This is the only source I can find, despite YouTube's bullshit having Good Game's content completely blocked to US residents. Anyway, the developers/publishers of Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 have confirmed that the game will not be getting a west side release, as they are scared of the backlash they would recieve over the game's content.

I don't mean to be that douche, but that last bit is used so often in comedy that it made me laugh.

Respectfully, though, I wish the best for the creator.

I like it when people use the word "gay" in any context other than a homosexual one - it only proves that they have the maturity of a five year old, as if their obsession with shooters didn't already do a good job of pointing that out. It's also pretty amusing that he pointed out Skyrim considering the fact that, y'know, it's set in the bloody medival era and doesn't even have muskets, let alone generic modern firearms.

But just for fun, let's play around with his logic a bit.

game - gun = gay
game + gun = -gay
game + gun + Arem = ???

Capcom trademarks Onimusha in Japan. Don't get too excited, it might just be more HD remake garbage or, worse, an update for their Onimusha browser game.

In other news, looks like Platinum is working on a TMNT game.

Sorry about that. Took care if it. >.<

Also, here's a thing about Namco losing its patent to have complete games in their load screens. Now everyone can get in on it:

Kotaku does a nice write up on why some people are mad about who's judging The Game Awards. I think the best part here is Stephen Totillo's response to someone in the comments asking if Kotatku would've also pulled out:

Quote:

That would have been my call, and no, we would not have. I think the issue raised here is interesting and worthy of discussion, but I don’t read the gender ratio of the judges as intentional exclusion that would compel me to protest the awards.

In my experience, the voting winds up being a collaboration among those of us at the outlet—male, female, whatever skin colors we have, whatever political or religious views we have, everyone pitching in. That’s because no single writer can play all the games worthy of discussion for all the categories for any gaming awards. I play a shitload of games, but it’s impossible to keep up with everything. Because of that, I don’t look at the names and faces on this game award list and think of those judges as the sole deciders of what’s going to win. I assume their staffs have input. But given that the staffs of many of those sites (and ours) are predominantly male, I think this is as good an opportunity as any to discuss the preponderance of men in positions of influence in gaming culture.

As Patrick noted, it’s a very complex issue, and I don’t think badly of anyone for disagreeing over particular points on the matter. You could argue that adding women doesn’t automatically make the selection of games more diverse. You could argue that adding a guy who focuses on much more obscure but excellent little indie games might make the selection more diverse. But when I walk into a gaming shop, particularly where I live in NYC, I see a more diverse crowd than I see when I’m at a press event or at GDC, and I think it’s a worthy goal for the press and the development scene to achieve even a decent fraction of that level of diversity.

I tend to not get that outraged by this stuff, which I know frustrates some people. But that doesn’t mean I don’t care or don’t think it’s worth discussing.

...doesn't EA own the right to System Shock? Or did the IP shuffle around some since last I checked?

According to this video of Good Game Pocket News, the studio behind the Enhanced Edition and a full remake of the first game had acquired the rights to the franchise back in early November, roughly.

(due to issues between the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and YouTube that still haven't been resolved, all content on the Good Game YouTube channel is blocked for US residents; this is the only source I remembered on short notice.)

I thought the team behind System Shock were the ones that developed Bioshock. Wasn't that it's entire initial selling point? That it was a spiritual successor?

Maybe it was people who worked on System Shock, but not necessarily the original dev team. Kinda like how the developers of Super DBZ consisted of SF2 alumni.
