Chaos. That was all that engulfed the area surrounding the Mineral Bluff Wal-Mart. The small town, whose biggest event consisted of a reenactment of a Civil War battle, was now swamped in supernatural battle. On the rooftops of the Wal-Mart, the demonic entities had lined up after being summoned, only to disappear with the scaly bodies sliced into quarters and halves just as mysteriously and as quick as they had appeared. Barry, Scott, Ryoa, and Julian all stood on the ground level of the asphalt-covered parking lot within meters of what they now deemed the "key", thanks to the metal message sent by the being calling itself, "Saren". Julian, being an experienced Magi and one of the leaders of the Brotherhood, could not only see everything going on with a deeper level of understanding, but feel each and every demonic, human, and questionable being in the vicinity. Among all of the Lesser Demons appearing on top of the roof, there was another questionable entity with a somewhat demonic aura itself. This demon, however, had something different about it. It didn't sense hostile, but it also didn't feel like any other demon Julian had encountered before. He also felt the aura of the being attacking the Lesser Demons on the ground directly to his left. Of course, he couldn't help but hear all the profanity and commotion he was making as he verbally commanded everyone to leave the scene of the accident. They weren't all going to leave on foot, so not only would telling them to all leave cause a bigger problem but now everyone was hopping into their vehicles, flooring it, running into each other, and causing more alarms and emergency air-bags to pop out. The police were going to have a tough time with this... The officers who Viper was talking to before were now stunned, witnessing a being take a wound like that and to heal, as well as the demonic creatures attacking all over, were surely more than they had ever bargained for. What Viper had only accounted for ten or a dozen more portals were really twice that number. The Lesser Demons now lined both the roof and the parking lot, sniffing at the air and growling as they barred their feral claws and teeth. The three that were next to the Gainsly men were quick to feel more lead puncture their bodies and two of them shared the same fate of their brother who had managed to kill one of Barry's brothers in the force. Now with their weapons drawn, Scott and Ryoa now stood in a line with Barry, firearms staring down the lone demon whom shook off the bullet wounds and sprang forward towards them. It let out a slight wet bark as it was punctured throughout with three pistol's worth of ammo rocketing through it's body before landing sprawled outward on the asphalt. Julian took in the situation at a glance. He was sure that amid all the confusion that whatever he had felt upon the roof would take care of itself while the brash youngster out here was fully capable of handling a few more of the demons without hopefully hurting the boys in blue or the good country folk now running and driving into each other and their lives. He also felt something picking up his own aura, something more powerful and conscious of thought. This "other" thing was on the ground level, and Julian felt the surface of it's power, just as a scream from a woman broke his concentration for a brief moment. "Their running into the store!!!" a woman at the front door yelled as the demonic creatures zipped past her and a greater roar from the unexpected shoppers and workers erupted from the doors surrounding the store. Shit. Julian had felt the greater power vanish into the interior of the building with what felt like four Lesser Demons. Now not only would he have to try and deal with the Lesser Demons but a more powerful and intelligent demon fully capable of possibly fighting toe-to-toe with him and his boys. Barry had already broken rank, police instincts kicking in, and was the first to run into the store. "Let's go Ryoa!" Scott yelled to his brother, as his feet were already in motion. "Yeah, we've got to help Barry!" Ryoa returned as he strafed with his brother, guns at the ready into the Wal-Mart. Julian reached into his own pocket, retrieving a concealed revolver fashioned in aged steel and ran after his boys. As he passed by the doors, he also felt something else. It came from...Ryoa? Ryoa's normal calm aura was now surging with an anxious feel. If his aura were blue, then the anxiousness was causing a mixture of red and black aura to mingle with his normal aura. It didn't feel natural, but he would have to address it later. Right now they needed to fix this problem and hopefully that meant taking out the more powerful demon, and doing something with that damn key... The clerk had managed to catch what had happened in peripheral vision. The girl went from walking past the chips to becoming rigid as a board, going down, and breaking the glass bottle of Coke she had been holding in her hand. Philip Letrone had never thought that his shift would have started out with a