Some more news on Operation Rainfall: Did you like that video? Wasn't that guy awesome? Well, Operation Rainfall is working on a PSA and they're using Andrew Eisen from the video above to present it. Every game I've ever pre-ordered from Gamestop has been sealed, and if they tried giving me an opened copy I'd either ask them to exchange it for a sealed one or not give them my money. |

Those leave too obvious a mark, because the shrinkwrap of those machines you can get in like OfficeMax leave different patterns than done professionally. Plus, I still have to encounter a game I bought from GameStop that had "tampering" done to it, and I do look...closely. Opening shrinkwrap without tearing on games is difficult, because nowadays, there is a second line of the shrinkwrap that goes all the way around the perimeter of the box, and it's really thin. You encounter it upon tearing it, and it's about as strong as tape. You break that, and it's impossible to fix it without leaving a mark, because they often have marks on them that camouflage with the box's color... ...at least, that's what I've been encountering. Hell, I've only come across one "bum" game and that was a pre-owned copy of Gears of War that didn't work. They were able to replace it with a better copy though at no extra charge. EA Origins monitors what you do on your computer, including software and hardware. When gamers spoke up against it, they modified their EULA to find a loophole to send your information to third parties. This is another PSN hack just waiting to happen if you ask me. Epic games can ID and ban users who spoil Gears 3. Gears 3 will also have a season pass. EA took a hit earlier on a Madden season pass because no one bought the game. Ubisoft took down the DRM for From Dust after fans complained, as well as offering refunds. This is proof that when the fans speak and complain, it works and that removing these things is an easy process. More about the Gamestop issue with Deus Ex. Gamestop apologised and are giving people fifty dollar giftcards for people who buy the game. I don't think this is a good compromise, it's just a bribery tactic to shut people up. They're also saying they're going into digital distribution, so don't expect to find any used games at Gamestops eventually. Konami blames fans for the lack of Silent Hill 4 in the Silent Hill Collection. They only wanted to include the most popular titles in the series, so apparently not including 4 is a crime because, well, no one fucking likes the damn game anyway. Ninja Gaiden 3's story will take 8 to 10 hours to complete. Aliens: Infestation comes to Europe in September. Dark Souls will not have DLC, meaning you're getting a complete game in one fell swoop, no bullshit. The PS3 version of Rage has a mandatory install. Blades of Time comes to PS360 next year. The Juggernaut will be playable in MW3. MW3 has a multiplayer unlock system that does not use currency. It also comes with, you're gonna love this, "advanced gaming eyewear" for $100...they're fucking sunglasses guys, I love how hilarious this shit is. MW3 headsets to come with DLC as well, lololololol, enjoy the milking of an already terrible franchise. Kanye West is appearing at the Call of Duty Expo (seriously? an expo for one generic FPS franchise?). So merchandising and celebrity endorsement...wow guys, the industry's in a bigger pile of shit than I had ever possibly could have imagined. *insert funny Mega64 video about DLC being the entire game* Batman Arkham City: - Entire city is fully explorable - Over 40 hours of gameplay - More playable characters now - More gadgets - More improved mechanics - More Riddler challenges .hack is getting a new game, sort of. There's a new Blu-Ray movie being released that also comes with a small game. Skyrim follows Mass Effect 3, having an alternative lifestyle story. Dead Rising 2 (the new one) will have a sandbox mode. COUNTERSTRIKE WILL HAVE CROSS-PLATFORM PLAY, YESYESYESYESYESFUCKYESHOLYFUCKYES BITCHES IT'S ABOUT MOTHERFUCKING TIIIIIIME! PS3's Jack Bowser says that Free to Play is the future. An MMO called Crime Craft is now F2P. |

You keep saying this, but on every single occasion I can count it's always been either Activision or EA, and it really annoys me that you keep blaming the entire industry for practices nobody else I can think of enforces, rather than just singling out either of them like you should be. Yes, we get it, Activision is evil, now how the heck does everyone else fit into this? |

Capcom, Konami, Namco and Square pull just as much bullshit as Activision and EA on a more regular basis. I don't get how you didn't see any of that, at all. Plus these companies are all the pillars of the industry; once they rot, the whole thing collapses. EDIT: I won't bother giving a summary, because I'll probably just end up repeating that statement again, much to BL's chagrin. :P There's a lot more wrong with companies by the way, if Bethesda's scroll bullshit is any indication. Because unlike Activision and to a lesser extent EA, good games still come out of it? I mean sure it's all subjective and Capcom's admittedly pulled its fair share of bullshit lately (though from everything I can see it's more about pissing off fans rather than borderline extorting money from them), but they're still not the only folks in the industry - even if they somehow end up simultaneously collapsing tomorrow, there's still folks like Nintendo, Sega and Platnium (just off the top of my head) who could just as easily take the industry for themselves and pick up the pieces, not to mention the indie community that would in all likelihood be nearly unaffected by a turnout like that. Yes, companies are shooting themselves in the foot, but that only serves to remove themselves from the picture. It's not going to take the entire industry with them. |
