I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

Not really; they've already released a new console and probably won't be wasting any time or money on any new doodats to compliment it for a long time (especially considering their current losses) plus everyone's already seen whatever new first party titles are coming through the previous Nintendo Directs. If anything needs to be shown at E3, it'll be third party titles and those'll be all over the floor, without the need for presentation.

It's Sony and Microsoft that need to clear the air about all the rumors and misconceptions about their consoles.

Taking into consideration how Australia is taking forever to get over their rut of overpricing the videogame market, maybe it is for the best they try to enforce a more digital market. They probably believe that, on some level, there's no need to waste effort on changing the market because of how trends have made it seem like everything's going digital anyway.
Except the digital market is just as overpriced. Retailers drop the price by at least two or three bucks, sometimes even $10. Nintendo's games are permanently $70 here for 3DS games on the eSho (because I made a mistake in my previous post, $80 is for the Wii U games).

Also, Enzan? Reggie's the President and Chief Operating Officer for NoA. A slightly different job than Iwata's being the Chief Executive Officer.
Just checking.

As for E3, yeah, this time is more about the PS4 and the #Dealwithit360, but Ninty needs to make a serious showing in my mind.

Dragon's Crown has drawn the ire of Kotaku journo Jason Schreier, whose dick seems to shrivel up at the sight of women with such massive milkbags.

George Kamitani, Vanillaware founder and lead artist, responded with some art that seems more in line with Schreier's predilictions.

Also, great read

I think he's allowed to have his opinion. I don't like the hyper realism of some games. I don't like when hyper real games get un real boobs.

Was this the wrong game to do this to? Probs.

Was it wrong to bring up? No.

And I love me some tits.

As much as I think Kotaku is an awful and frequently hypocritical source of games journalism (it's sexist as frequently as it tackles sexism) I think their own follow-up is much better than "In Defence of Boobies"

Also the implication that the big-breasted characters in the game are "Satire" is frankly absurd, people just slap that word on anything these days to escape responsibility for doing something bad

I think his reaction showed it wasn't just this one character, but it was the culture in general, and this game pitched him over the edge.

Also Kotaku has become rather crap.

I do agree that there is a need to discuss sexism in gaming. However, a high-fantasy game with a simplistic storyline that amounts to "Raid dungeon, get loot" would probably not be the best kind of game to bring up when it comes to sexism in games. Even outside of gaming, high-fantasy is going to feature idealized/hypersexualized women. Men, as well, or has everyone forgotten about Fabio, Conan the Barbarian, or even Vanillaware's own Odin Sphere, wherein Odin was basically a giant mass of muscle supported by twig legs?

If you want fleshed out female characters, you're not gonna find it here. You do have options, though, like Mass Effect, or any Metroid aside form Other M, or Persona.

I don't think Other M counts.

If something similar has been posted before, kick me. While Nintendo won't be doing a major press event at E3 2013, they will instead be pushing more Nintendo Directs in the lead-up and also holding two smaller events, one for the general media and another exclusively for devlopers and publishers.

Quote:

One of these will be focused towards the games media, similar to the larger conferences of old, and a second presentation will be made specifically for business partners like publishers and retailers where Nintendo will discuss its plans where business is concerned.

The media event will occur just prior to E3 opening and allow a small group of media to play a selection of ‘strong’ games.

Personally I'm of the belief that "Areas where you should not want fleshed out female characters" is staggeringly small and in fact basically only includes "works where none of the characters actually have genders"