bang, but now it certainly was time to shine. He ran and crouched down by the girl as she suddenly came to. He decided to act the hero. Besides, she was cute too! "Are you ok ma'am?! Do you understand me?! Can you hear me?! Oh God, you've got glass all in your hand, let me go get you a paper towel and some bandages!!!" He raised up to retrieve the items he had just mentioned, taking care not to slip into the puddle of Coke lying all over his floor, and ran to the rest room area in the store, just eight feet away. He knew the shelf under the sink well, grabbing a large roll of paper towels and Band-aid brand bandages to help the girl. As he made his way back to her, he manically ripped the paper towels and took her hand, being careful to wipe the glass off of her hand and to hopefully keep the blood from leaking all over her. Philip took a breath before making sure to slow down his speech this time. "Are you ok ma'am? What exactly happened just now?" He hoped she hadn't had a diabetic attack or a seizure, last thing he needed was a lawsuit taking his father's store. Even though he had not done a thing, he knew how these fancy-pants lawyers were now a days. Anything could be made into a case... He managed to look up just for a second to notice the time. 11:00 P.M. He quickly went back to the girl lying on the floor in a combination of glass, Coke, and blood pooled underneath her. He waited for a reply, concerned and hoping she could make a response before he called 911. Edited by Arcana Fang, Aug 26 2011, 07:51 AM.

More creatures began pouring out of the portals, both on the rooftops and in the streets below. While risking exposure seemed almost necessary at this point, he found that various individuals below were handling the situation rather well, which meant he needed to clean up the rooftops to, at the very least, alleviate the situation to a more stable level. Once again, using the cover of darkness and the plentiful shadows surrounding him, he leaped out, cutting down every adversary that came in his way. It was then that he took notice of the teenager, who appeared to be in some kind of daze. Nightmare was not sure how he ended up on the rooftops, but he was in the way. "Young man, MOVE!" He called out, before slicing another abomination in half. Ichor splattered all over the rooftop as he continued carving a path through the horde before he realised he was done. He quickly dematerialised Raum, turning his attention to the boy from earlier, who, while bewildered by what he had seen, did seem to be handling the situation rather well. "Alright, according to the code, you saved my hide. So I hereby offer your grace one favor of equal value at any time you ask, if you choose to accept, that is." Nightmare was not sure what this boy was talking about; perhaps this was his way of offering thanks for saving his life? It was then that he realised there was something off about him, an aura he sensed that did not seem natural. Perhaps the boy had some kind of special ability like some of the men below, which may have explained how he was relatively calm for someone who had just witnessed a demonic entity cleave through an army of creatures from another world. "I am...not sure how to respond to that. Just what are you doing up here? You should leave before you get hurt, I am sure your family is concerned for your safety." As if on cue, a woman screamed, claiming the creatures were now heading inside the hypermarket. Nightmare frowned, unsure how to proceed; on the one hand, it seemed that the outdoor area was safe for now and that he needed to be inside in case people needed his help. Unfortunately for him, the hypermarket was very well lit, so it would be hard for him to move undetected, as he would be spotten easily. He decided he needed to take that chance as time was of the essence and the people that had just rushed in could easily be ambushed amidst the shopping aisles. He looked over the other side of the roof, locating the cargo entrance, which was conveniently open and abandoned. He quickly turned to the boy before promptly leaping off the edge. "Take care of yourself...and please, tell no one that you saw me." With that, he landed softly by the wall and quietly made his way to the entrance, skirting through the darkened warehouse before finding the small door that led into the hypermarket. He quietly turned the knob and found himself by the food and produce section, taking cover behind the counters and shelves as he moved as quietly as he could. |

