So, what exactly is the benefit of an always on/drm console? Also, what are these electronic that the Ubisoft CEO is referring to as these "always-on" electronics that humans are so use to for the most part in life?

I'm wondering if us (the consumers) took the video game industry for granted (many) years ago, or if the industry itself is starting to take us for granted...

We took them for granted so much that they take us for granted.

Remember Liberation Maiden, the 3DS mech-based shoot-em-up from Suda51?

Word is there may be a PS3 sequel. :3

Ever heard of the Sega Pluto?

Neither has most people, until now.

Puportedly, it was basically a Sega Saturn with online capabilities via Netlink.

tl;dr, Sega fails at hardware by making redundant hardware.

So what's new.

Makes sense when knowing how the Saturn was for its time and how they (Sega) eventually said it was basically not the way to go before moving onto the Dreamcast. Never knew of this (Pluto) though tbh and am interested in reading up a bit more on it... The name though just makes me happy they didn't stick with that name (or another planet name) for the Dreamcast.

So here's an absolute nugget of gold. Tomb Raider hasn't been released in Japan yet, but for a while the Japs realized they could download the western version of the game on Steam early, complete with finished japanese localization (VAs, subs and all). To top it all off the import even saved them a fair bit of money whilst appearing to cheat Squeenix out of some of the money they would've ordinarily earned. Their solution? Remove the Japanese language from the game entirely via patches, then sell it back to them as DLC. FOR THIRTY FUCKING DOLLARS.

Oh Square, how the mighty have fallen.

The second Pluto prototype (there were only two) has emerged, and the sunuva bitchin' thing still works (aside from the wonky disc lid).

That guy has a quite the collectible, and even though the disc lid isn't able to close it can thankfully play games if kept shut/closed. I wonder how much it'll end up selling for on eBay. Hopefully he puts up a good amount of pictures when he decides to sell it.

It's basically just an online Saturn from the sound of things... which is really ahead of its time.
...Does she have a mustache?

The guys at Armature discuss why they left Retro Studios. Honestly, I can get behind this, though it's a damn shame they couldn't stay with Retro.

Yeah, that's the double-edged sword for working with Nintendo. Great company to make games for; not-so-great for hardware sharing. Platinum Games might face the same fate.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???
