Pay-Boosting is the heart of F2P gaming, or at least the market model, as I know of no Free To Play/Freemium Games now that doesn't focus on MicroTransactions instead of real gameplay. Also yea. Kotaku are either too shortwinded or too longwinded. |

Booster microtransactions are primarily in mobile or facebook app games, though. Not all f2p games feature them, often having just cash shops for aesthetic or nongameplay items. Often the worst you'll see is timed exp coupons, and those are not even big sellers nor offenders. (they aren't pay to win, pay to continue, or such. They just slightly reduce a grind) The only real big offender I can think of right now is TF2, and even than you don't earn weapons in that game outside the original cheevo gear, it's completely random. Even than, paying for weapons is only something done to speed up a time-grind that is the RNG, since it's all side-grade stuff.(balancing issues notwithstanding) tl;dr: Shit on f2p app shit, not all games with a cash shop. |

It can be an alternate costume like how in Sm4sh little mac has a costume with his pink jacket, or it could be a different character entirely, like what was done in Sm4sh for Bowser Jr. and the Koopa Kids. Keep it appropriate for all ages though. 2 out of 20 claimed Heaven have mercy upon my dosh.

Holy crap, I didn't know they had an indiegogo page. Art style isn't quite to my liking and Melee mechanics just make me say 'Let it Go', but by the same token it's a Touhou smasher which is a pretty good mix and the fandom generally does remixes of Zun's themes justice. ...Also, I totally forgot that I wasn't the only Touhou fan on these boards. :V |

While they get rather tourneyfag with their design reasons, they on the flipside do remove the senseless accessibility options regarding the asinine meta mechanic bullshit, directly making something an easy-to-use feature verses precision exploitative controls. AKA, realizing why people dislike the tourneyfag BS in the first place. The game will likely not consist of only fox and falco type of characters. (Which is why I'd love Meiling to be confirmed, as she is so drastically different a touhou with her physical focus and heavier hits to compensate it. She could kinda be like a bowser, in a sense.) There is also a devblog video relating to the art style, and it's for pretty good reasons. Really, it's just the faces that could use touch-ups, and they certainly have made adjustments based on feedback. (feedback that is worthwhile and not vague, at any rate.) |
