 Don't really see the issue with competitive multiplayer being Nintendo's fault considering it's mostly third party developers who haven't ported their games on the console, or have done a terrible job of doing so (or have outright removed such features from the Wii U version). The other stuff though, yeah, it's pretty weaksauce. The Wii U and 3DS have a practically unified system, they just haven't taken the final steps to cement it in and make it more accessible to everyone, at anytime, anywhere. Transferring data should just be that, it shouldn't involve jumping through hoops and then only having one (usually incomplete) copy of the data. Most people I know didn't make the jump from the Wii to Wii U data-wise because things were lost during the transition, and the original data was wiped, plus you had to go through hell to do it. The 3DS has a similar issue which irritated people when they switched from the standard to the XL, but luckily, methods online have shown that you can just copy the data through the computer on the SD Card and get your all your shit intact, while still having a decent backup.

At the end of the day, Nintendo really needs to do more work when it comes to the tech aspect of their console. I know they're still the only company that's making consoles for games for the sake of games, but there still needs to be some kind of technological fidelity to make it more streamlined for the market, especially since the competition is doing a slightly better job than them.

 Despite the wording of the title (hello clickbait!) it's just a massive rumour currently, from a guy who "has connections." I, for one, wouldn't mind a remake. Hell, maybe I'd actually be able to get invested in the game finally if it had a massive overhaul.
