I care about all the lore and backstory that I can never find a dedicated, chronicled, tl;dr version of what's going on and who's who. I like the danmakus too, but it's more the story aspect of the franchise that hooks me. Also pretty art and good music.

I do like the danmaku series, I just suck at it. I'm also in the same boat Seeco is for the most part in that I happen to like the story, the characters, and even the very premise of the setting. The music's good too.

I only ever played three of the danmaku games: Subterranean Animism, Unidentified Fantastic Object, and Phantasmagoria of Flower View. It was the fighters that got me into the series to begin with, admittedly.

Damn, it only works on windo... oh wow it works with wine at least.
It says it runs on Unity. Technically, they could have just run this on a browser window. It's pretty fun actually.

Running real games made in unity that aren't low poly in browser is hardy a good idea.

Also browser-ran games sometimes have issues with gamepads.

Or just duelboot your computer to have a windows partition. Aint that hard.

Don't have enough room for that. I played a game with plenty more polys than this and it worked fine, though yeah gamepads wouldn't be usable.

Those side power moves are powerful...

So instead of milking money out of people with subscription fees, they're now milking money out of people with DLC subscription fees.

Not unexpected. Champions does similar things with mission packs you can purchase. And ESO plays notably like Champions to begin with.

Still requires a fucking $60 software purchase, though. At least GW2 was good enough of a product to ask for that much.

Nintendo bosses ¡§do not really understand modern gaming¡¨, says former executive„ª

Quote:

“They’re very traditional, and very focused on hierarchy and group decision making,” Adelman said of the company’s structure.

“Unfortunately, that creates a culture where everyone is an advisor and no one is a decision maker – but almost everyone has veto power. Even Mr. Iwata is often loathe to make a decision that will alienate one of the executives in Japan.”

Adelman said that getting anything done involves a great deal of groundwork bringing different groups on board, and is even harder for those outside Japan, because the whole process has to be repeated at multiple levels.

“All of this is not necessarily a bad thing, though it can be very inefficient and time consuming,” he added.

“The biggest risk is that at any step in that process, if someone flat out says no, the proposal is as good as dead. So in general, bolder ideas don’t get through the process unless they originate at the top.”

That’s not the only issue, either.

“The most senior executives at the company cut their teeth during NES and Super NES days and do not really understand modern gaming, so adopting things like online gaming, account systems, friends lists, as well as understanding the rise of PC gaming has been very slow,” Adelman said.

“Ideas often get shut down prematurely just because some people with the power to veto an idea simply don’t understand it.

“There is very little reason to try and push these ideas. Risk taking is generally not really rewarded. Long-term loyalty is ultimately what gets rewarded, so the easiest path is simply to stay the course.”
