![]() Yup. Lovey-duvey upped and proposed to me on this past Friday. He rented a hotel room with a jacuzzi so we could have our belated Valentine's day. The first night, he asked me to stock the fridge with some Mt. Dew (his favorite drink ;)) and when I got done with that, he took me by the hand to a small couch and sat me down. Then and there, he poured out his soul to me. He talked about the last six months we've been dating and how it changed him and me. We talked more and more reflecting on our moments together, when out of nowhere, he reaches out to take my left hand with his right. In his left hand is a small box and when he opened it, I looked at one of the coolest rings ever. Then he said "Will you marry me?" And of course, I said yes. So, yeah. I'm engaged to the best man on the planet. He spared no expense with the ring. It's white gold with three jewels (two sapphires and a diamond). Here's a picture. But yeah, we're planning on a summer wedding, in early August after I graduate. Needless to say, this was an awesome weekend. |

Eh, he's not really into children. And like Bayonetta, "If there's two things I hate in this world, it's cockroaches and crying babies..." So, yeah, no plans for a family. Although we'll have cats. :P |

Can't say I disagree with him there. Cats are far more tolerable than kids. Well, other peoples' kids, anyway. I have yet to procreate, so we'll see what happens when there are little Rynexes running around. |

I would agree that you can't go wrong with cats, but of course, that's because we don't have Keiji Jr.'s running around...yet. |

I'll be mister downer out of everyone here, because that's my job. Isn't six months a little soon? I mean, I know people who've dated for like ten years, so I know when the upper limits start reaching a bit of a crazy zone, but less than a year seems way too soon. Have you weighed that thought in yet? You're going to be joined at the hip with someone else for what is hopefully the rest of your lives, do you really know him as much as you should in less than a year? |

In typical relationships, yes, it does seem rather fast. The thing is, our relationship became fruitful very quickly, more so then we expected. He didn't expect that it would get so far so quickly, and neither did I. It just did. We visited each other sporadically over several weekends (almost once a week), and even spent extended time with each other. We even went to visit the family over Christmas. The weekend visits stopped suddenly at the New Year, mainly because of a surge in his job that he had to work at. As he told me, he'd been working himself ragged with new store set-ups, overtime every week since the New Year (still is, in fact, but it's supposed to stop come the first of May). During that time apart, he and I were thinking how this would affect us as we couldn't see each other. We called each other every night, but that was it. He got a break in mid-February, and during that week, out conversations began to be vague and cryptic. Then, one weekend together when we got back together from several weeks apart, he and I sat down and talked about the last six weeks, and how it had affected the last six months. As it turned out, the relationship only got sweeter. The rest of what happened up to the proposal I already covered in my first post. But yeah, it was fast, but it felt like the natural thing to do. There were no questions, no fears (which is astonishing for me since I'm great at finding the but-whats, as it were), no hesitation. It felt like the right time. But yeah, that's the pith of our relationship. |
