 The main thing about the Lets Play thing is that it was denied not because Sony is trying to get a copyright for it, but because someone else got to a copyright of it first.
The registered mark is LP LET’S PLAY plus design:
Registrant’s services are “Entertainment services, namely to provide online and offline opportunities for video game enthusiasts to meet and participate in live video game tournaments and on-demand console gaming.”

The applied-for mark is LET’S PLAY:
Applicant’s services are “Electronic transmission and streaming of video games via global and local computer networks; streaming of audio, visual, and audiovisual material via global and local computer networks.”

 Eh, we just got one on the 3DS and get one on a near yearly basis on consoles (plus Xenoverse should keep people occupied for a while). It's been a good while since we got a proper RPG like Attack of the Saiyans (which used the fantastic SRW/Project X Zone battle system), so it's a nice change of pace.

 Once upon a time, there was a Saints Row game in development for PSP.

It was cancelled, but Volition has released the prototype for play on emulators
