Remember that case from a long time ago where a California law made it illegal for minors to buy violent games? Well, the Supreme Court says THAT was unconstitutional, as it was a violation of the right to free speech.

The ruling was 7-2 in favor for video games.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

Yet the supreme court still wants to outright ban violent games:

Well, I hope this latest ruling at least gives us incentive to relax some. Then again, this wouldn't be the first time they talked through both sides of their mouths.

So comments and articles like the following:

Have become pretty common since the Supreme Court made it's decision. People are blowing this issue out of proportion. I do like the part about parents being made more wary as a result of this, but acting like videogames are the be all, end all of violence is retarded. To the guy in the video above who compared videogames to books; yes, it's an interactive medium, but I'm pretty sure there are a lot more murders/serial killings in relation to books than videogames.

To add some more to the violence vs media thinger, the guy that murdered John Lenon was reading Catcher in the Rye after doing the deed so yeah.

"BUT KORO" the parents yell "WHAT ABOUT THOSE KIDS THAT WERE PLAYING GTA?!"

"They were dumbass motherfuckers looking to pass the buck." I say to them in hushed tones.

In all honesty, no one should know better than the parents (ideally anyway) if a child is ready to play a violent videogame. You know, I think the only reason this crap is an issue is because people make it an issue. Violence related to videogames is non-existant in the Middle East and you've got like 6 year olds playing GTA. I'm not saying it's right, but it's proof that maybe, just MAYBE, this only happens in the West because people make a big deal of it.

^ That. So hard.

EDIT: It's probably being made a big deal because a) New Media is Evil and b) it seems like second nature to pass the buck and blame and action on something they do in their off time in order to get shipped off to rehab or a mental ward instead of jail. Like rapists blaming porn for their deplorable acts. Basically, not one criminal wants to go to jail and will stir shit up and make small things a big deal JUST to try to beat the system. If some serial killer that says "GTA made me do it because I'm obviously a retarded shit head that doesn't know better," he/she won't care that his disrupting the game industry by having Moral Guardians go "SEE THIS IS WHY OUR CHILDREN NEED TO BE KEPT IN BASEMENTS WITH NOTHING BUT STYROFOAM BLOCKS FOR ENTERTAINMENT."
