Square needs to lower their crazy forecasts, and focus on the strengths of their studios instead of developing games with Über-graphics, and little substance, that take over 8 years to make. Maybe focus on cutting the graphics budget by 30%, and focus on the gaming experience. that would allow you to release more games at a lower cost. In short? Don't bastardise beloved franchises just to appeal to a newer, younger demographic if you can't guarantee they'll sell to both fanbases, don't pour a ton of money into a project that you expect to turn out a large profit, even with an aggressive ad campaign and don't focus entirely on developing ludicrous next gen graphics when you should be making a game for the sake of gameplay. When it takes you almost a decade, millions of dollars and hundreds of people to make your game, then you know you're doing something terribly wrong, when it takes other companies one tenth of that to make more successful yearly instalments of a popular franchise. He was heard to say something along the lines of "I think when video games become an art form is when players will cry at level 17." It was about the same time Final Fantasy VII came out.
