Valve says that "if Steam sales didn't work, we wouldn't hold them."

Take that, EA.

As a follow up to the post I made in the NSMB2 topic, here's more incentive from Nintendo to go digital:

I already posted that in the 3DS topic a few days ago, man D:

Games for Cats, an iPad game that is geared towards distracting cats from ruining your furniture, has easy to download and cheap DLC. So easy to download, that even the cats can purchase it. iPad owners were not pleased.

The thing is, the DLC is only US$0.99. So why the fuck are people complaining that their cat accidentally ended up spending a dollar for more games that'll keep them entertained for longer? Sure, the iPad screen has a really small chance of being damaged by cat claws, doubly so if some of said cats were de-clawed. But do I have to remind you that you're letting your cat play games on your $350+ iPad?

Seriously. The fuck is wrong with people these days? Are they really so moronic that they'll bitch about a $1 DLC purchase, but happily pay $30 or more for a stupid map pack in the FPS of the year? Or even buy two or more iPads without a second thought?

The mentality of the masses; it only gets dumber over time. Then again, I never really thought that most of the people who DID buy an iPad really had much common sense in them anyway. >.>

The iPads--or any other tablet--are pretty useful for those of us on the go on business, or just want some entertainment during long trips. I could see myself having one if I traveled a lot and couldn't get to my home computer for extended periods of time. Watching movies on one is far better than on my iPod Touch for sure.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

At this point, the only reason why I'm planning to eventually get an iPad is so I can play the iPad version of Fruit Ninja that I bought ages ago. Right now, my focus is on the Wii U and upgrading to the next generation of the iPod touch, with more space. I'm running out of room on my 32 GB.

This is exactly what a laptop and cellphone are for. People will argue that laptops are too big and bulky, but they come in all shapes and sizes depending on specs and convenience. You can use a laptop for everything you need while travelling and then some. You can use your smartphone to do all the things you're doing on your iPad, with the added function of making phonecalls. An iPad is a glorified notepad and pencil. I dunno, maybe it's because I have yet to see more than one or two people actually use it's most basic functions sensibly (HEY GUYS LOOK, I GOT AN iPAD BECAUSE I'M TRENDY AND SHIT AND EVERYONE'S DOING THE WHOLE APPLE THING NOW EVEN THOUGH NO ONE HAS A CLUE ON HOW TO USE ONE. LET'S JUST USE IT TO PLAY ANGRY BIRDS AND LOOK ALL COOL AND SOPHISTICATED AND SHIT.), but I think it isn't as useful or revolutionary as people make it out to be.

Green Man Gaming, a digital distribution company based in the UK, is planning to allow customers to order boxed versions of the games it sells online. A rather reversed version of the whole "DIGITAL GAMING IS THE FUTURE" bullshit.

Quote:

"We're already established in the digital space where the rest of the retail market is slowly turning its attention, so adding PC boxed, PS3 and Xbox 360 games gives us a much wider portfolio of key titles for our core gaming audience," said Green Man Gaming Managing Director Paul Sulyok. "With more than £1.4 billion ($2.2 billion) spent annually in the U.K. alone on boxed games product, we believe there's room for an agile, ambitious E-commerce retailer like GMG to provide this service in the U.K. and beyond."

Initially, they'll only be shipping to UK customers, but they plan to expand that to other parts of the world in the near future.

And Ubisoft's CEO has claimed that you need new consoles for new IP's. Linkage.Or rather, he says that new IP's are more likely to succeed at the start of a new console generation. Since Ubisoft has only been developing new properties at the start of a new generation and made sequel upon sequel the rest of the time as of late, naturally they wouldn't really know otherwise.
