How about DOWNGRADING the Vita to compete with the 3DS? How does that even make sense? But it's like I've said for a while now, the industry is heading in a direction that clearly indicates a crash is coming. There's just too much bullshit and politics going on and people are only thinking about money as opposed to providing a quality product and service.

On that note, the Vita, right now, costs only $50 less than a PS3 and it offers no real innovative or new technology to compete with the 3DS. Why would anyone, save for fanboys, even bother buying it?

EA buys off Pop Cap games and is getting ready to shut down servers for Battlefield, Tiger Woods and others. Ubisoft comes out with it's own online pass in the form of the UPlay Pass. So now we're not only paying to have a pass to be able to play our games, but we're not even guaranteed they'll last because servers will shut down whenever developers damn well feel like doing it. On that note, it's getting to the point where we're slowly being locked out of any content within physical copies of games. I'm guessing this is developers' ways of trying to monopolise digital distribution as the future of gaming, with or without our consent. DCUO wants you to pay 10 bucks for Lantern rings, an ability that should've been in the game from the begining. People claimed this game was not free to play because they'd be getting free updates, but this isn't free, is it? Sony is quietly removing a feature from their PS3s. Something about the HDMI cable or port, I didn't really understand it that well. They're also buffing up their protection from hackers and pirates...by primarily targetting their own people. They also just gave $20 000 000 to indie developers because they obviously want to monopolise the market. In happier news, King of Fighters World announced, with gameplay footage. This is an action MMO styled like a traditional beat 'em up where you can switch between fighters on the fly. The best part? It's free to play, plus the game is completely canon and connects with the rest of the series. Unfortunately, while the game is already out overseas, there don't seem to be any plans for localisation. Star Wars The Old Republic claims it will have over 200 hours of gameplay for each class. The Crash Mode will be taken out of Burnout Paradise because it will be the main focus in a downloadable Burnout title called Burnout Crash (which will have a top down view and a goofy art style for some reason). Tim Schafer has an opportunity for gamers to pitch their story ideas (hilarious video). Legendary pictures is working on a Mass Effect movie. Limbo is coming to the PSN on July 19th. Unfortunately, they want 10 bucks in advance and they'll only give it back to you in in-game items. Madden 12 will have no additions to online franchise mode, nothing new here. Catherine demo is out and it's awesome (no complaints from me). The game will have multiple endings. Atmosphere and soundtrack is awesome. There seem to be some control issues, but not crazy enough to warrant the casuals' bitching. There is no method to this game, it's trial and error as well as creativity. There's something in there about gamers bitching that IGN gave it a 9.0. People are also bitching that they're not seeing full on sex scenes...yeah, the stunted youth of today's gaming generation, huh? So, what have we learned today? That developers are still finding new ways to screw us over and make more money/cut costs at our expense. Games are having core content removed in a bid to nickel and dime us. From an abundance of sub-par DLC, to key content locked on the disc, to paying for online passes. It just keeps getting worse and worse. You know, I think I'm actually starting to be thankful that the Wii isn't as online heavy as the other two, because this shit never happens to Wii gamers considering there is so little focus on the online market. Maybe Nintendo was onto something here, which might come crumbling down when the Wii U is released and becomes more online accessible. Just some food for thought.
