Instead of, you know, just selecting the character digitally, but that wouldn't make it rain money I guess. Though... you can never go wrong with more Portal...especially one that crosses over like that. How did Garfield Kart not end up on anyone's radar? This should have been a fucking highlight. I don't think I can really agree with WOW.... but then again I've never played it. It feels out of place in this list. If you actually look at the criteria, you'll see that Sonic has no place on that initial list, WoW has every right to it, and Mario 2/3 should not be. I fucking hate WoW and how it's stagnated the mmo industry for so many years, but it deserves its spot there. I saw the list, and I thought everything made good sense, though I do hope that Ultima Online or a MUD ends up in there eventually for contributions to the foundation of MMORPGs. You've got Mario for pulling video gaming out of a hole and showing that you could do a lot of complexity with the hardware of the day, Tetris for being one of the longest-lasting games in both mileage and popularity and having a mental condition named after it, Pong for being the first true arcade video game, Pac-man for being the first modern arcade game and creating a cultural phenomenon, Doom for how it established the FPS genre and how it affected video games and their relationship with graphic violence and adult themes, and WoW for setting in stone the major mechanics and themes of the MMORPG genre. >Garfield Kart I'd buy that for a dollar! Says it isn't fun or social, it's just tech. Honestly, that pretty much applies to most of the medium's current tech. It's trying too hard to be bleeding edge and is losing touch with its roots as entertainment.

M$ and Sony are more the graphics consoles, especially lately, and we're hitting the point where games are being made about as pretty as they can be without crossing over into uncanny valley territory. So when that gets exhausted and people start crying about how games aren't 5% more pretty, they gotta look elsewhere.