Viper knocked one demon off of his feet, just before ramming Bane through its hide. As it lay bleeding, Viper picked it up with his left hand, while swinging Bane again with his right. His cycle of strike and siphon was able to keep him going, and at this rate, he'd absorb enough life force to keep him alive for decades beyond his time. Still, all these demons coming out was getting annoying. In the back of his mind, he thought about grabbing a choice weapon from his arsenal that was extremely effective in taking out mass numbers, besides himself that is. As he continued to slaughter the dozens that came near him, he grew aware that some were getting beyond him and into the store. That needed to stop, right now. Felling one more, he jumped on it in a stride and tobogganed it towards the doors, shooting with his handguns as he did. The blood flowed like water that night as the entire scene descended into pandemonium. as he went for the door, he espied several figures dashing inside, some of them just kids. Viper gritted his teeth. Was there a sale for stupid people tonight? Reaching one of the doors, he mowed down the crowd of demons that were trying to get through with one single swipe from Bane, cleaving them into pieces. Viper's clothes were soaked in the blood, yet as the blood touched his bare skin, it was instantly absorbed into his body. It was quite the sight to see a person clean as a whistle while his clothes seemed to have been washed in sulfurous blood. As he guarded the door, he reloaded his guns and prepared for the next round. Normally, killing mass numbers of things was fun, but Viper was seething right now. He was doing this for free. |

Even after she had become aware of her surroundings once more, Miranda felt no real hurry to move in any significant way; even her own breathing was delayed for a while, the girl seeming to take one breath and then leave her chest still until she needed to swallow a fresh wave of oxygen. Her eyes continued to fixate on her hand, the reddened glass shards shining brightly in the store light, jagged gems embedded within her palm. She finally realized that the clerk had left her side, though she hadn't heard what he'd said before departing. Grunting, she pushed herself partially upright, elbow still resting in the cola as he returned to her side. "Are you ok ma'am? What exactly happened just now?" He questioned. He had paper towels and bandages? That was sweet of him. With the sudden thought that her arm was coated in soon-to-be dry and sticky soda, she finally sat herself upright, using her uninjured hand to push of the ground and let her stand. She wasn't shaky on her feet, at least that much she could be thankful for. But how could she explain what happened without sounding insane? It's not like he would understand what she was talking about if she said a being had communicated to her through her mind, thoroughly frightening her even with just it's presence pressing on her mind. The only thing that came to mind was to try to make it sound anxiety-related. "Sorry, that just sort of happens sometimes." Miranda stated with an embarrassed laugh, trying to play it off like it was no big deal even despite the fact that her heart was pounding a little harder than usual. "I get these panic attacks sometimes, I get really light-headed and stuff, it's hard to describe. Sorry for the mess..." Her gaze drifted to the floor, the mess of glittering glass shards, dark brown cola, and a few interspersed droplets of crimson blood covered the floor in a smallish puddle next to where she'd lain. Lucky enough, the only part of her that was soaked by the messy concoction was her arm, sparing even her shirt. "I'll go ahead to the bathroom to clean up." Accepting the paper towels and bandages and thanking the young man, the girl pushed her way past and headed toward the restroom sign, quickly closing the door and locking it. "Ugh, how did I get into this mess?" She questioned quietly to herself as she began pulled the shards of glass from her hand, wincing with each piece as it came loose, the daggers of clear material dropped onto one of the paper towels. As soon as she liberated the last crystalline blade from her palm, she turned on the faucet, hurrying to clean the soda and blood mix off of her before it had a chance to dry. As she went about using the paper towels to dry her arm and hand, she could feel another force approaching, a certain malevolence to it that bothered her but wasn't outright frightening like the last had been. I...I think it's time to get out of here. She thought to herself, not even worrying about bandaging her hand as she hurried out of the bathroom. "I'm gonna go now; this place doesn't feel safe. Thanks for the help." It was a quick jog to get her back to her car, though she didn't take it far, merely reversing into a parking spot before shutting it off and locking it, grabbing only her purse, shoving her phone and charger before jogging across the street. She knew she couldn't get far enough in the Mustang with the amount of gas she had, so her only hope was that she could put some distance between herself and whatever the presence was on foot and come back for her car later. |

