Well, word is a planned 2.5D Metroid game was cancelled in 2012 due to that game's development and negative opinions. Nintendo decides that Valentine's Day is Friendship Day as a way to market it towards younger audiences. Nintendo pitched for the media rights to Harry Potter back in 1998. Not just videogames, but ALL of it.

He says he will no longer talk to the press and apologises to fans about not being able to meet expectations, citing his constant statements on the grandness of his games as being merely ideas that are misinterpreted as promises. tl;dr it looks like he's out.
