was smiling? Why was his brother smiling, especially in the heat of a fight? The demon let out a hissing yelp, and clutched its own side in pain. The regeneration that it seemed to have was not kicking in instantly like before, mostly a cue to the blue-mana blade. Monte's cry seemed to alarm one of the Arragadons and it charged toward the pair, with self-blades drawn and ready to strike flesh. Julian was able to catch all of the action as it occurred. Ryoa wasn't himself, and it must have been this demon's doing. And now, he would probably catch hell for it... That was, until, the thing called in for backup with his cries of pain, and Julian felt it would be an appropriate time to step in. The Arragadon clone made its way to the boys, running with the swift speed only supernatural powers granted, and Julian didn't have any chance to stop the creature before it would get to the brothers, so he decided to do the next best thing: use his mana to boost himself and make sure he got there first. He brought forth all the mystical inner energy he could, his body glistening with a white aura that was only covering him for a mere second before he boosted off towards his children. Although his intentions were well, they seemed to be in vain. In his moment of temporary increased speed, he could also interpret the world at a higher speed and what he was interpreting was unlike anything he had seen before. Ryoa had seemingly been able to move just a tad faster than Julian and was already in the motions to what seemed like open both of his hands and fire off a beam from each hand of hot aura straight at the demons of either side of him. Sure, Ryoa was a Magi and able to manipulate his mana into ability-enhancing aura, but this type of aura surrounding him was almost like hellfire itself, and instead of his normal cool blue aura was the crimson red that had covered him before but the most intense. Julian had just made it over to pull Scott, who was left within the space of the area Ryoa would attack, and get him just a few inches away before his youngest son fired off two blood colored beams of magical might at both the approaching Arragadon clone and the wounded and not-yet healed Monte. The first attack struck true and instead of destroying the clone into a million pieces like Nightmare's attack had done, it instead turned the beast into a solid stone-like substance and harndened him to where he could no longer move. Monte had somehow been able to witness the fast moving Ryoa and again barely dodged the attacker's wrath, this time burning his left arm off from where the elbow should have been. "You BASTARD!!!" Monte screamed in pain, his free hand clutching the nub where his arm use to be. "How in the hell did you move that fast?!" Scott came to after what seemed like an eternity witnessing what had just happened and then realizing he was still in a battle, before glancing over at Julian with the most questioning look that begged for answers. "Dad, did you see THAT??!!" Scott questioned, "that was incredible!!!" "Yes, but what is wrong with Ryoa? He isn't acting like himself at all..." Julian said with a concerned and horrific tone. The young fighter, now with the blade aimed in a throwing position, tossed the blade towards the now stone-like and immobile clone, and as the blade covered in blue aura entered his body, the aura went inward into the monster's body and shook it violently. The aura again came out in a bursting blue light and shattered the clone into a million tiny pieces that seemed to remain stone-like and it seemed the clone had met his end. As if acting in unison, the store ceiling suddenly filled the dark and gloomy Wal-Mart with bright and artificial light. The whole store could now be seen in detail, and every drop of blood, every ichor-filled cranny of Arragadon, and every single piece of equipment they could have damaged was now revealed. But it seemed like the light had more than just a revealing effect. The Arragadon clones were now spasing in hostile ways and hardening like their brother had just done from the aura attack unleashed upon him. They finally came to a sudden stone, their hands stretching to their throats as if they couldn't breathe in an almost statue-like fashion. While Miranda had ordered her food, two figures sat across from her in almost white-like pants and shirt. The two figures talked to themselves and sometimes, pointed at the girl before returning to their conversation. To the girl and everyone else around, these two people, a male and female, would seem like normal pedestrians enjoying a night of food with the unwelcomed chaos. The truth was however, much more important. ... "You know he's on his way, and we can't allow more damage to be done to this little town." the male said to the female. "You are right Cronus, but that doesn't mean we have the means to stop him completely. He was probably sent by Tartarus." the woman answered. "That may be true Venus, but it doesn't mean we are completely helpless. Remember, he is following THAT girl." Cronus pointed towards Miranda with a elderly finger. "So, he must have something he wants from her, and we have to stop him. He can't do anything if we take this matters into our own hands. Heaven will excuse us this one time, for the Creator's sake, I'm not letting this generation experience Armageddon just because I have to follow some damned rules." Cronus spoke sternly to his partner, who in turned nodded her head in agreement. The young man who to anyone else appeared like Philip Letrone, just off work a lot earlier, walked into the diner with a different set of clothes and a red pick-up truck outside in a parking spot with no-one else in it. As he walked in, the door clanked together and the little bell rang as the man walked through the entrance and looked around before seeing Miranda and walked towards her direction. The older couple immediatly stood up with the entrance of the man and walked over to Miranda's table, Cronus uttering only three words before sliding an amulet over to the girl on the table's smooth surface. "Hold this tight". The golden amulet held a single black and white ying-yang pattern with a golden chain around it. The man and women held their hands up in unison, summoning forth what seemed like rods