For a moment, Ethan stood in silence, watching as the hulking demon dropped to the ground below. With a heaving sigh, he sat down upon the rooftop. "Darn it, what am I supposed to do? There's a meteor, and dying people, and this is all fine. I can take care of dying people. Now I've got Hellspawn fighting Hellspawn, and visions, and chances are that people's souls are being eaten by monsters. I'm new to this, what am I supposed to do? I wasn't told about this when I was given the job!" Wandering around the rooftop, Ethan kicked the corpses of the demons surrounding him. All of a sudden, a lance appeared in the boy's hand, with which he poked at each of the cadavers, their essence being transferred into the weapon. "Maybe the demon guy could use help. Then again, maybe he's got this covered. Then again, maybe he's just here to eat everyone's souls. But, then he would have eaten these guys. This is so confusing, I don't know what to do." The lance vanished from Ethan's hand as he peered over the ledge. He hadn't noticed the bodies behind him vanishing into dust, for his senses were focused upon the scene in the lot of the great shopping center beneath him. There was a great mass of swirling blacks and greys that filled the area, so many that he couldn't keep track of what was living and what was not. Suddenly, he was standing amongst the crowd, with what seemed to be normal humans fighting back against the demons through whatever means they could. Invisibly, Ethan darted between the bodies of fallen men and women, snipping away the silver cord that held their soul in place with his partisan's blade, the weapon blinking in and out of existence as he traversed the entire lot in the span of seconds. It was sometimes difficult to look into the faces of the dead. With each soul that traveled into his lance, Ethan prayed that he freed them well enough so that their memory wouldn't recall this night. It was a tough job, cutting memories with such precision that even the soul couldn't remember them, but also butchering in such a fashion as to prevent any unnecessary memory loss. That was the way most of his modern breed handled souls, anyways; the older reapers were generally not as compassionate. He sometimes wondered if his own memory was altered by his sire. Well, it didn't matter anyhow; there was no use in worrying about a soul when you didn't have it anyways. Walking across the spiritual plane was far less time consuming than moving through material. Unfortunately, most demons knew about that fact, so it was only through luck that the smaller ones were too preoccupied to set up a barrier around the parking lot. He might have helped out, but a physical chill filled Ethan's essence when he looked upon the man known as Viper. Besides, he could take care of himself, right? As it was, a much larger presence gave off an aura of dread from within the shopping center. If he didn't do anything about it, the other reapers would have Ethan's head. If he failed to do anything about it, the demons would have his head. This never boded well for anyone. He couldn't just walk into the store, of course. He'd have to traverse the material plane to march through the barriers of whatever preternatural beasties laid in wait in order to do that. Slowly, the walls and doors began to form in Ethan's vision, the world being given a more solid form. Concealing his visible body within the folds of extraplanar space, Ethan had to force the store's sliding doors open with his hands. Precariously, he scanned the halls, swirls of spiritual matter streaking haphazardly throughout. A pair of boys and another pair of older men entered from the opposite side of the store, but they seemed farther away from any black presence than Ethan was. To his left, the smell of oranges and the presence of something impure pervaded Ethan's senses. Slowly, he crept around the fruits and vegetables, nearly tripping over a massive gourd that somebody had dropped on the floor. With partisan in hand, Ethan circled around the swirling black mass that he was encroaching upon, and, with one decisive move, he let loose a shout as he brought the blade to bear upon... "Oh, cripe! I'm sorry!" Ethan stood frozen, the spear clutched above his ahead. The demon that had rescued him earlier was crouched before him. "I don't mean to hurt you! I thought you were one of the other demons or something. I was just, um...do you need some help?" At once, the spear vanished from Ethan's hand. The last thing he wanted to do was get stabbed because he looked halfway threatening. |

Before he could continue stalking through the rest of the hypermarket, a loud shout errupted from behind Nightmare, surprising him as he whirled around and saw the youth from earlier. He quickly grabbed the young man, wrapping his meaty arms around his neck and covering his mouth with his hand as he pulled him down and concealed him under his cloak, silencing him almost immediately. "Shhh, by God, you will have every one of those monstrosities upon us! He quickly looked over the top of the shelf he was currently hiding behind, noting there was no other pressence around the immediate area. He quickly turned back to the young man, scowling at him. "What are you trying to do, get yourself killed?" It was then that he noticed the boy holding his weapon, a partisan, between his hands. Nightmare frowned, unsure why he was carrying such a large weapon around, especially one that emanated a very unnatural aura, like it was magically imbued. It then occured to him what the young man had said earlier. "Did you say demons? I've met many a hellion, yet these are unlike any I have seen before..." |

