May have already been posted a while ago, but we all know that localisation is (unfortunately) not "flick of the wrist" easy. XSEED Games' producation assistant, Brittany Avery, outlines a fair amount of the effort that went into localising the recently released Rune Factory 4.
I still don't get WHY they published it considering Natsume's been doing it in-house since the beginning. The fact that they've consistently released every entry in the series must mean that it's been selling enough, so I don't understand why they went to another company to publish it for them, then promptly decided to axe it because it wasn't working out.

I don't know if you've ever played a Harvest Moon game, but Natsume is pretty much infamous for terrible localization.

Like, "we ran the script through Google Translate" terrible. So terrible that the process of localizing a game causes it to have gamebreaking bugs that weren't there in the Japanese version.

Also they have trouble spelling their company name correctly.

Then how do they keep pumping out Harvest Moon titles without any losses, but suddenly this is a big deal, especially considering it's a Harvest Moon spinoff? O.o

The comments on the comic itself seem to imply that it was an unintentional reference, but since Yahtzee/Zero Punctuation! is an Escapist thing, I wouldn't be surprised if it was actually Yahtzee xD

Speaking of Yahtzee: His ZP on Super Mario 3D World has left him with a nice end-of-year revelation for 2013, which he explains in EP. FUCK COMMENTS.

Yahtzee's saying what we've always known about comments. No one who treasures their sanity and faith in their fellow man would bother reading them.

Mr. Harada looking to announce two new titles for 2014. Let's hope it's some quality shit, Namco is one of the few major Japanese developers that's borderline good these days. Do something to bring it back to quality standards.

Squeenix continues to fail at pricing ports.

EDIT: Marvel games getting pulled off of digital distribution platforms due to Activision losing the license. This includes the brand new Deadpool game.

And this is why you buy at retail. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the retail copies vanished as well, since loss of license would probably also mean having to stop manufacturing new copies.

Still, it won't bother the people who've already bought it digitally.

Deus Ex Human Revolution Director’s Cut bombed on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC. The Wii U version did sell the most, but it was by no means a hot seller.
Well this certaintly came as a huge surprise. I mean, sure, I totally expected that the game wouldn't exactly sell god numbers, but I felt so sure the price points on the dudebro consoles would outsell the WiiU version by a pretty huge margin. I guess it has more to do with the fact that Nintendo loyalists are the only people who haven't actually played it yet.

Oh yeah, and great job reinforcing my hatred of digital platforms, guys. There's something seriously fucking wrong with this industry when a game goes out of print five months after it launched, and download versions shouldn't be an exception to that.

You know what? This is a fairly dull news(?) thingy, but after seeing the usual "best games of the year" articles, particularly the ones from Kotaku, where each contributor gave their personal favourites, I've decided to go all "fuck it" and do my own best of 2013 post on NB's blog when I get back.

I'd do it while here, but a few games I have in mind are either on the PS3, 360 or Wii U and I may not have played them in a while, so I need to boot them up again to articulate my thoughts. Also need to research things like release dates and the like, as I'm thinking of using that blog post to maybe do "mini reviews" on each game I pick, to see how I do on the review front.

If all goes well, I might move onto full scale reviews of games for NB's blog, as Seeco suggested I do when I gave some thoughts on Kingdom Hearts 3D a while ago via Facebook :3
