...either you're making the argument that FNAF is a traditional point-and-click game or that Goosebumps is one where you're stuck in one spot defending yourself from monsters. I'm pretty that's false both ways? The artstyle is hardly what defines them, even if it makes them stand out in this day and age.

On account of its popularity though, I think it's pretty safe to say it went viral thanks in large part to high profile youtubers (Markiplier comes to mind) getting their hands on the demo versions, and from then on it essentially sold on that publicity alone. It's certaintly where I first heard of it from. I'll grant anyone that it's arguably just as fun to watch as it is to play, but I think the fact that three games have already come together in such quick succession speaks enough that people are actually buying it.

More arguing that they're both prerendered survival horror games with point and click elements (Goosebumps leaning more towards the point and click variety, while Freddy's the former). Honestly, just seeing the way Freddy's looks, feels and plays just reminds me a lot of the games that came out during that time. Not saying there's anything out there IDENTICAL to it, but there's a lot of similar stuff.

On that note, I should get around to actually GETTING Freddy's at some point. It's somewhere on my Steam wishlist's top 50.

Anyone who doesn't even try to use all the user-friendly tools out there to get into gamedev doesn't actually want to make videogames, they just like the idea of having made a game.

If you have a computer and internet, the only thing stopping you from making a game is you. Time is no excuse, because even if you only put a few hours a week into it, you've still got hundreds of work hours into project at the end of a year.(And there's no time limit for making a game, too.)

Get your ass off of videogames and social media and make a videogame, or, fucking don't. It's okay to realize that you don't actually want to do it, no one will actually care if you decide not to work on it.

The concept of game development, for myself, has never really been very appealing. I like writing stories and ideas, maybe designing a few things, but the actual making just seems like something I won't enjoy. Props to anyone who can do it.

This is something most people that fail at game development don't realize, this shit doesn't come whole hog, you have to start from somewhere, either a story that you fit the gameplay around, or a gameplay system you build a plot around.

I've tinkered with RPG Maker. When I have more time and am less distracted by other ventures, I wanna take a crack at making a game in it. :3

I'd suggest trying all the easier tools before deciding that. The Games Factory/Multimedia Fusion, RPGMaker, Game Maker, and Unity come to mind. If art's a problem, work with free resources.

You need to have an idea very ready if you don't want to do programming yourself, because ideas are hard as fuck to sell. Or, have money to pay people to work for/with you.

Keep tinkering with it. Even a single hour off of PSO2 and into the tinkering a week will make a difference.

HEY EKOI MAKE ME A SPRITE

Okay but seriously though, speaking from the various projects I've seen come and go - and frankly, the amount of failure I've faced trying to make my own from scratch - I find the biggest mistake most new developers make is starting out way too ambitious. You really shouldn't be afraid to make the most out of something really small and simple at first, then work your way up from there, because ultimately it's still better to have a game finished than to have one stuck in limbo because you don't have the experience yet to make it work.

EB Games Australia no longer selling The Elder Scrolls Online. Apparently, they were contacted by Besthesda and told to return all unsold copies of the game, instead of just the excess. Including prepaid subscription cards.

What does this mean? Including Bethesda canning the option to pay for a six month subscription, this is causing a lot of people to think that ESO is about to go fully free-to-play.

That is also a possibility, but the F2P thing is what just about everyone is expecting to happen first.

ESO would have to have flopped spectacularly for them to cancel it this early on. I mean, fuck, even The Matrix Online ran for about three years before they pulled the plug on it.