"I, uh, um, uh..." Ethan sputtered, the words upon his lips left chaotic and unformed. The demon sure spoke kind of funny. Perhaps it was the irony in the "by God" he spoke? "You're, uh, you must be new or something," Ethan spoke, his tongue tied. "Demons don't exactly exist on all realities at the same time, you know. Or you don't. Um, what I mean is, you probably don't know about other demons because you weren't introduced to them. I'm not exactly an expert at metaphysics, so you'll just have to trust me. It's all the same stuff though, spiritual stuff, I mean. Some demons are made directly from pure souls, some just from spirit essence...aww man, I'm rambling now, aren't I?" The spear in Ethan's hand flashed in and out of reality, warping between planes and realities unseen by the naked eye. He didn't know whether he felt safer with it in hand or tucked away in subspace, so it was probably best to keep it in both places at once. "Oh, I forgot, you probably don't know who I am then," Ethan spoke, cocking his head. "Ethan Hase, reaper of souls. At least, that's what I was sent here to do, but it seems that plans have changed." |

"A reaper? Fascinating...that does explain a few things." It was time for them to move, they needed to flush out the creatures and dispose of them before they could hurt more innocents. Nightmare got up, moving around the shelf and towards the next area, motioning for Ethan to follow him. He quietly stalked the next aisle, listening for any audio cues as to what might be around the corner. Sure enough, another one of those reptilian creatures leaped out and straight into the drawn Raum, impaling itself into the sword before Nightmare swung the sword to the side, flicking the creature and the ichor it left behind off of it. "They call me Nightmare, a pleasure to meet you, Ethan. You say these creatures are hellspawn, yet from another plane? Does this mean they follow a completely different set of rules than the ones I am familiar with?" Without warning, another creature came at them from the side, jumping through the shelf and knocking out whatever had occupied it before. Nightmare held Raum up to defend himself, yet the force of the creature pushed him back into the nearby shelf. As if on cue, another one decided to make an appearance from the other end of the aisle, behind where Ethan would be, and then another occupying the space where it's slain brother had been earlier. The creature clawed and bit at Nightmare, but he held it back before using his right hand to clamp it's mouth shut and blasting it with dark matter at point blank range. The creature's head exploded, spraying the area with more of the dark ichor that made up what was probably it's blood. |

With each body that the Nightmare felled, Ethan brought his partisan into existence and prodded the corpses, the spiritual essence feeding his blade and his spirit. There was no use letting the demons dissipate into nothingness, especially if any of them housed a pure soul inside; the risk of letting a ghost form was far more concerning than absorbing their 'stuff' for later usage. "Well, uh, mister Nightmare," Ethan spoke, stumbling around both blood and words alike, "Usually every demon is as simple as performing a ritual of sorts, imbuing nothing with something. That is, uh, putting something like spirit matter or human souls into a lifeless body. It's like putting batteries into a toy. Anyways, people tend to have these huge imaginations that unfortunately are shaped by their own spiritual forces. Usually, it turns into stuff like dreams. Sometimes, though, too many people believe the same thing, and then it just develops over time. "What I mean is, uh, the basic general guideline has a heaven, a hell, and a world in the middle, right? Sometimes, maybe that hell can have a bunch of different variations. Like, Gehenna is far different than what you'd read about Hell in Dante's Inferno, or in Paradise Lost. But, if lots of people believe in one variation of what Hell is, especially over a large length of time, then that version might come into being. I guess the reasoning behind this is that if the Creator can make people out of spiritual stuff, then people can also do the same thing. The only way that beings like angels and demons can't make whole alternate worlds on their own is because they aren't made of one hundred percent of the stuff that people are made out of. "But, anyways, I'm sorry if this goes over your head. It took me a few months to understand all of this myself. Just, uh, trust me on this." |