encrusted with gold as well from thin air. Philip Letrone and everyone but Miranda seemed to be frozen in both time and space, as if everything had been stopped and only the four of them remained in the active loop of life. "You can't stop me, I'll come back for her Oracles!" Philip yelled with venom in his voice, as if being spoken through instead of speaking himself. "We shall see, demon, you are still on our plane, and Hell is a long way's back." Cronus said back with enough impunity. Venus held up her staff and aimed the black stone at Philip, which seemed to distort the body of the man, yanking and tearing his body from its preexisting matter. The man and demon both yelled at the top of their lungs, as they were torn from the space they tended too and disappeared in a cloud of ash that seemingly vanished at the same rate the man had disappeared. Cronus now held up his staff and the white stone seemed to cause a snow-like T.V. effect around the three of the existing humans that were not under any effects. Sure this would seem strange to Miranda, but as Cronus and Venus walked over to her, the amulet would have kept her immune to their time and space abilities while everyone else in the diner would just now see a missing both of both the elderly couple and the young girl who was suppose to be sitting across from them. The waitress walked over to her cook's order swing, and now instead of placing the order for the pork chop, would simply look at the cook and ask him if all the orders were done. "We haven't much time to explain, can you please come with us?" Cronus extended his hand, hoping Miranda would take it. |

Her meal hadn't made it to her table yet, but Miranda could feel that thing closing in fast, rapidly clearing the distance between them and slowing just in front of the diner. Her hand came to rest above the fork on her table. She felt ill prepared to deal with such a threatening force, but there wasn't enough time to escape. Every muscle in her body tensed as the dark being approached the front door, every step bringing him closer to his intended victim. Panic gripped the young lady, and her own grasp tightened around the metallic utensil. Perhaps if she could catch him in the neck or the eye, she'd be able to get away. But could he even be killed? "Here he comes." Miranda remarked to herself, almost in a whisper, as the Philip Letrone lookalike pushed his way into the restaurant, the bell above the door jingling. It only took him a second to find where she was sitting, and he immediately began walking in her direction. She was startled to see that he had the same appearance as the young man she'd left behind at the gas station. It seemed as though the innocent people gathered about wasn't a proper deterrent. She was just about to stand for the inevitable confrontation when an older couple moved in her direction. The man slid a single gold amulet with a ying yang pattern, telling her to hold on tightly to it. What the hell is this? What happened next only furthered her confusion; it seemed like everyone and everything in the diner was frozen in time. Well, everyone but her, the couple and the dark being before them. In a flurry of motion, the stalker was suddenly gone, his very existence erased right before her eyes. Releasing her grip on her fork, she pushed herself out of the booth, staring at the pair in awe. Without warning, the world around them began moving again, though it seemed as if they were removed from the space that these people occupied. "We haven't much time to explain, can you please come with us?" Miranda nodded, grasping his hand. A sudden thought occurred to her, one that was fairly terrifying. "That young man at the gas station...what happened to him? That thing looked just like him. He isn't...dead, is he?" |

The ruckus a few meters away from Nightmare's position did not deter him from his mission, one he needed to complete quickly before he was overwhelmed. He quickly transformed Raum into a mace with a long chain and hook on the end of it; cutting these enemies was futile, so he needed to inflict the kind of damage to them that did not allow them to replicate. As futile as anything was, it would at least slow them down until Ethan could locate the circuit breaker to restore power to the building, or at least, this part of it. Nightmare fended the creatures off, beating them back, rounding them up with the chain and beating them back once more. He leaped from shelf to shelf, making sure to keep them moving and restricting said movements to the small area they were in. Just a bit longer... The entire process was begining to take it's toll on him, he probably could not last much longer, especially considering the light energy he had expended earlier. As if on cue, the store lit up like a Christmas tree, the power being restored and the bright, neon lights flickering on everywhere. He could now see the other party of people where he had heard the noises before, currently engaging the slithering creature. While the lights above exposed him to said people, he had far more pressing matters to attend to. The creatures before him had begun to convulse, shivering and shaking violently, before they were suddenly petrified quite literally. As peculiar as this was to Nightmare, he would not waste a golden opportunity like this, bringing down the mace and smashing the creature right before him. The statue shattered, it's pieces scattering everywhere, with no sign of them returning to their original form. He continued smashing through the rest of the creatures, bashing the frozen horrors to pieces before he was satisfied with the damage he had done. Raum dematerialised as he leaned against a nearby shelf, trying to regain his composure. His strength would return to him in due time, yet could not risk engaging in any strenuous activity like this for at least a few more hours if he wanted to survive remaining on this plane. He turned to the other party, walking slowly towards them as he pulled his hood over his head. They may or may not have seen him, but he felt it best to spare them from having to constantly look at his grotesque visage. He stood behind the group, looking down on the crippled snake creature. "I take it this creature is the cause of what had transpired here?" |
