Do you want to do the right thing? Invest in creating the ultimate handheld experience by allowing your handheld gaming device to also function as a smartphone. The 3DS is already internet capable, it has 3D, it uses an SD memory card, has (okay fine, HAD) a messaging service, runs plenty of apps and widgets and can handle some big ass games. all you need to do is give it the ability to make calls to other people and you're set. I've been saying this for over a year now; Nintendo has the potential to break into the cellphone market and beat them at their own game, with quality titles and a device that is, essentially dedicated to gaming. This isn't some phone that can play Angry Birds and Fruit Ninja, this is a phone that can run a Mario game, in 3D, online. You can fucking do it, just put some thought into it.

Also I think they won't move their AAA content here, but maybe Virtual Console offerings...

It didn't do anything new to the market and was comprised of then-currently existing technology. The N-Gage fell short because it was, in concept, ahead of its time. Game studio Nyamyam (never heard of them) comments on Wii U situation. Quote: Does the Wii U need saving? Wii U might be low hardware sales but higher software sale per owner compared to Wii. Would like to see numbers. Whoever owns a Wii U now is dedicated to games imo. For game devs the software attachment rate is as important as the overall install base.

Actually, he's saying that they should hand their games over to other consoles until they get their shit together (by halting the Wii U entirely) and then, once they have a proper, competing console, they should pull their games off other consoles and get back into the game. So essentially, do what Sega did. So you guessed wrong, but that's understandable since his suggestion isn't even remotely sensible. He did make mention of embracing the smartphone market though, so yeah, you got that right. XD

Apparently, Nintendo's stocks levelled out by the end of the same day, and "analysts" seem to be conveniently failing to report that. Aside from that, Iwata reiterates that there are no plans for Mario on smartphones.