"That....is....interesting! A little...help...here?" Nightmare grunted while he held back the two creatures, who appeared to be adapting well to his tactics and taking full advantage of the smaller space they were in. Nightmare was trying his best to avoid drawing attention to himself, considering the repurcussions could jeopardise getting to the bottom of this, yet he was in no position to let the creature gain the upper hand because of that. He forced off the one to his left, flinging it back down the aisle and into a stack of canned soup before turning his attention to the creature to his right. He merely shifted Raum from the form of a broadsword into that of a spiked chain, wrapping it around the creature's neck and sawing it off. "Regardless, these creatures are obviously malicious entities. I can sense a more powerful one somewhere within the depths of this building, so I am assuming it is their leader. Perhaps it can be...questioned as to what this is all about..." The creature he had flung off earlier came charging back, prompting him to fling out the chain and wrap it around it's body. With a bit of force, the spikes dug into it's flesh and serrated it into several segments, before he pulled it back and dematerialised it. |

"Oh, sorry," Ethan muttered, scratching his head, "I get a little distracted sometimes. Rambling, you know. I think it's a by-product of not having lungs, or any sort of organ really." After lancing the lifeless demons, Ethan continued following the Nightmare. "Well, anyways, I'm not entirely cut out for this whole demon hunting business. I mean, it's in the job description, but I always figured that it was more of a guideline than a hard rule. It's not like this is an everyday occurrence, and there's far more qualified people than me. Oh, hold on, I got this one." Another lizard demon had clambered over the shelves, dropping to the ground on its head. As it scrambled around, flailing its gangly limbs, it hadn't noticed the Nightmare and Ethan standing at the end of the aisle. With partisan in hand, Ethan lunged forward, effortlessly carrying himself and the weapon as if they weighed as light as clouds. It wasn't enough that he outright skewered the beast upon his spear, but, after a massive burst of spiritual energy shot out from the spear's blade across the full length of the aisle, there was absolutely no remains of the demon that had been there moments before. "Sorry about that," said Ethan, turning back towards the Nightmare as the partisan vanished into the air, "That was kind of overkill. I haven't really practiced all that much." |

As the motley crew of police officer, two young men, and an old guy ran through the swarms of people running the opposite way, Ryoa couldn't help but feel like a fish swimming upstream. If the stream was made of panicking, crazy people all running for their lives and cramming themselves in his line of fire!!! Ryoa managed to catch himself a demon in peripheral, standing in front of one of the cash registers, aiming to claw down an elderly man who haplessly threw his arms out in front of himself to stop the deathblow. Ryoa took a small breath of air, tried to calm his senses and aimed his pistol through the air, channeling his natural Magi ability to seemingly slow things down long enough to concentrate and make an effective shot. Julian hadn't know that Ryoa could do this sort of thing, that was, unless Scott had run his big-ass mouth again. The bullet burst forth in a combination of fire and fury, singing through the air as it caught the reptilian devil across the jaw, taking it's head clear off as well as spreading dark purple blood in spots over the man's arms and face. He didn't even take a second glance once he realized the thing was dead, he swung his wooden cane into the things chest, satisfied with his own blow of death, and ran the hell out of the store as fast as his legs would carry him. Barry had effectively taken down some of the demons himself, seemingly shooting one bullet and taking one of the creatures straight back to hell as the boys followed a gore trail to find their African American friend. Barry stood right in front of the jewelry section, gun tucked to his left side but ready to be drawn, and stood erect for a bare second until the trio had caught up to him. "This is some crazy shit guys, why the hell did I ever let you convince me to learn some of this Magi bullshit..." Barry said in a sarcastic but at the same time serious tone. Julian glanced down the other aisles, as he motioned for the boys to do so as well, and the pressed their backs together to create a tight perimeter as Barry reloaded his weapon, dropping the spent clip onto the floor in front of him. "Well, you can always go back to not believing, and obviously you'd end up knowing after a night like this!" Julian joked toward the 35-year-old cop. "Guys! Look up that way, towards the electronics!!!" Scott broke in, pointing with his own gun forwards down the large hallway-like opening. It just so happened that there was a pillar shooting up to the ceiling, and within this pillar were stored power cables that ran power through the whole store. One of the lizard-like demons had just tackled the pillar and tore through the plastic-encased pillar bringing the lights down across the whole store save a few emergency lights installed just ahead to give walking light to the customers trapped inside. It was dark, that is, until Barry lit up a flashlight and crossed it over hand to match his pistol. It was a trick common for the police force to use in situations of low light, and Barry now assumed leading role of the posse. Ryoa had made sure not to speak up, but as of right now, he could see just fine. Something in his eyes must have helped with the Magi energy and allowed him to peer through this low light setting as though he had some sort of magical night vision goggles built into his eyes. As Barry's flashlight danced around the aisles, lighting up a few targets that soon met their end, Ryoa could see something to the far corner of the electronic aisle staring straight at him. It has blood-red eyes, an almost angular face not unlike the lizards running around, but at the same time, seemed capable of speech and understanding. This must have been the more powerful demon, but Ryoa wasn't going to just yell it out. "Guys, let's head towards the electronics...maybe we can get the power back on..." Ryoa said meekly. Julian felt it again, and with the advice of his youngest son, he confirmed it. The more powerful demon was in the electronic part of the store, and had probably ordered the lesser demon to cut the power off as to better survive this encounter. He wanted to just run over there and kill the thing, but knowing how the demon worked would be more of a necessity than would be to kill it. He wanted answers for all these questions that had suddenly sprang up, as well as all of these things happening out of nowhere. He felt like he was in one of those games the boys liked to play....uh...Resident Evil or Resident Demon or something like that. That wasn't important anyway, and it would be best to keep the situation at hand in the front of his mind. The boy had managed to look at him, and Monte knew this would mean they would head towards them. The demonic entity stood a full six feet tall, and had scales and claws like his lesser demonic brethren. However, he was more snake-like as far as his body structure held up. He slithered past where he had just been, and held his hands forward, mystical runes encased the air before him and he summoned forth something demonic. With all the spiritual energy focused on this very land, he could now muster something far greater than these lesser demons. "Come forth, Arragadon..." Monte spoke with his tongue slithering across his lips. A shadow appeared from the runic opening and threw itself around Monte. The portal shut, and the shadow took on the form of a man, with two glowing green eyes. It tilted it's head toward Monte, as if waiting for another command. It climbed onto the floor, however, like the lesser demons, and looked back at it's master once more. "I'm gonna go now; this place doesn't feel safe. Thanks for the help." That was all she said before the girl, still with no name, took off and left Philip Letrone by himself, mouth open wide as he watched her not only leave, but leave her car here as well too. "This place not being safe my ass...you just didn't want to clean anything up!" Philip said to himself rather angrily as he went to the supply closet and retrieved a mop and bucket to clean the puddle up with. He knew night shift would suck, but not this much. As the wet mop plopped itself on the floor, he began to let out a sigh. It took a little over 6 minutes before the mess was clean and the man was behind the counter once again, face stuck in Full Throttle magazine. The door bell rang as a customer came in, but this customer was dressed far more different than anyone from around here normally dressed. From the height of it, the customer looked like a man, but it's face and body were hidden behind the cowl and folds of some sort of robe it had on. It was a black robe, lace with silver trimmings and covered from head to toe in something Philip could only guess to be Scottish or something. "Be careful where you step...just had to clean up." Philip said cautiously, one hand already on the pistol underneath his counter. The being took a deep breath and stretched out his hand, and in an instant, Philip was lying on the floor, blood spewing out of his mouth. "Now look what you've done...another mess Philip Letrone..." the being said with a silky but shallow voice echoing from the confides of it's robe. The being touched the man's head as he bent down, and seemingly morphed himself into the spitting image of the clerk lying before his very eyes. "Now, let's find out more Philip...I'm going to read your mind...no you're not dead, but I will borrow your mind for a spare moment." the being breathed as his eyes fluttered and a whole two-seconds had passed. "Thank you Philip. You've been more helpful than you know...and just for all the help, I'll let you live..." the being raised it's foot over Philip's head, "...in a life far better than this!" The being brought his foot down with great force, crushing Philip's skull into oblivion, as well as getting blood all over the place. The being's robe morphed into the cloths similar to Philip's, before he grabbed a couple of sodas from the refrigerator and walked out of the store, in Philip Letrone's identity. He walked towards the direction the girl had gone, and flipped one of the caps off the soda glass bottle and began to chug down it's carbonated contents. |

(My bad, I figured that with the chaos outside, they'd have closed off the store and vacated it. I just assumed it was empty.) "It is fine, we do what we must to extinguish these things." The lights suddenly went out, plunging the building into darkness save for a few emergency lights that lit up various parts of the store. Nightmare breathed out a sigh of relief, smiling under the cover of darkness as his red irises glowed brightly; now that visibility was low, he did not have to worry about concealing his pressence to avoid being spotted by anyone. The store had plenty of dark corners where he could avoid detection and moving around was less of a hassle now. Being a creature born from darkness, it meant that he could better operate under these circumstances anyway. However, this probably meant that the same could apply for the creatures he was hunting as well. "This I can work with...I like our odds better now." He was not sure if Ethan could see as well as he could in the dark, but he motioned for him to follow anyway. While the young man could take care of himself well enough, he did not want to stray too far from him in case they needed each other's aid. Nightmare moved swiftly through the darkness, bounding through the aisles and avoiding any potential civilians that were still vacating the building. It also appeared that there were less of the creatures stalking the place and what few there were were easily dispatched as Nightmare surprised them from behind. He finally reached a point where he found himself within the pressence of a very malicious entity and upon surveying the scene, located what appeared to be the leader of the creatures. The serpentine demon slithered around a small, relatively enclosed area, ordering it's minions to move out while it began casting some form of spell, archaic runes enveloping the air around him. It summoned another creature, one more humanoid in appearance, which prompted Nightmare to finally act. He gathered a decent amount of holy light within his right hand before launching it at the two creatures. "I am here to deliver you to your eternal respite, your terror ends now!" |

One last demon outside tried to crawl away from its demise, but it was snuffed out by a point black range shot of dragon's breath rounds. Seeing the demon burn away to ash, Viper holstered Fireshot over his left shoulder and looked around the ruined parking lot. By now, all the demons he killed had already dissolved into ash, and all that remained was the blood that repainted the lot, and a reeking smell of rotten eggs. "Maybe that's just me," Viper said under his breath as he looked with disgust at his blood-soaked clothes. Viper tallied up the count of the demons he just killed out here. If he guessed right, he killed around thirty of them, while the others got away inside. He had debated going inside, but he had a feeling that there were people already taking care of things inside. Besides, if any demon got back out, he'd just kill it. Simple, really. As he scanned the area, his eyes fell on the crater and immediately his brow fell over his eyes. As soon as that thing showed up, the world went to hell, so to speak. Just what was so important about whatever was in there that would cause demons to go berserk? Perhaps it was best destroyed. "A look wouldn't hurt, I suppose..." As he reached the crater, he looked down into it to see what was there, and immediately saw it: a midnight-black diamond-shaped object that had a red spark in the center that looked more like a swirl. As soon as Viper's eyes saw it, he felt a burning pain in his left arm. Looking at it, he saw that the yellow parts of it were glowing violently. Something about this object was causing his Reaver to yearn for it. Viper looked down at the thing again in the pit. "What the hell is this thing, and why am I reacting to it?" Viper then leaped into the pit, sliding down the bank until reaching the bottom. There it lay on a mass of earth and shattered automobile parts like it was on a sacred altar. As he got closer, the feeling in his arm intensified. Something in his mind was screaming at him to get away, but his feelings wanted to touch it. One touch wouldn't hurt, right? Besides, if it summoned more demons, he could just as easily kill them. In his mind, he heard the voice of Saren again, calling it the key. Was this the key that bastard was talking about? If it was, there was no business to keep it lying around. If someone else picked it up, who knows what hell would ensue. Viper braced himself as he reached out to the object, and as he did, his arm burned more and more. |
